What do you guys do when you're depressed?

JujuLodestar

Lurking is my jam.
I'm currently depressed right now and wish for some comfort but all in vain so i thought these guys act like family so i should ask you guys
any suggestions?

Turn off everything in your room at the walls, along with your phone and everything else.

Darken the room and go lay down on your bed and just let the junk filter away from your mind as it eventually will... Its about after about ten minutes your brain starts to get active which results in you becoming restless...it's at this point, i presume, that you throw yourself out of bed and go distract yourself with a game or something....

Stick with it... and face up to the things that are pestering you. Take note of the questions you ask yourself, then go seek the answers on any subject whatever it is.

You're a young man so i'll take the guess that you have grown older and bored with old infatuations, yet still feel too young to be so disconnected with everything....

that my dear friend is the key word... Disconnected....

Depression is not a natural state of mind... it's time for you to take '' that '' long walk inwards and search your soul.

You've become disconnected by the sounds of things, so it's now a good idea to go find yourself.

ps,

don't worry about not taking '' that '' walk.. most people don't...most people just stick their heads in a distraction and pretend it never happened, then in turn allow depression to gnaw at them forever more.

Ya know...that sounds insanely familer can't recall
But...one things for sure is that i always question myself when i'm depressed
when you said most people don't Keyword ''most'' i'm not like most i do things others wouldn't dream of
So it's not anything new to me I'll willingly take my friends death as long as they can survive

Time to cut the crap and start enjoying life.

do some mental spring cleaning.

take some of that old garbage to the dump and leave it there... find yourself, get a purpose and go chase it.

if its more medical than it is, attitude, then seek medical advice.

When you feel depressed it feels like the whole worlds on your shoulders and no one is willing to help. Now people saythat you should sit alone either in the dark, in the house etc. Now when im depressed i usually try and tackle the issue thats making me depressed (Assuming its not a medical issue) but when i cant, i focus all my attention onto something be it online gaming, business idea etc i am a firm believer that when you focus your mind when your depressed you come up with the best ideas. Also Music is a fantatsic thing to lift your spirits but none of this dingy gothic stuff... songs like Jamacian Dance by the Konshens or Tarzan boy by Baltimora (Strange songs but great when your down)

Just my advice bud

Walk outside somewhere, anywhere. Don't stick indoors all day.Fresh air, sunlight(if you can get some).
Learn a skill. Cooking food is fricken amazing once you start getting into it and learn some ground basics.
Mindfulness/Meditation.
Massage
Watch inspirations.
Talk to someone if i can!
Comedy!
Play an online game

When I'm depressed I do things no one else should do so I won't say what *I* do, but I'll tell you what you SHOULD do. The world is your oyster, go outside, make an idiot out of yourself (most times that's what makes you "cool" is when you have the confidence to not give a f*ck), go to a thrift store and buy pottery or anything fragile and smash that sh*t, but make sure to wear protective goggles and utility gloves. That's the best therapy for me.... smashing things, it makes me so happy.

Watch Fight Club, you'll learn a few things from that as well.

I usually play guitar or listen to music, which is a lot of time since I spend like most of the time depressed(for multiple reasons) so it has become a natural state of mind for me xD

Only you know what works for you. We can give you suggestions based on what works for us or other people, but if it isn't the kind of thing you are into then it's not going to help. The best thing to do when you are depressed is something that you like to do: something that makes you happy. You also have to let yourself self feel happy. Some people get stuck in a rut and "want" to feel happy again, but don't allow themselves to. The right attitude is very important.

But perhaps you would type it? Different things people do in the same situation is pretty interesting to read.

Well... What *I* do is quite depressing... I don't recommend anyone else do this, but I tend to drink a lot, smoke, and do pretty much everything that isn't good for my health. It's quite sad really, and no one should EVER start this, because it's a downhill battle and no one will win except alcohol and whatever drug you're addicted to. If you plan on living after 40, don't do what I do.

This is personal, but when I was younger I was even addicted to cutting, pills, and whatever I could do to *try* and kill myself. I'm glad I'm alive today, clearly my failed attempts at suicide were a sign I needed to live. They weren't cries for attention either as I never told anyone and I'm a very private person. I just pushed everyone I was close to away so I could try to kill myself, it was a very dark time for me as my ex girlfriend of 3 years had been cheating on me and I had no reason to live... or so I thought.

I'm so glad I finally got over her and the bullsh!t I thought were real problems but in reality, they were nothing compared to what is going on around the world. Now, I want nothing more than to help others. I feel as though that is my calling in life. :) I still have my problems and a few addictions, but I've worked through the worst of it and am willing to fight the rest!
