Oberyn's death is grisly and disturbing, but I'm not sure that I agree that Oberyn was murdered unjustly. By the standards of that world, they believe that Trials by Combat are decided by their god and that their god will protect the champion of the innocent. Oberyn didn't finish off the Mountain. Period. Now, their god is doesn't seem to exist (in fact, the only god we know to be real is Melisandre's) - but that's THEIR law and that's how justice is administered in that particularly society. He agreed, 100% of his own volition to fight the Mountain on Tyrion's behalf. He didn't have to - he could have killed the Mountain in whatever way he originally intended to but he was attracted to the idea of using the trial to get his revenge. I had forgotten about Robert's Rebellion, and you are right about Tywin killing the Targaryen babies. If any Lannister was somewhat responsible for Oberyn's death it is Tywin - although again, it's not as though Tywin forced Oberyn to fight.
Ellaria getting revenge on Cersei by killing Myrcella is far, far more unjust - at least to me. And remember - Catelyn (and Robb) were never going to harm Tywin's nephews, because murdering children is a line the Starks weren't willing to cross. Same with Doran, who told her to cut it loose with the revenge plot. She's also placed Tristan in an exceptionally dangerous position. I mean, not that I should talk or anything - I like Cersei and she's a million times more bat**** crazy. I just, I don't know. I loved Ellaria in season 4, but Ellaria's portrayal in 5 didn't sit well with me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Ellaria seek revenge in the book?
Anyway, I'd like to continue but it looks terrible for a mod to get so off-topic in a thread that has nothing to do with this, haha. PM me?
