Revelations 1 What do you think of RE Revelations ?

I've just finished episode 3 (on PS 3).
Until now the game is very good. They took notice about the bad points pointed by gamers about the last RE series. We can find back some conceptions typical of the first RE games :

- Cards and keys to find for different doors throughout the game.
- You come and go many times in the same places as soon as you resolve a puzzle or get a special key to get back to a door which was closed on your first visit.
- The notes and books one can find to read the stories of people who died or are surviving somewhere in the boat.
- The weapons are nearly exactly the same as the first classic ones.
- The item chests throughout the game.
- The way you check your inventory (same as the first games).
- Some monsters are the same as the big green gorilla-type monsters (like dinosaurs), I forgot the name. (They were in RE 1)
- You can save the game on your own, even if it's automatically saved too.

On the other hand, a very new thing which I find cool : You play with different characters throughout the story, in the same team (in a different time) or with a different team in a different place.

I'm really, really liking the game. Knowing it was a port, I wasn't expecting too much, but I've been dying to play it. The only thing that outdates it IMO is the movements, level of detail, and the voice acting. Even then, they tried to add SOOOO much detail to RE6, and it became so over loaded with visuals, that I think Revelations even looks A LOT better. I wasn't a fan of how RE6 looked, but I find the visuals really pleasing here.

Gameplaywise, I'm running around searching rooms, finding keys and trying to remember where I came from, doing puzzles, reading memos, and feeling creeped out. I feel like I'm playing a Resident Evil game. I know a lot of people would prefer zombies, and at first I was a bit turned off by the "Ooze". Upon playing it, the shadow and an arm coming around the corner in a bathroom, the movements of them (and the way they look at you), the sudden thing they do right before they attack you.....sooooo much creepier and scarier than any of the "zombies" I've seen in RE games for a while. They kind of remind me of silent hill, and this game did scare me a few times. Even in Raid mode, which is huge, way more in-depth than Mercenaries, and a lot more fun IMO. There's so much to do, I can play for a long time and it doesn't feel too repetitive.
The inventory doesn't feel contrived at all. I barely feel I have to manage it, and weapon customization is fun. The controls feel more classic, not quite as ninjalike as RE6, but more fluid than 5.

It's a great game. It's a creepy game too. It'll appeal to most fans I think. If they had stuck with this gameplay for RE6, it would've been killer. If they keep going in this direction for future games, and use it as an example, I think I'll have a lot to look forward to.

I love Revelations. I've already finished it, and I think it's great.
Raid mode is really fun, even though I haven't played much of it, and I just...uhg, I love (Almost) everything about this game.
(I really didn't like the final boss XC and the dodging system was a little off for me. I mean, I loved it when it, like, auto dodged for me, but when I was actually trying to dodge...)
The fact that you could add things to the weapons was a plus, although it makes me miss the Merchant from RE4 now XD
And I loved that you got to play as different people, at different points of time, with different skills.
idk, I really loved it, even though it was kinda short...and the music was great! And good at creating an atmosphere of tenseness and seclusion...
(Although, I didn't really find the game itself creepy?)

I already played Revelations on 3ds but I much prefer the controls on ps3. Raid mode is a lot better as far as the online goes and the fact that you can link your account with re.net & get bonus items is awesome.

One thing that's kinda bugging me though is the dodging, what do you actually press to dodge/evade enemies attacks. It said on the loading screen to press X & up or down I think it was but I find that sometimes it works but most of the time nothing happens and I get hit

the slow atmospheric theme (sound) of the Raid Mode lobby menu is rather creepy and melanchony, as far as the dodge system, i find it quite odd matter....as a whole not the best or worst....but is a good

I guess by creepy I mean the feeling of the environment. Poking carefully around every corner, the shadow effects. With visuals more like Remake or Zero it would've been pretty killer. Or the first time one of the shooting oozes cocks it's head back to look at you. Stuff like that creeps me out. Or the bathroom. Oh the bathroom lol.
I always think "creepy" when I think of zombies too, in the way they move (take Walking Dead for example). The zombies in RE tend to walk in the same generic manner, arms outstretched, or generally attacking you. I found the way that the oozes lurch toward you to be much creepier. The exploding guys didn't bother me at all in RE6, but they look pretty gross in Revelations. I think it's just the way they move.

I like the little changes they made to some things
Such as:
1. Not allowing just one person through a door at a time. Finally I don't have to have a door slammed in my face
2. When a sea creeper grabs Jill, she's stabs it first then kicks it away
3. Normans difficulty increase (shielded heart)
4. Wall blisters are not tacky and seem to fit in really well
5. The extra files to confirm some things that were not before. (Scarglimone originating from sharks and files on the new wall blisters)
6. Chris showing use of the genesis to give you a short tip to use it to see lasers
7. Grabbing items animation
8. The fact that in game "Rachel" is actually spelt "Rachael" for those who told me I was wrong
9. The extra items for raid mode
10. Costume compatibility in campaign

I'm about halfway through the game at this point (I decided not to rush it like I have with previous RE titles to savour it a bit more). I was excited to get it but I wasn't expecting to be blown away by it, but I really am!

I think the Ooze are a fantastic replacement for Zombies, very creepy. I was pleased to see the return of hunters, which are always fun to fight. I've enjoyed fighting all the enemies so far & many have made me jump (first game to make me do this in a long time).

The atmosphere in this game is perfect. It's creepy, as others have said it feels like a “true” Resident Evil game, there's even a Silent Hill vibe in some areas, which for me is absolutely great.

I'm enjoying the story far – I like how the game is in little episodes, it's a cute touch. I'm even beginning to like Jill.

I prefer the visuals in this to RE6 – there is something about the way the visuals have been done that makes it so much more creepy than a graphics heavy game.

I don't want to take anything away from RE6 because I think it's amazing & is one of my all time fave games. But as a Resident Evil fan I feel like this is the game, a lot of us have been waiting on for quite some time.

Also, I'm not normally a big fan of the extra content in Resident Evil games but I've thoroughly enjoyed my runs in Raid Mode. I can see myself spending quite a lot of time on this.

Revelations is a slow paced game, as opposed to 6....unless there is a countdown, i find myself not "sprinting" during my campain sessions and raid mode sessions unless there is a countdown

the wall blisters remind and look like a mutated Hunters [first thing that came to mind], of my opinion of the wall blisters *ha haa*

I'm only six chapters in to the campaign and, so far, I'm loving the hell out of it. The story is engrossing and, at times, it has some genuinely creepy sound design. The acting and character/facial animations could stand to be better (RE6 has spoiled me), but I don't really mind considering this was initially made for a handheld game system. I'm excited to see how it all ends up!

As for raid mode, I hope it becomes standard on future RE titles! The RPG elements tickle the obsessive portions of my brain in all the right ways, and I love the fact that you can choose your own load out no matter what character you are. That's something that I really hoped we'd get to do in RE6's Mercenaries mode (and was actually my biggest letdown in that game)... I also like that every character is at least a little different, so no-one is completely useless.

I'm just gonna copy and paste what I put in the other thread:

Pros:
- Although previously touched on above, I can't stress enough how important I find atmosphere in these games.I loved the interior of the ship, even though the Mansion idea is kind of stale at this point, it just gave me that classic feel.
- I liked a lot of the enemies in this game, not that there was a lot of variation, but the Ooze were fun and pretty much behaved like zombies with another "skin", so to speak. Also, the Scagdead was bad ass, reminded me of something from John Carpenters "The Thing".
- Raid Mode is surprisingly fun. Not the usual staple of Mercenaries, so it was a nice change up. There's also a ton of characters to unlock, so if you're like me and like to have absolutely everything, this'll keep you entertained without getting boring.
- Great pacing IMO. I never felt either overwhelmed with action, or that I was just walking around fiddling my thumbs, and the backtracking helped me enjoy it all the more.
- It was also nice to play as Jill again other than the brief Lost in Nightmares scenario.
- Jill's butt.

Cons:
- Jill's face, this is serious lolz. While I warmed up to it eventually, and I don't really think it looks bad, why change something so iconic and recognizable? Just doesn't make sense.
- No option for the laser sight. Just, why? With the cross-hair not being on point with the gun, I feel the option to have the laser would correct aiming issues.
- As mentioned above, the puzzles. The key/item hunting were cool, but the wire puzzles were just too repetitive and not much of a challenge.
- This is a minor complaint, because I know its a port from a handheld so its expected, but it was a little short. I was expecting this, for reasons I just mentioned but I just wanted to throw it out there.
- And lastly, the final boss. So. Damn. Annoying. Really neat character design, though! Looked badass ^_^

All in all this lived up to its hype for me, and I enjoyed the sheet out of it. Also gonna be addicted to Raid Mode for the foreseeable future, lolz. I'll give it a 8.5/10, most fun I've had playing an RE game in a while.

the wire puzzles were better in 3-ds because you had to use the analog to unscrew the panels and the touch screen to move the wires. they could have used the analogs for the screws here too everything else you wrote I totally agree with it! Im not going to quit until Hunk is unlocked!

the only negetive i can say is that on the weapon thing, especially when you aim...it isn't a laser pointer [targeting thing] but a cross-hair reticle thing, i hope upcoming DLC it gives you the option to choose the laser pointer [targeting thing], as both sets are called Resistance and Enchancement set, both seperate.....
