Lurker
You guys should have done something about SOPA when you had the chance, when it was valuable to do so. You all have voices. Maybe if you used them we would have gotten somewhere with stopping the bill. Now there is nothing we can do. Your stupid facebook petitions that you signed get us nowhere. Vocalize your thoughts instead of signing a stupid petition and saying "lololol i signed for rulz. Fuk guvrmint." I don't mean to discourage people but if you payed more attention we could stop ****ty bills like this being passed. To people out of the country, this involves you too but not as much. You couldn't have done anything except sign petitions. This is aimed at the Americans.

I'm not American but I did something. I could always have done more, but I have emailed friends and I have voted in Wikipedia for its black-out today. I have signed petitions on the Internet that have been forwarded to US Senators.

Americans ought to rally in the streets in every city in a similar fashion as Occupy Wall Street.

http://fightforthefuture.org/pipa/

IF THEY FIND 1 COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT THEY CAN SHUT DOWN WHOLE WEBSITES LIKE YOUTUBE!!!GET THE **** ON IT EVEN IF YOU AREN'T IN AMERICA!!!This is not copyright infringment, these people just want more power.Once they can do one thing, they will do another.

Petition does make an impression on the wider public but it doesn't do **** to the people who want to enforce these acts...unless they are ready to storm the gates. And if this happens in America, it can happen here too, infact it nearly did about 2 years ago but it wasnt called SOPA or PIPA.Free information is the worse thing that can happen to corporation and government hence why they are trying to block it.

I was watching a documentary yesterday on Nikola Tesla. He was going to power the entire world with free clean unlimited wireless electricity for everyone on the planet over 100 YEARS AGO and of course comes the banks/government, he refuses to help them and he gets shut down! Our technology and social/cultural values are way to far apart and we have something like this Technology>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Social/cultural values.Anyway this is not the spot.

Um.....um what? I'm sorry but first of all calm down your socks. Ssh. And secondly the bill isn't going to be voted on until the 24th. Annnd last I heard (a few hours ago) Obama was opposed to the bill saying he would veto it soooo......?

What?

He did. They appealed it. And the sooner the date the worse. It gives fewer time, so just procrastinating won't get us anywhere.

Well the government tend to flip flop on everything, turn in the publics favour and then blatantly lie.If a man like Obama can sign the NDAA bill(kill or put US citizens in Jail without evidence or a trial) he can definitely sign an internet bill.

Ok well in your first post you were acting like it was already too late like they passed it already. So I got confused.

I don't understand how this bill doesn't violate the Bill of Rights...This is just as bad as Marshall Law Act..

I got an idea, some of the top heads in the USA are perhaps the same individuals as the top heads in Half-Life 2....
There were really draconian laws in City 17 in H-L 2. <_<

Correction: it will happen. The internet is centered in the US. If it gets blacklisted here it becomes blacklisted internationally.

I've emailed my senators and our member of the House of Representatives but to no avail. It's sad when you realize just how little elected officials choose to represent the people who elected them.

Interesting fact: I found out today that the bill authorizing martial law in the US was suggested to it's author (whichever damn senator he is. they're all the same.) by the Obama administration. This type of activity contradicts why we have 3 separate branches to our government. They are supposed to oppose one another and keep eachother in line, not rally under a banner of detaining citizens or corporate interests. All of this just ****ing sickens me.

Okay so I got a e-mail from Demand Progress today about SOPA and PIPA entitled "Victory". This is what it reads (This is not including the links as they are the same links that they sent with all their e-mails asking for a donation.).

"Kasey,
Wow. We just won.
From the Associated Press:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he was postponing a test vote set for Tuesday "in light of recent events."
So, in other words, because of all of us. Absolutely amazing.
Demand Progress has been fighting this legislation for more than a year -- having grown from nothing to over one million members during that period.

Even the Motion Picture Association's Chris Dodd is awed by what just happened. Here's what he said yesterday:
“This is altogether a new effect,” Mr. Dodd said, comparing the online movement to the Arab Spring. He could not remember seeing “an effort that was moving with this degree of support change this dramatically” in the last four decades, he added."
Now I did read on wikipedia that the postponement of PIPA is indefinate. I also read that SOPA would not be voted on until a consensus could be agreed on.

Marshall law is the worst thing to happen to this country...I don't understand how they see this as just...Why it was invented...

And it's good to hear that SOPA was postponed, but it's not over...We still need to rally up to make sure it stays down for good...Is anybody else joining the twenty-four hour Facebook boycott...Think of all the advertising that is done on the world's largest social network...A boycott of that would be immense...I'm doing it, you guys make sure you do too if you have a face book...It starts midnight this Monday...

I thought i'd give an update with this incredible article.

http://rt.com/usa/news/internet-war-new-tribler-941/

Everyone is leaving the pirate bays and moving to a medium which is impossible to track for it is decentralised(It is peer to peer, people purely uploading downloading from other people, there is no host/website so to speak).I checked the website and its down temporarily for there are too many people on there:eek: but the download option is still available

I think I've heard "impossible to track" many times before. I don't see myself using this new service, but it indeed sounds interesting.

I also read other articles on that website, like this one: Super Bowl crackdown: US sacks more than 300 websites. It's crazy that they call sports events "intellectual property".
