Because Paul W. Anderson (if this is his name) didn't knew the Resident Evil series so much, and he asked to his slave to play resident evil director's cut and tell him. And like the slave didn't speak english, Paul didn't understand anything, so he create the whole story.

Why Basshunter don't do a Resident Evil song?

For the one who doesn't know who is Basshunter, he's a Swedish DJ that makes music about some games, like dotA and Counter-Strike.
