Lately I’ve had the urge to play through the entire Silent Hill series. I might start that up here soon.
I do that from time to time (but just 1-4 of course), and its jarring how incredibly captivating the atmosphere in those games are. Every time I traverse back into the world of Silent Hill, I always feel like I'm inside an actual dream. It's both strange and wonderful.

The sad thing though is that my PS2 discs are starting to give up. A few months back my SH3 disc wasn't working, and on top of that I'm not sure how long my PS2 will hold either. I still have the digital version of SH1 for PS3 which is in great condition, but it's not enough. It's a real shame that Konami won't treat the Silent Hill series with the respect it truly deserves. The HD Collection was a big disgrace, and the fact that they're not giving players the option to download the old school games digitally for the next generation of consoles is insane.

But if the PS5 rumors are true, and it will become backwards-compatible with PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 games - that would be amazing.

Oooh that would be amazing if they do that with the PS5!

I'm concerned for my PS2 as well! It makes an awful lot of noise when I turn it on so I know that can't be good lol. I never downloaded the HD games but I've heard some poor reviews on them. But I really hated that they changed the voice actor for Heather! The original voice actress just had an edge to her and anyone else in place just doesn't seem fitting.

Konami really needs to get their crap together, as far as gaming companies go, it seems like they are the worst of the worst. I really wish they would move forward with the series and put out a new psychological horror classic. It's hard to believe that after P.T. and the complete cancelation of that game, they have done nothing to further the series or give any fans hope. Especially considering the amount of hype the demo received.

It is kind of interesting that they recently did a trademark filing for Silent Hill.

not entirely sure what that means but maybe its something.

At this point I'd settle for a solid Silent Hill movie to be made or, at the very least, a good book. I know the second movie was god awful, but the first movie was rather decent.

So I dusted off the Wii U and finally got to the Zelda HD remasters. I've only ever finished these games once before, which I'm ashamed to admit, but I recently got through Wind Waker HD and I'm almost done with Twilight Princess HD, and it's insane how much I've been picking up on while revisiting them, having knowledge of the timeline and all. The clues have always been there in dialogue, various locations, and subtext. Theories have often been discussed in the past and many, including myself, would usually write off connections as Nintendo just recycling and retelling the same story, but it's very evident now, that Nintendo has always had a vision for these games to all be interconnected, starting with Ocarina of Time. I'm really tempted to start Skyward Sword when I finish Twilight Princess, but Gears 5 is almost here and it'll have to wait til after then and I might even jump into Breath of the Wild afterwards as well.

Basically all of the Silent Hill fans I know have zero faith left in Konami. It'd take a miracle for them to win back the trust. The sad reality of that trademark filing is that it's probably just another pachinko machine. Lol.

After seeing what Capcom did with RE2, one can only hope that Konami would take notes and be like "Hey, seems you can make money out of that remake stuff, maybe we should remake Silent Hill too!". Preferably, they should remake SH1 first and NOT SH2. Worst case scenario is that its just another cash grab handed over to a small European studio with little to no experience, and we'd be left with a poorly made game that ****s up the story. Best case scenario is a beautifully made remake of SH1 that stays true to the story and lore while at the same time offering new and interesting gameplay aspects. Some people may not like to hear it, but I think the SH series needs to be brought back into the hands of a Japanese studio. Contrary to Resident Evil which, although made by Japanese people, has a very deep influence of Western horror and imagery, the Silent Hill series has always been deeply rooted in Japanese people's psychology. It just happens to take place in an American town.

Here's a YouTuber who remade the first level from SH1 in Unity:
and I think its wonderful to see what's possible....

Unfortunately, it's probably for another pachinko machine, like Jonipoon said. Even if, by some miracle, it was an actual game, I have little faith in Konami not f*cking it up at this point. Judging by their track record with the few games they DO still make, which have all been terrible. Super Bomberman R, Metal Gear Survive, cancelling Silent Hills after all that hype and now Contra: Rogue Corps looks like another half-baked Konami crapfest. Look at the comments section for the new game, it's filled with downvotes and nasty comments about the game, lol. And their track record wasn't great in 2012, back when they actually still cared about games.

And cancelling Silent Hills was unforgivable. Only Konami would be stupid enough to cancel a game with a highly-renowned game designer and horror film director co-directing starring one of the biggest names in TV as the lead with a highly-renowned horror manga writer (Junji Ito) working on it after a massively-popular demo that took the internet by storm. They're also the only company that will literally charge you $10 for a second save slot. And to think that some people on the internet were actually defending them doing this SMFH, charging for extra save slots is beyond scummy. What next? Charging to load the game up, charging to use the jump button? People are/were okay with this sh*t, seriously?

Angry Joe's reaction vid was f*cking priceless:

Normally I don't like Angry Joe's constant screaming, but it was justified in this case.

The next Silent Hill by Konami:

- $10 for each new save slot
- $5 for each automatic patch update
- $5 to enter final boss level
- $10 to unlock multiple endings on new playthrough
- $20 to unlock UFO ending

I haven't finished SH:Homecoming and I haven't played SH:Downpour, but I would like to play them as well. I have played the entire series otherwise and love the franchise. But could they really give us a good offering?

I don't know, but I am willing to give it a shot!

I had an urge to play ****tered Memories the other day, but I have too much to do to get there.

Homecoming is one of my favorites in the series and Downpour is...Ok. Worth playing, but not the best by far.

KennedyKiller - I played most of Homecoming and liked it. But I got it in October a few years ago and then got my PS4 that Christmas, so I never finished the game. It's on my long, long list of things to do.

Jen - I completely forgot about the Nintendo Direct, but I loved the new news from it.

A) The two new pokemon (Cramorant and Polteageist) are great additions... I especially like Polteageist since I am obviously in the tea business.
2) The new skins for the Mii fighters are great - I love seeing Zero from the Megaman X series in the games!
C) Banjo-Kazooie is so underrated and although I knew he'd be in Smash for a while, but I am glad to see new love for this hero!

Yeah Konami’s absurd to say the very least... maybe we don’t want anything more from them.

@KennedyKiller @UniqTeas

I actually really enjoyed Homecoming too. There is one particular ending that I really liked and consider my personal head cannon for that entry.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed with what was shown. I was only really interested in Luigi's Mansion 3 (which looks awesome, by the way), and Link's Awakening.

I will always have a special place in my heart for Pokémon, because I spent countless hours playing it when I was young. But I fell behind with the series long ago - the last Pokémon game I played was Platinum. It's drastically changed since those days and I feel like I'd need to catch up and ease myself gradually into all the modern changes they made. But I do admit that I still enjoy hearing news about Pokémon.

Apart from that, I wasn't really interested in much else. I'm done with Smash, I don't think I really have the skill to play online and I finished the World of Light section when it first released. After a few online matches with friends I soon grew bored, and new characters aren't enough to entice me back.

It's probably my fault that I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped, because I got my hopes up way too high for more info about Breath of the Wild 2, or a big announcement of some new game in development.

But yeah, on the plus side, Link's Awakening looks good and Luigi's Mansion 3 looks so awesome. I have so much love for Luigi's Mansion. It was such a charming game, and I'm so glad they're continuing the series.

With Link's Awakening being my absolute favorite Zelda game, I'm actually more hyped for this remake than BotW2. I feel like this game has gone underappreciated for YEARS, and it's finally getting the respect it deserves.

If anyone is interested in playing some Pokemon Battles including randomized teams and creating your own team, you can always go to Pokemon Showdown. It is a website that emulates battles with all of the real pokemon/items/abilities. I play Randomized Battles at least once a day. And when I have the feel for it, I create teams as well. Even if you have a mild interest in Pokemon, I would suggest checking it out.

Well, ladies and gents, there's a new Silent Hill in town...

AND IT'S A SLOT MACHINE!

Konami strikes again!

I told you not to get your hopes up when news broke that Konami renewed the Silent Hill trademark, and, well, I told you so.

So yeah, we might as well accept that a new Silent Hill game has about as good a chance of happening as Half Life 3 at this point, which is virtually 0 (some people actually still think HL3 might one day happen, but then again, there's also some people who still believe in Bigfoot, so...).

Even if it did, can anyone honestly expect modern day Konami NOT to f*ck it up after the bungled disasters that were Metal Gear Survive and Contra Rogue Corps?

I will say this, though: at least they're honest about selling gambling, unlike the EAs and 2Ks of the world.

But yeah, as usual, F*cKonami.

A small rundown of Konami's actions to date:

Canceled Silent Hills
Made Metal Gear Survive, a ****ty survival game that had very little to do with Metal Gear.
Made Contra: Rogue Corps, a ****ty run and gun that's the antithesis of Contra. Your guns friggin overheat! In a Contra game!
A mobile Castlevania game coming that is sure to be a pay to win dumpster fire
Silent Hill Escape, a straight up slot machine. So much for "surprise mechanics"

I heard that Konami had purchased a Silent Hill domain or something like that recently. I hope it isn't for this. A Silent Hill with modern graphics could be a TERRIFYING experience.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is really starting to look like the year's biggest surprise. I've always been more optimistic about the game than some of the obnoxious EA haters, because Respawn has a pretty good track record and have also been upfront about what they're trying to achieve with this game. Besides, every once in a while, EA does publish great games that they don't try to control, just like last year's A Way Out.

But, while I've always thought the game looked pretty good, I just kind of assumed it was gonna be an Uncharted-esque linear 8-12 hour experience with toned down combat from the Force Unleashed but with cinematic flare, but holy sh*t was I way off. I remember them saying something like they took inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metroid, and apparently Dark Souls, but I just didn't see it. Though, after recent previews, I can definitely see why and now my excitement has just skyrocketed. I've longed for a Star Wars experience such as this, and until now, The Force Unleashed was as good as it got for me. After the disappointment that was Gears 5, I'm very pleasantly surprised by this.
