Resident Evil 7 Resident Evil VII confirmed.

It's kind of funny that I'm the one posting the news here. Anyway, here's a new gameplay trailer, showing us mostly scenes we've already caught glimpses of in more detail:

Does anyone else have the feeling that Ethan's running speed isn't notably faster than his walking speed?

They released a second gameplay trailer immediately afterwards:

It's basically a continuation of the first clip, picking up right where the first one left off.

For those that have played the demo in VR, is there a way to adjust how bright the lamp lights and your flashlight looks when it reflects on things, such as notes.

In the VR demo, reading the notes on the images, such as the first note, has a really weird reflection. And i've adjusted the brightness on the VR device menu and in the game demo. Only 'odd' thing to me about the VR experience. And i'm very new to it. Already did the eye adjustment test too.

It appears that Marguerite has the ability to control those bugs. Interesting.

Anyway a redditor made an analysis on why Ethan W. is Ethan Winters and that he is (or former) an Umbrella scientist:

https://www.reddit.com/r/residentevil/comments/5h3z1x/ethan_winters_is_an_umbrella_scientist/

"Ethan Winters is also the McGuffin.‬

‪Little to nothing is known about Ethan aside from what we are told in the last trailer: Tape-3 "Resident Evil" from another unknown narrator who; not only knows the whole story, but also tells us that Ethan Winters presumed his wife to be dead for the last 3 years.‬

‪On the surface it appears this is all we know about Ethan, but if you know your Resident Evil history and/or lore, like I know many of you do, then you know that Ethan W. is the last of 7 names in the Resident Evil 5 file entitled: "Spencer's Notebook." Even more notably, is a list of names written by Albert Wesker who are all declared "deceased."‬

‪u/TempestRave was the first person here on reddit (I give credit where credit is due and you should too) to point out the possibility of a connection to the Stairway of the Sun, and I happen to agree with him. Not only do I think Stairway of the Sun is going to be a core plot element, but we will learn all about Ethan's involvement with the progenitor virus as well. There has been a lot of contentious debate over the last 3 days on whether or not Ethan Winters is Ethan W. in Spencer's Notebook, and I am in the camp that says he is. ‬

‪First off, the list reads like a hit list, Spencer wanted these people to be killed, and he wanted Albert Wesker to do it. All of the names that have level 10 clearance are top level Umbrella officials, the names with level 9 clearance were all scientists employed under "Brandon B." who dedicated his life's work to the research and development of the progenitor virus. Everyone in his staff were listed as high-level umbrella employees who knew, and worked closely with Director Brandon B., and Ethan Winters was one of his staff. I bet Ethan not only has knowledge of Umbrella secrets, but has worked on Stairway of the Sun. He has firsthand knowledge of the progenitor virus, and may even have worked to create bio weapons as well.‬

‪Now here comes the wildly speculative part: If Ethan Winters worked as a scientist for Umbrella then he may have been exposed to contamination that would never fully manifest in his body, lying dormant, showing no symptoms of infection, he may have never even knew w. ‬

‪In many cases of viral exposure, depending upon the viral strain, it will remain dormant in your body for years. Even the newly discovered Zika Virus, (AKA the Z-Virus) linked to microcephaly, which incubates within your testicles, and lies dormant in the sperm, can be sexually transmitted from dormant male carriers, to their female sexual partners. In the proper environmental conditions, if Ethan were a carrier for an unknown viral strain, he very well could've unknowingly infected his wife during procreation.‬

‪The mold / spores / fungus or biohazard, that grows all over the house grew at an accelerated rate, the 'Molded' also grow at an accelerated rate and seemingly grow right out of the walls, instantaneously. We know the Molded thrive in the basement of the Baker house, they require a dark, damp space to incubate.‬

‪This incubation process is not limited to the Baker house. I believe it also gestated inside Mia, in the form of a child, the Shadow Child. Not only do I think Mia had a baby after she was presumed dead, but the Bakers raised this child, this Shadow Child. The Bakers are not the type of people who would turn away a helpless mother and child, even if the baby was infected, they would care for, and protect an innocent child.‬

‪Because of the rapidly accelerated growth of the bio hazardous infection, the child would also grow at an exponential rate. Not only would the Shadow Child age quickly, but so too would the host, or, the mother, age rapidly. If the Shadow Child bonded with the biohazard during pregnancy, then the fetus itself could be the source of infection. Meaning: the Shadow Child has the ability to control everything around her because the 'BIOHAZARD' is an extension of her.‬

‪At the same time, you have this mold growing all over the house, altering the state of the house itself. With every action, there is an equivalent and opposite reaction. The further the mold spreads the more influence it has on its surrounding environment (the house). I believe the mold is a temporal mold, the same temporal mold that is identified in the film Primer (2004). The mold acts as a conduit that alters both causality and reality.‬

‪What I'm saying to you is this:‬

The Shadow Child The young girl, Mia's daughter, is also Ethan's daughter as well. And the woman described as the "decrepit elderly woman" known to us so far as Aunt Rhody, is Mia. Mia is the elderly woman in the wheelchair. Furthermore, the woman on the phone is also the little girl in the house. The woman on the phone is the Shadow Child. She is Ethan's daughter navigating Ethan through the labyrinthian house from an undetermined or indeterminate point in time to ensure her own survival, and she will be the only survivor. ‬

‪Remember way back at the beginning when I said Ethan is a scientist?, but Ethan is also the MacGuffin? That's because Ethan is the cause of, and the solution to, all of his own problems. Ethan. McGuffin. Winters.‬

‪Despite the numerous naysayers, I think our friends at Capcom were very careful in planning every single minuscule detail of this game. Meticulously. Not only do I believe that Capcom have been working on Resident Evil 7 for years, but I believe Resident Evil 7 will tie-in with every other installment (Yes, including Resident Evil: Vendetta) over their long rich 20 year Resident Evil franchise history.‬"

Hey ResidentDevil, that's some deep insight to 7. Impressive and im glad to see the excitement and optimism about 7. I myself am extremely excited for 7. Both gameplay wise, and story wise. I member that file in 5.

While im here, I wanna see if anyone else thinks the collectors edition for the US is kinda lame. 180 bucks for a VHS tape, dummy finger USB, "I shall dash you against the stones" paper, lithograph of the dinner table, steelbook case ( the steelbook is probly the best part) and the house that lights up and plays "go tell aunt rhody". I was gonna get it when I saw the UK version, which had a 20th anniversary artbook. That to me would be worth it. And the $180 version doesn't even have the deluxe edition content. I might just go for the deluxe edition. The Japan edition has herbs and a vinyl.

-Just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were about the collectors edition as well.

-Does anybody know the content of the deluxe edition? like 4 side stories or something.

I never get special editions or anything. I'll buy posters and stuff separate from games, but other than that I'm not really a merch person. That said, I at least think the music box house is pretty cool. I personally don't really care for any of the other stuff that comes with it, except for maybe the steel case as you mentioned, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would like it. It's just not really my thing.

Iirc the deluxe edition comes with four short side stories and an additional main story episode.

Honestly I used to always get the collectors editions for games. Now days not as much because 90% of the stuff just collects dust. Thought there are some really cool ones that I still like to get if the value is there. Unfortunately the value is simply not there in this one in my opinion. It would be wicked if that VHS tape was real and you could play it on a real VHS player that you may have in storage somewhere. The USB stick is only 4gigs which is too small to do anything with these days. a Bunch of paper notes which is probably around 25 cents in value in total. The only thing that's questionable is the music box house which is cool. That might have some quality to it... I'm simply not seeing $110 worth of stuff there. The DLC better be pretty beefy in terms of content and equal to half of the main game at that price. This is definitely a premium price as far as collectors editions go.

All interesting theories, but I highly doubt Mia could've aged so quickly like that. Look at her at the end of Tape 3 when she says "I love you Ethan and I miss you" (awwwwwww), she looks like she's in her late 20s/early 30s. You could argue a viral infection caused it, but if Mia (supposedly) has the same type of infection the Bakers have, then how come they don't look like old hags (except maybe Marguerite, and not in the old-granny kinda way)?

But yeah, Capcom looks like they put a special amount of care and diligence into this game, and I think it'll surprise a lot of the naysayers. It'll be RE4 all over again. Remember when people were trashing the hell out of Resi 4 for departing too far from the series before it came out? Low and behold, it came out to great reviews and everybody LOVED it.

I hated RE4, and it's still the only RE to date that I started, but never finished.

I haven't read all of that theory, but as for Mia's accelerated aging process in contrast with the Bakers merely going insane, I wouldn't put it past the new virus to affect people differently. This has actually been a theme throughout the entire series: Not all species of animals mutate in the same way when exposed to the T-virus, and Jill didn't mutate at all, but the combination of various chemicals in her body clearly did something to her. The G-virus turned William Birkin into a giant blob with eyes and teeth, but his daughter merely got a healing factor due to the cure she was given. Uroboros has been known to reject certain people. And let's not even get into all the weird stuff the C-virus can do, with no explanation ever given as to why it turns some people into zombies while others become J'avo, or pokémon (I'm looking at you, Pierskachu), other than something along the lines of: "Different strains of the virus do different things." This new threat could be a similar case. We have no idea what kind of virus it is, what kind of blood Mia has, and what other viruses, cures or whatever she might have been exposed to in the past. At this point, everything is possible, including a virus that accelerates aging for some people, just as the G-virus reduced it in Sherry's case.

There's a new RE 7 TV spot commercial shown during the mid-season finale of the Walking Dead.

If you think that first-person gameplay and VR still aren't enough to create maxium immersion, you can soon spend 19 more dollars on a blood-scented candle that lasts one entire playthrough of RE7 and is supposed to, well, make the game even more immersive. I can think of at least one person on this forum who will definitely want this...
