UK has been like this for a bit too - even in the small town I live in, there has been empty shelves and crazy shoppers.

It's Mother's Day here today...I'm already sick of my kids and quarantine isn't making it any better

I don't think there's much to be done about the media as we know it, however we can change the way we absorb it.

I'm an advocate for getting your news from as many different and varied sources as possible. Every news outlet is biased in some way whether admitted or not. However, if you have several sources, you should be able to sort out the consistencies and figure out a less biased truth not swayed by political beliefs.

Fact checking is definitely important. I would say to do this, along with acquiring as many sources as possible.
This right here. I like to get my news from the right, the left, and anything independent in between, and sort through the bogus to find the common truth in the middle.

I read all sorts of news, but if I ever really want to know the truth about an event - I check with Snopes.com. Snopes will tell you if the facts are true, fake, or if there a mix in between.

Because even the best news stations you can listen to are a business first. Even NPR has political leanings and it is the least biased information I can think of.

I tend to enjoy a healthy helping of Greg Gutfeld as I usually see eye to eye with him and enjoy his humor on things.

Yeah everyone has an agenda to push, but I feel the left has too much control when it comes to the media that I tend to watch more things like The Five... but I get that there is bias from all sides and unfortunately you have to narrow things down between the sources.

Yeah, the Snopes thing is interesting - because the argument against using Snopes is that they cannot Fact Check certain items because they have Privacy or Secret Agreements with individuals. I am not sure if that means that they are choosing biases on certain items or straight up refusing to Fact Check certain events due to a legal Agreement.

But they are still the best there is at what they do as far as I know. In a world of made up facts, it is very hard getting to the bottom of events when the facts have been twisted from the beginning.

Here is a list of News Sources based on their immediate bias: https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/media-bias-chart

Who knows what the criteria for discussing bias is in here, but some of their information is quantifiable.

This is why I have multiple sources, because even if everyone has their opposite opinions (which they will), you should be able to extrapolate the similarities between all the sources and find the truth.

I'm really tired of media and politicians saying millennials need to stay home and stop partying.

Do you people even know what a millennial is? The youngest millennials should be 27 or 26 and the oldest are 36 - 40 and I'm sorry but if you're spring breaking at that age you need to grow up and get a job. Like for real.

Go after Gen Z. That's the generation that's still in college, that's the 21 and 22 year olds going out to bars despite requests to social distance.

I don't worry about social distancing because I do that every day out of the year. I go to work and go home. I go to the store when I HAVE to, and even then I don't want to and make it as quick a trip as possible. Antisocial tendencies aside, social distancing is all that most of us can afford.

Gen Z, that's who you're angry at. Get my generation out of your mouth and stop blaming dumb comments from some invincible 21 year old on a generation you obviously don't even know the age group for.

But it's all OUR fault don't you know? No matter who is actually doing it.

Is anyone else tired of seeing famous people post “stay home” pictures of themselves in their million dollar mansions and private islands?
Tee bee H, I'm both entertained and disturbed by Madonna's Twitter in particular lately, I don't know why anybody thinks it's such a good idea for her to be uploading videos of her with no makeup and looking like she hasn't bathed quite frankly singing about fried fish and no more pasta into a hairbrush, but here we are.

Welp, officially working from home due to all of this. In fact my city has instituted a 30 day stay home rule, starting tonight at midnight. That said...I'm kinda enjoying the work from home thing. I didn't think I would.
I will be working from home Monday I believe. The city I work in is putting shelter in place Friday at 5pm.

I would technically still be able to go to work because the business I work for is deemed essential however the company is trying to have non essential personnel work from home if possible so they're in the process of setting that up now.

That's pretty much the same boat I'm in

I had perhaps the most fortuitous sequence of events happen to me the past few months, in relation to Covid 19.

I graduated from school at the beginning of Dec, and didn't have much luck finding a job through Feb which I was told later is pretty normal and that nobody would really be hiring until March. I turn down jobs for Dell, US Cellular and Geek Squad. Going right out of school I did have moments where I wondered if it was a good idea to turn down all those jobs, especially whilst my hatred for my grocery job grew. Meanwhile we got our taxes and at the end of February I applied for a job at CenturyLink. 2 days after I interviewed with them I was offered the job and I took it. In the first week of March I quit my job at the store because I was finally fed up with my assistant manager. Not much later the Covid-19 virus started becoming a real threat for my area so I started to feel a lot better about quitting my store job. Then, when I started at CenturyLink on Monday, I was literally in the office long enough to grab my company laptop and I've been working from home since. I'm even going to be job shadowing remotely. So my accidental avoidance tactics seem to be working and everything has aligned perfectly for my well-being.

I don't know, but Pornhub told me to stay home, so I'm staying home. Goodbye, everyone.

My work has started to make some adjustments as well. The last 2 weeks we have restricted how many customers can come into the building. Basically only one customer per employee to assist. This week they have finally adjusted our hours as we are only scheduled Monday through Friday and close a bit earlier. One of the days in the week they are scheduling each of us off but on call just in case.

Since the schools have closed now, we've all been told to work from home. Most of the kids at my school are being taught over Microsoft teams now, though as a science technician, there's only so much I can do at home .
