I havn't played RE5 yet, but can someone tell me what was the virus Wesker injected on himself in RE1?

No, he injected himself with a phial before showing Chris the tyrant for the first time.

But the virus is unstabil which means he must inject himself with an district amount of antidote to keep the virus in shape or else somthing bad will happen to him, I wonder what?
