Screen Rant: Milla dishes the scoop on Retribution plot and characters

OK seriously this is getting ridiculous. It's like they take some ideas and the names of characters from the games, write them all on individual slips of paper, throw them in a box, and then randomly draw them out for their next movie script... and then Alice saves the day.

I LOVE how Milla says "Paul listens to the fans". Really? Cause if that were the case I would imagine that things would be a lot different/better than how they've been turning out. Maybe sit down and actually write a ****ing storyline that FLOWS nicely. Stop pulling **** out of your ass and feeding fans this horse crap. Period.

I can't even sit here and say that I respect Paul Anderson for making it into the industry and doing what he loves anymore when his work always seems half-assed. "Oh wouldn't that be cool if this happened? And then Alice comes in and dah di dah di dah!" NO! What would be cool is if you actually tried to write a decent Resident Evil movie. You had SOMETHING going with the first movie- it wasn't the greatest but it was on a decent track- but now you've completely lost even that and now you think bringing back the semi-cool characters WHO YOU CLEARLY KILLED OFF in that movie will save you with this one. No. No it wont. Lets be a little bit more realistic and coherent with this.

I completely agree with all that you just said, I know the movies are meant to be different than the games but... at least stick to the same genre! The movies should be a survivor/horror.. like the games. Yes like bSTAR said, Paul had something going with the first movie. It was an original location, original characters and that movie was scary. But then he ****ed up the second movie by giving Alice ****ing superpowers! WTF? If the second movie didn't have Alice and was more focused on Jill then it would pass as a good movie. On a positive side, these characters Paul is brining in from the games has gotten me excited about this movie. Even though he's already ****ed up Leon's character, I'm still holding hope that he will find the right actors for Ada and Barry.. if he doesn't then i've lost all faith in the movies. Sorry about the long rant!
 
For me it isn't even that the genre for the film series isn't consistent. We all know that the games have changed over time and have become more action packed. It happens with series sometimes. Look at the movies Alien and Aliens for example; Alien is much more horror based while Aliens is more action. Both are still excellent movies and still end up working well together.
The thing is that they don't even know what the hell they want to do next with this series. They just keep adding and adding making it a jumbled up mess. And fans just keep eating it all up and some even say that the sh*t tastes great.
I don't mind that the series star character is Alice, but when they completely FAIL at properly writing in the actual characters from the games into the movie storyline and then choose medicore actors and actresses who share very few physical features to play these characters- it's just a slap in the face. Very unconvincing.
 
True, If Alice didn't have superpowers then I wouldn't mind her in every film either, its just to much action and
less horror if you ask me. :P

She did lose her powers in start of the last movie, it was the most action packed film yet, lol. The RE movies were never meant to be horror to start with, they are more Sci-Fi if anything.
 
Yeah, but I don't mind Sci-Fi or Horror.But I'm not that into the genre of Absolute Crap.I do kinda like some of the movies,but the last 2 were ****

Ada Wong has been confirmed also but the actress as of now, not yet. Chris, Claire and K-Mart apparently have been abducted by Umbrella so they won't be in the movie. Also Milla mentioned wanting to do a sixth film with everyone back.

Erg. Im never going to pay to see these movies, except on DVD a year after release when its cheep.

My money will never support this. I say Boycott the film. Anybody ells with me?
 
I love the films, and am super excited for Resident Evil: Retribution. I think that the story may show how Jill knew about the zombies and show Leon "die". But in the present, it will continue the story and Alice will meet Leon (who didn't really die) and friends and try to save Jill from being evil. Just a thought. I'm not sure about how Rain, Carlos, and One are coming back...but I am interested to see!

Well, Milla said it's not a prequel when she said that "it began 10 years ago". But I think that there is going to be some sort of flashback. Whether it is through someone telling the other characters their story, or just a dream of the past...I'm not sure. Maybe Paul decided to try and make it have a similar storytelling style to the Saw movies where it's gonna continue moving forward, but tell about some hidden secrets to fill in some gaps from the past. I think that would be cool!
