New System is Causing Havok

I realize you had your reasons to change from V-Bulletin to whatever this new one is, but it is screwing everything up for me.
-Every thread Ive made is no longer there and can not be found even with this Search Tool
-I can not see any of the features on my bar above where I post (ie: Bold icon, Italics)
-Various other threads are missing too

Im not asking to change back but can you PLEASE get a mod to fix these. I did want to see my threads again.

EDIT: The threads are permanently gone it seems. As reperation I would like a REvelations/Mercenaries 3D section added to the forums, that would make up for it for me.

Yeah, pretty much. Yes, the site is backed up but the threads cannot be ported - it's an issue no one really knows the cause of and it hasn't happened anywhere else. Threads that are gone are most likely gone forever but I'm sure you guys are more than capable of writing loads more new ones ;)

It's a shame and very frustrating but there is nothing Steve can do so no amount of questions and ideas is going to change that - just have to be proactive and make lots of awesome new threads, which you are all very good at. See it as an opportunity to start afresh in some places, perhaps :)

As for buttons which cannot be seen, Steve's fixing that so don't worry. With the dark skin it requires a little more tweaking but it should be back to normal very soon.
 
Many threads that are lost had high value and while we can create new threads, we cannot re-create what is gone. What about restoring the backup and go from there? Is that not an option because it is too much work?
You just said no ideas are going to help, and I'm afraid I'm doing exactly that. :(
 
Well that majorly sucks. Im sorry to whoever decided to change the system, but maybe it would have been nice to back up the files or something so we didnt lose a lot of them. I mean, EVERY thread Ive ever made is gone, and my fave fanfic's thread is now gone.

We need reperation. I say to pay us back we include a REvelations/Mercenaries 3D section. I will be happy with that since we really dont have place to talk about it.

Not to sound like a prick but the change was needed for higher priorities than the threads. I believe the threads were backed up but because of some crossover malfunction they cant be added. I agree that its not the most desired effect but any threads with just information that you wanted to keep should have been backed up on your own because we had ample time knowing about the new system going into effect. Unless you golded up the site itself is free i dont think any 'reparations' are needed except for those who paid $$. But i'm sure you're not really that steamed about it

I think you are right except for one thing. It was not feasible to save that much on our own computers, we would have had to save an enormous amount of files. And forum topics was the least likely thing to get lost in the process, what was more uncertain was profile visitor messages.
 
Capcomplicated is right - ALL threads are backed up weekly regardless but because of a malfunction that XenForo staff could not have predicted (and are still baffled as to what has happened) a number of threads could not be moved over. Steve could re-migrate all over again and the threads would still not turn up - it's not about too much hard work or him being lazy or whatever; it just cannot be fixed. You're more than welcome to try bitching at Steve too but he'll tell you the same thing - we cannot fix this, it's out of our control and if it bothers you that much then you are welcome to re-post your fan fictions, favourite threads and anything else you think is missing. I appreciate it's not possible to remember every topic and I'm not expecting photographic memories but just complaining when there is NOTHING that can be done is utterly pointless.
 
GASP! DOUBLE POST!

Anyway, what I can do which will take me a while but it's the best compromise I can manage right now is get a list of all the thread titles that are missing (fanfics not included because they aren't discussions - repost your fanfics instead) to jog some memories as to what can be posted about. Then people can either make new threads with those titles to get things going again or I can manually search for the first post in each of those missing threads to kick start you off - whichever you prefer.

Will that be a start, do you think? These are going to be very difficult to track down and there is a possibility it won't be something that can be done but I think it's worth a try. I'll let you know if it's successful or not so fingers crossed it'll work and we'll get some threads back again :)
