Oh really? I hadn't heard about all of that. I guess for some reason I thought it was already out on blu ray?

Got my movie collection back, yaaaaay
So I watched Dawn Of The Dead.

You know what scared the hell out of me in this movie?. When that zombie sneaks up to the safe area where the girl is waiting for the guys to come back. Man...

It's an old transfer from the dawn (haha) of Blu-ray, 2007, and since it's out of print it's commanding outrageous prices online from the secondhand market, and we can all thank Richard P. Rubinstein for the privilege.

You mean the Hare Krishna Zombie? Classic.

Original Dawn of the Dead is the ultimate zombie movie, no question (Snyder's version, whilst good, doesn't live up to it). And with George Romero passing away, we've lost the greatest talent in the genre. No-one else will ever be able to match him.

As for what I've been watching today, I've just done a double feature (sort of) consisting of RE Vendetta (which I'll talk about on the Vendetta thread) and the live action Ghost in the Shell.
I thought they didn't do too bad of a job with it, to be honest. They kept enough of the action beats, themes and story elements of the original animé for it to feel like it occupied the same reality as the original, but changed enough to do something different with it. Anybody else seen it? And if so, thoughts?

I can see why most people prefer Dawn, but Day remains the best Romero for me.
Also, the S.T.A.R.S photo suspiciously reminds me of the heliport in Day.

I think Day is almost level pegging with Dawn, but people overlook it because it's story has a much darker tone than the movies before it. And while I think Dawn just edges out Day as the better movie, Day has the ultimate death scene of any movie, period (a bold claim, I know). Colonel Rhodes got messed up good and proper! "Choke on 'em!!!" It never gets old!
I never noticed the similarities between the photo and the heliport, but now you point it out...

LOL. Rhodes is F*cking hilarious in this movie. I actually prefer Torrez's death over Rhodes. I would love to see the people who poisoned my dogs go out like that.

Against my better judgement, I am watching Great American Baking Show on Netflix. Which would be awesome... except for the fact that I'm currently on bed rest with severe morning sickness :/

Decided to re-watch Hercules: The Legendary Journey. And while watching it. i just remembered Wonder Woman's "Hera give me strength" line. and had to search the meaning behind it. and found something that i never would've thought about.

I just watched "Ascension" on Netflix after a friend has been trying to get me to watch for a long time and saying I would love it! Wow he was right. It's so good and definitely worth a watch. It's not what I was expected nor was it the whole "been there done that" that the show falsely advertised to be which was great. I wasn't surprised by some of the twists because of how well foreshadowed they were but damn did they play out pretty epically. Plotholes I thought were there were addressed which was something I could truly appreciate. So many things I'd love to say but I would hate to spoil such a great show for people here who will likely enjoy it. I get the feeling that @BioLence will appreciate it based on something he posted a while back. So I'll recommend it to him! PS. Episode 1 kinda sucks, I know but your patience will be rewarded.

Ascension is about a crew of 600 people who live aboard a colonization ship that is 51 years into it's 100 year Journey to find humanity a new home in Proxima Centauri. The peace is interrupted shortly after the first murder occurs onboard Ascension as it reaches "the point of no return". Meanwhile a shadow organization orchestrates an experiment on 600 helpless victims under the guise of it's umbrella to achieve their true agenda behind the project.

I see. I'll check it out.

Definitely! I hope you enjoy it!

Though you might find the first episode a little insulting to your intelligence but it's funny how all the nonsensical stuff in the first episode and first half of the second actually has a pay off. Which imho is really good foreshadowing. There's a lot of attention to detail in this show from symbolism to cultural and literal references. Def let me know what you think of the show when your done. It's pretty phenomenal imho.

I just watched The Ring for the first time in over a decade on my HBO GO app the other night.

It still holds up okay as a movie, but it's nowhere near as tense as I remember when I first watched it.

Currently watching I Am Sam. Such a sad movie in every facet, but it makes it that much more powerful and endearing. It sounds like the ideal film for me because I'm a real sucker for emotional films and I know of very few that take on subject matter as sensitive as this. I'm already "deeply invested" if you know what I mean and I haven't even gotten to the "good" part yet.

Saw It Saturday night and I thought it was pretty good. I still prefer Tim Curry's take on Pennywise, but Skarsgard is definitely given tons more room and opportunity to do some really great things which I really appreciated. The overall film is a lot more darker and gruesome than the 1990's mini-series, though not quite on the book's level either. It's as a faithful of a representation of the novel as the mini-series was, but in many ways, isn't a direct copy of it either. The child actors were really great and believable in their roles and all had great chemistry. It's not as scary as people have been hyping it to be. The scary parts are just more cool and well done more than anything. My only gripes with the film is the questionable CGI in specific scenes and the pacing. Though, the pacing only bothers me due to my knowledge of the mini-series and the novel. There were some things that felt rushed and other things they just didn't touch up on. Not essential stuff to the overall narrative but still kind of irked me. Otherwise, I thought it was a very solid and unique horror film.

Also, just an observation, but damn all those kids look so goddamn weak and sickly. The original kids at least looked like they could defend themselves. Kids in general these days are just so much smaller and weaker looking than they used to be. What the hell is up that?
