Had a really nice day today, it was a change. I went out with my brother and sister for lunch and we played pool for the afternoon. We've never actually all gone out for lunch together at the same time but it was really nice. Still absolutely stuffed from the burger and sweet potato fries I ate. :p
Sweet potato fries are gooooood. Haven't had them in ages tho.

So I completed a handgun course and a concealed weapons course in the last two weeks- it was so worth the time and money! Definitely good knowledge to have. I used to be pretty nervous around guns but now I'm kind of obsessed and have a new expensive hobby other than shopping. Can't wait to continue practicing with my own gun! Plus the instructor for one of my classes wasn't too shabby... I'm gonna be lingering around the gun range a bit more.

Welcome to the world of firearms. Just remember Col. Jeff Cooper four rules and you will be fine.

RULE 1
ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

The only exception to this occurs when one has a weapon in his\her hands and he\she has personally unloaded it for checking. As soon as he\she puts it down, Rule 1 applies again.

RULE 2
NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY

You may not wish to destroy it, but you must be clear in your mind that you are quite ready to if you let that muzzle cover the target. To allow a firearm to point at another human being is a deadly threat, and should always be treated as such.

RULE 3
KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER TIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

This we call the Golden Rule because its violation is responsible for about 80 percent of the firearms disasters we read about.

RULE 4
BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

You never shoot at anything until you have positively identified it. You never fire at a shadow, or a sound, or a suspected presence. You shoot only when you know absolutely what you are shooting at and what is beyond it.

Annnnd there is a solid reason why to provide yourself with knowledge and arm yourself. Lol
That's pretty freaky to hear though!

But yes, hopefully I won't ever need to use it. I know at one point I felt like I would never want to keep my gun on me, but now that I'm getting more comfortable with it it's like why not? It's better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have one.

Very nice, a firearms enthusiast! Lol

Yeah those are definitely important rules to follow. :)

CT: The final three David Bowie recordings were released yesterday as part of the "Lazarus (Original Cast Recording)" album. Feels like I'm saying goodbye to a great friend forever, but on a high note if that makes sense. It's bittersweet. They're great tracks (especially "No Plan"), but for all intents and purposes, they're effectively it. Baring some miracle, there will very likely never be NEW new David Bowie music ever again. Saying those words stings.

Well I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head
That didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't
Bad so I had one more for dessert

Then I fumbled through my closet
For my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
And I shaved my face
And combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs
To meet the day

I'd smoked my brain the night before
With cigarettes and songs
That I've been pickin'
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Cussin' at a can that he was kickin'

Then I crossed the empty street and
Caught the Sunday smell
Of someone fryin' chicken
And it took me back to something
That I'd lost somehow
Somewhere along the way

On the Sunday morning sidewalk
Wishing Lord that I was stoned
Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone
And there's nothing short of dying
Half as lonesome as the sound
On the sleeping city sidewalk
Sunday morning coming down

In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughing little girl
He was swingin'
And I stopped beside the Sunday school
And listened to the song
That they were singing

Then I headed back for home
And somewhere far away
A lonely bell was ringing
And it echoed thru the canyon like
The disappearing dreams of yesterday

On the Sunday morning sidewalk
Wishing Lord that I was stoned
Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone
And there's nothing short of dying
Half as lonesome as the sound
On the sleeping city sidewalk
Sunday morning coming down

The Walking Dead spoilers...
NOOOOOOO!! I still haven't gotten over Beth or even Milton, and now you kill him!? One of my favourites since the beginning!? I didn't think he'd actually be the one to die because there was last season's fake death thing and he died the same way in the comics.
I hate this show right now. I'm actually sobbing.
Also, I don't like the villains in TWD. Usually I really like villain characters but the ones in this series are all annoying, and the personal drama is boring. I want more places with zombies.

I can't believe somebody didn't know who I was talking about when I mentioned Louis Zamperini. Oh, just one of the most amazing and inspiring people ever.

I'm not. Google just told me that Louis Zamperini was a soldier, an athlete and a reborn Christian who turned other people into Christians as well, but what about any of that is so especially memorable or inspiring that it surprises you when others don't know him? I mean, if someone in our modern society had never heard of Jesus before (whether he was real or not), that would be astonishing, but...

I can't explain it nearly as good as books, but he was a record-breaking Olympic runner that went to war. His plane crashed over the ocean and most of the crew died, except for him and two guys, Phil and Mac. Mac eventually died on the raft, but Louie and Phil survived 47 days on a life raft and being in a POW camp, so needless to say they were really depressed, starving, and dehydrated. Louie was especially picked on by a guy they called The Bird. When the war ended he became an alcoholic and kept having nightmares of The Bird, and started making plans to kill him. He started getting in bad fights with his wife, but they did end up staying together. Louie eventually turned his life around, he learned to forgive all of his captors, including The Bird, he even wanted to meet up with them, and he lived the rest of his life pretty happily.
I highly recommend reading one of the books about it.
