Resident Evil: Requiem

People have entirely the wrong priorities, sometimes. In a series with serializes entries, what determine’s any entry’s relevance is story, first and foremost.

Oh I agree, definitely, but that's how it was back then. And bear in mind this was at a time when the Internet and social media were in it's infancy and therefore "mass New Age enlightenment" was virtually non existent so CV, 0, and REmake sold poorly due to tactfully bad marketing decisions by Capcom which gave us RE4 and the rest is history.

Clearly, his biggest fans here who can't stop talking about him. You know what they say about haters being fans. Yeah, classic case.

You’d be the first in line. You’d even ask him to splash some of his egg white on your own face.

At the time of its release it was indeed treated/marketed as some kind of nuanced side game. It was not until RE4 was released when CV's plot became cemented into the mainline series more solidly, which weirdly made it more popular in retrospect.

I know it was a mainline game which has been lost on people these days no thanks to Capcom.

But I didn’t mean to imply it wasn’t, just that (according to Dusk) Capcom are treating it like they would any other big budget main game. As opposed to remake 3 for example which they treated with much less respect.

I wasn’t playing the series at the time it came out, but I was playing before 4 ever came out, and I was never under any impression of CV being anything but the main entry game that came after 3 and before 0, with one line of dialogue squishing Survivor in there. I mean, CV was almost twice as long as any entry that came before it, that’s not the mark of a side story. When 4 came out and it was still being called 4 it irritated me, as it was clearly 5. But, whatevs.

Yes I feel I sorta answered this in my previous response to Ikawaru. Back then numbers did not mean mainline. Back when CV was an upcoming game it was just the next main RE game, just like 4, 5 and onwards were when they were announced.

Much has been said on that 'CV is the real RE3' topic, and it is definitely a sentiment I agree with. It was always called CV but it was always the next sequel, after 2, not 3. It was meant to be the third game, if you will (well, after they scrapped the HUNK based RE3).

0 is an odd one. Isn’t it called "zero" in some territories? Cute naming convention aside, I have always considered it as a spinoff.

While I disagree with your implication that CV was widely received as a mainline game in when it was released (it was not, as RE3 sold much more copies than CV due to the latter being released on an alien platform), that was kind of a strange post from T. A fan of somebody is somebody who perpetuates their thoughts/feelings/worldview. A critic is someone takes those things and shreds them so I do not know where that came from.

RE3 sold about 3.5 million, and CV sold like 2.9 million.

Considering CV launched on a DOA console and wasn’t numbered, while 3 was numbered, was a follow up to the stellar RE2 and most importantly was on the freaking PS1, I think CV performed better all things considered.

Projecting your own fantasies, huh? Went from hating Dusk to talking about his semen. You really are a superfan. However, I don't think this forum is the appropriate outlet for such discourse. More power to you, I'm not judging, but tone down the sexual fantasies.
