What's everybody playing?

Currently swashbuckling my way through Dead Island on Steam. I haven't played it since it's initial release in 2011. I remember playing as Xian the first time around and switching to Logan for a second and third run but this time I fancy Tanking with Sam B.

I'm playing the new edition which looks like the graphics have been upgraded. The game play is nice and basic but the infected seem to be a tad more glitchy than they were on the original release. They seem to run into dead ends or get snagged of things making for an easy kill.

I haven't stopped humming the opening soundtrack ever since replaying it and it seems easier. Or maybe I've just got more composure than my younger self.

7/10 from me so far, enjoying it.

Currently I’ve been playing Red Dead Online with my brother and my best friend. The desire to play any and all Assassin’s Creeds is building again. Rapidly, might I say lol

I have a mighty need.

I am on the last chapter of Red Dead Redemption 2 and it has been a wild ride so far. Really enjoying exploring the World and the characters. I unfortunately did look up to see what happens in the first game, so I kind of spoiled the ending for myself - but anyone who has played the first game will have already known, so I dont feel too much self-pity. I just wish there were better trophies for this game. Red Dead Online should have had its own separate set of trophies. I am just doing task after task with no reward.... because I LIKE IT?

I can see why this game got on a lot of GOTY lists.

I literally just decided to stop playing today because of this. Rockstar's achievements have been garbage lately and it's a shame a game like Red Dead Redemption II doesn't have many because they would have definitely incentivized more people to explore their beautiful open world to its fullest extent. I've done just about all I can that felt worth the effort to me. I might come back to it every now and then to do more challenges or get the rest of the cards, but I feel I've found just about every interesting thing there is to discover because I was genuinely invested in this game's world. It's just a shame there's no record indicating I've accomplished any of it.

If you haven't already, I recommend checking out Strange Man's videos on YouTube. There's tons of Red Dead videos and channels, but he's by far the best and most legit when it comes to definitive information and quality production. Many, myself included have speculated he's a game dev just spilling info nobody has figured out yet but I guarantee you'll appreciate the game 10x more after watching his stuff.

Personally my biggest gripe with Red Dead 2 was the ridiculously small amount of photos you could keep in your in-game camera roll on the PS4. I'm a big fan of taking photos and the beautiful scenery in this game makes for a lot of inspiration. I absolutely hated having to go back and delete older photos in order to make space for a new one. Seriously, you should be able to download the photos directly into your PS4 hard drive instead. I suppose that's another downside with consoles contra PC - no photo mode.

Red Dead does have a photo mode though, and you can take screenshots from your PS4. I personally didn't use the camera that much until the end of the game, so I never filled the camera roll, though I wasn't aware there was a limit on the Rockstar Social Club or whatever. I mostly used it to archive special point of interests or clues, but I have taken a bunch of photos off of the system itself.

I will absolutely check out the Strange Mans vids. I love to get lost in game lore when I am in the middle of a game --- hence my love for RE.

As for the photo options - I always forget to do that. I am sure I could take some breathtaking photos, but I always feel like it will distract me from playing the game. But I do want to get better with it!

I feel like I should finish up the main story of RDR2 this week or next, but I have so much to do in the game... maybe it will be an ongoing affair for a little while.

That’s right. I played RDR2 last time around November 2019, it seems they added the photo mode to PS4 after that.

Currently replaying Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the first time since it came out back on the Wii, but this time I'm playing the PS3 version on PS4 thanks to PSNow. It holds up in almost every regard but the damn camera. It's a shame that this game is no longer canon :(

Not getting as much gaming time as I would like lately, but when I do it's pretty much solidly Minecraft. Goodbye Deponia has a major game-breaking glitch in it, so I can't complete it at the moment.

Lately I've gone back to two games that I haven't played for a while. I've been playing a little Animal Crossing to relax and have been playing Dying Light on and off with some friends.

Oh, and Fall Guys still (season 4 update tomorrow!).

A while ago I bought a pack with the complete versions of Dishonored and Dishonored 2. I had played the first back in the PS3 and loved, so it was a no brainer for me. Since I didn't had the DLC's back then, I decided to start with the first one again (and doing way much better now, with my strategy and usage of powers) before tackling all of the new content. I'm surely having a blast. The world created for Dishonored is so amazing, and your powers making stealth so much fun. Or you can create the most unbeliavable murder scenes. Also, I love the freedom in the way you can complete your objectives.

Also, on my list after both Dishonoreds are Dying Light, Metro Exodus and Wolfenstein 2 (Sprinkled with Marvel's Avengers here and there, since I can finally play with my favorite avenger, Hawkeye. I bought the game on one of the sales but still haven't played, except for the demo back then. I was waiting for Hawkeye and to finish some stuff on my thesis before going into it). Still deciding which one, but it'll take a little while, so I'll decide that later.

I finally finished Red Dead 2 and it was a spectacular ride from start to finish. All of the critics were right about how the game starts off slow and then amps up with every chapter. By the time you get to Chapter 6, you really care about the people, the World, and the story and even with spoilers, I still felt the lasting impact of the fate of the Van Der Linde gang. I have more to do in the game even after the epilogue, but it took so much of my life up that I had to put it down and maybe, Ill feel like picking it back up in 2024 or something!

That Epilogue though was WAY more than an Epilogue. I did not mind it, but after every mission, I thought I was done with the story. Then, 3 more story missions would open up. Then 3 more. When it finally finished, I felt like I had seen the true ending to the game and I had that empty post game feeling that I love. I enjoyed how the game set up the original Red Dead Redemption, and hopefully, we get a remaster of that game because I would love to see more of the story!

RDR2 deserves all of the love it has gotten over the years and I am glad to have finally finished this masterpiece!

Been playing Control and goddamn, it's good. I'm a sucker for Metroidvanias, especially modern ones like Tomb Raider and Batman, and Remedy has always been one of my favorite developers, so this is a match made in heaven for me and so far, it's delivered. Remedy has always been great at crafting fully realized worlds full of style and personality and Control is no different with how beautifully weird and mysterious yet fully thought out it is.

The abilities you unlock in the game though are just so damn cool and quite honestly some of the most fun I've had with a video game's mechanics in recent times. You go from feeling like a Jedi by opening doors without touching them, force pushing everything in your path, and even using telekinesis to pick up literally anything and using them as projectiles to full blown Scarlet Witch sh*t, just levitating and hovering above your enemies, taking over their minds, throwing all sorts of sh*t, slamming down onto your enemies, and creating shields with debris and launching them. Just total chaotic bliss and it all feels so flawless and fluid, making you feel like a complete badass, and that's not even mentioning the gunplay which takes a page out of Max Payne's book and is just as fluid and seamless with your movements.

It's a borderline superhero game, but set in a creepy office building where logic just doesn't seem to exist. Though Jesse Faden actually has a similar relationship to her powers that Spider-Man does whenever bonded to the symbiote. You're constantly hearing what she's thinking as if she's talking to someone else because she's bonded to some mysterious entity that gave her what the game calls paranatural powers.

Seriously amazing game so far and I feel like I've done quite a lot, but the game just keeps going and introducing so much new and fun stuff. Honestly really sad how many people have slept on this game.

Finally finished my 2021 Resident Evil Anniversary Marathon of all 14 mainline games (includes originals, remakes, and story DLC’s) before RE8 hits. This took me over 94 hours and 82 deaths. It was a massive undertaking but it’s finally over. I feel the enjoyment factor for me personally was about 70% positive and 30% negative, with the later titles making up most of my grievances. It was a fun ride but I won’t be doing it again anytime soon haha.

Edit: after finishing RE8 it’s a 60% positive, 40% negative overall for the franchise.

That's awesome. I'd love to do that some day, but I have so many things to play combined with the fact that I've played just about each game multiple times throughout the years and still revisit them from time to time that it just feels redundant at this point.

Regardless, that's a hell of an undertaking though. Congrats. I am curious however if your thoughts on any particular game has changed at all during your replay. I know when I usually tackle a series back to back, I usually come away with a different understanding or appreciation for certain things since I'm experiencing years worth of evolution in such a short amount of time that it becomes easier to compare and contrast each game.

I agree. That is amazing that you had the fortitude to make it through the whole roster. I play like 2-3 RE titles a year so I can break it up. It must have felt great to blow past the finish line and feel that sense of accomplishment!

Been playing a LOT of Passpartout and also revisted Fallout New Vegas. Aside from the fact that every single bit of DLC is horribly broken, I remember now why it's probably my favourite of the Fallout games so far.

Cannot stress enough how broken the DLC is though. Like, wow.
