What do you want to be?

What do you want to be when you grown up? or what did you want to be when you were a kid?

I'm going to be a guitarist, its not a want to be, im gonna be, im gonna do everything to the impossible to be a guitarist, even if i have to move to a different country since it is very hard to be a guitarist here, but it is my dream, it goes against everything my parents say, but it is what i want to be, only someone who truly knows me or loves guitar as much as I do understands me, maybe some of you think im crazy, but so be it

I always wanted to be a lawyer ever since I was little, but you need an A to A+ average to get into law school, and I'm not sure I can achieve that. You basically have to get 100% on almost everything, which is hard, especially in my program since everything is so argument-based.

So, I need to get into graduate school and do my Masters in public policy administration. I'd love to a public policy analyst for the government, that's my dream job at the moment.

Rather I want to be a Hotel/Motel manager, office manager, or a Wine Maker. I also want to be a VG Designer or a FBI Agent if I can.

Have you ever worked in a hotel before, Bighard Cheater? I'm just asking, because I've worked both front desk and reservations before and it's not as easy as it looks, you have to put up with alot of bullsh*t. And I mean ALOT. I bet it pays nicely though if you're a senior manager.

I'd like to be either an artist or game designer. Making my own game or at least drawing characters/enemies for a game would be cool.

Actually I haven't worked at a Hotel or a Motel because I am to young. But hearing what you had to do that sounds alot harder than the school canteen at my school when I have to work during ballgames.

Looks like I can mark Hotel/Motel Manager off my list, that sounds way to hard to do. I guess I can do Office Managing or make some wine when I get old enough. Or if my school lets me I can be a VG Designer or a FBI Agent.

Too right - I worked in a hotel when I left college and it was the crappiest job I ever had; everyone yells at you if you're front of house or management treat you like crap if you're working the kitchens or cleaning the bedrooms. I preferred being a cleaner (my previous job) and I was paid better too...

As for me, I don't think I'll ever grow up and find a proper job - I'm a company director at the moment but it's not what I want to be doing, it just fills the time. Had I not had my first child, I would most likely currently be in a band which was what I was doing before Jessica was born - had a contract lined up ready for when I finished my exams but circumstances got in the way and it's now a fond yet distant memory. Would have been pretty cool though...

I dunno what I'll be - I'm pushing 30 now and to be honest I'll probably remain as I am, raising my kids and pottering along, quite content. I'm not one for travel or lots of attention so being in a band probably wouldn't have worked out so great in the end anyway - plus I wouldn't have my kids or Steve had I continued down that road so there's no regrets really, for me...

Amen. While I was lucky enough to have some pretty great management, it was mainly the customers that I wanted to kill. I think when you work front desk and deal with all kinds of different people on a daily basis, you start to realize how... stupid people are. And I know that's an awful thing for me to say- but I actually got yelled at by a customer because it was raining. I wanted to tell them to go f*ck themselves so bad. I don't know, for the bullsh*t you have to take when working front desk, they really should be paid more.

Reservations screwed up one day when I was left on my own to manage the front desk (I worked for a large hotel chain at the time) and two sporting groups arrived for the same rooms. When I explained the double booking situation, one man just got right in my face and yelled abuse until he went purple. Then when I had been able to fix the problem, the same guy patted me on the cheek like I was 7 years old and said "you're only a girl, after all - it's to be expected that you can't manage much". I'm no feminist, as you all should know by now, but that really ticked me off so I gave him a three AM automated wake-up call for his entire stay there using the TV in his room as the alarm. Not only was it loud, it was also using hardcore pornography as the alarm channel. Cost him a fortune when it came to check-out time as no one would believe he hadn't opted for it himself. Happy days...

OMG, I would have broken his fingers. We got alot of sports teams too... golfers were the worst. I really can't believe the nerve of some of these guys... I wasn't there that night, but I had read in the log book that the night before, this one ****-drunk golfer whose keys had been demagnetized came to the front desk for another set - this guy was so f'in degenerate that he was running his mouth off about having Rikki (the girl who was at the desk at the time) come up to his room and perform fellatio on him. Both the staff and the guests were absolutely baffled why the manager let him stay, if I was the manager I would have kicked him out right then and there.

Oh gosh, at least it was hardly ever boring. I have so many stories from working there these past couple of years, it was so bad. I really hope my hotel days are over.

He probably was p#@sed when he got kept on getting the 3am wake up call and the high bill for staying. I wish I could have seen that. I would have been laughing everytime he woke up from the porn.

When he patted you on the cheek you probably wanted to kick him in private area for that.

Well, when I was younger I wanted to grow up to be an FBI agent, then I changed my mind and wanted to become a Psychiatrist, then I decided to be a Criminal Psychologist for the FBI, then I got to high school, ended up screwing around, eventually dropped out, worked a few dead end jobs, came home everyday depressed, so I decided that I will follow my dreams of making art and movies, working on my first film as of now. Wow, longest sentence in history right there, Lol.

Longest sentence indeed.

I dont know what im going to be. shouldnt i think of that at 15

Some people can go their whole lives without actually knowing what it is they want to be. It's not easy finding something you want to do, that you know you'll be happy doing the rest of your life.

Best answer ever, right there.

I will never ever work in a hotel again - be it a simple bed and breakfast or a multinational chain, I could never endure the kind of crappy treatment, obnoxious people and pitiful salary like I had in that job. I got less than 8 grand a year for that job before tax and it wasn't enough to even rent a place to live, let alone anything else like buying food or paying bills. I was there less than a year before I left because everything about it sucked so bad.

believe me i know i will be happy with what i want to be, i couldnt be happy with anything else, i would just feel depressed for doing a job that i dont like everyday, even if it pays good, like being a doctor

My friend is really good on guitar but now all he does is jam in a shed with his band smoking pot and stuff like that haha he is the best player I know though.

What's funny is when I was younger I wanted to be a policemen, but now I hate the police to much plus I'd fail the drug tests. I just want a job so I can have some money. Right now im trying to get a health an saftey card so I can work on building sites.

I hope to benifit from this type of work physically.

My first goal is to become an civil engineer. Second Goal is to do some military service, Special forces somthing in that way. These are my two priority goals.
