do you know about the towel technique, it gets it working again if only for a few days, mine had the red rings as well, and until i sent it off i used the towel trick.

My boyfriends suggested it. Just haven't had much time to try it. Maybe I will today if he stays home from work.

theres no harm in trying it, and if you do it right then it should get it up and running for at least a few days, depending how damaged the hardware is.
just remember to remove the harddrive when you do it.
