Hopefully, they’ll be connecting those games of the past with the games of the recent past as well. They’ve played coy by giving the Mold storyline only peripheral and tenuous connections to the overarching Umbrella storyline, and while RE4 was able to justify itself with that due to the involvement of 3 major characters of the past, this technically being the third game of the new era of the series, it should be linking the newly spun threads together, especially with whole sense of Going Back being the prevalent theme.

I think the continuation of the Village story may happen in RE10. Director Nakanishi went from developing RE7 to RE9 and was not involved in Village. So the team that developed Village is presumably working on RE10 now. It's a staggered development cycle where they work on multiple games at once. I'm speculating that the criticism Nakanishi received for RE7 not relating to the story and characters of the past games very much, is why he decided to go back to Raccoon City and Umbrella and finish that story allowing the series to move on. RE10 developed by the other team could continue the story from Village.

This is where we disagree, I know how these promotional interviews work, it’s just about understanding language; they speak in broad strokes. Alyssa is confirmed, so he’s telling the truth when he says "it features characters from Raccoon City, from Outbreak".

I see your side of the argument, it’s how I can say that you may be right, that there are distinctions. But i’m saying there really might not be that much to it. You have to bear in mind this man knows exactly where he is, what he can/can’t confirm or allude to and knows not to be too specific or revealing (it’s just language and verbal comprehension really).

I see your side of the argument, it’s how I can say that you may be right, that there are distinctions. But i’m saying there really might not be that much to it. You have to bear in mind this man knows exactly where he is, what he can/can’t confirm or allude to and knows not to be too specific or revealing (it’s just language and verbal comprehension really).

I would believe a passionate slip of the tongue before ever assuming the guy was just carelessly speaking about his game for absolutely no reason at all when the question could have been answered in a much more concise manner.

He’s not misrepresenting the game, I don’t think so. And no it’s not cryptic either. I think his words align perfectly with what we’ve been told and shown. I thought i’d made that clear.

And where is he "constantly" bringing him up? What are you on about? Apart from the original reveal name drop, and we know full well why that happened, there has been only one other time:

And he’s not shutting down Leon because he’s in the game right? Yes we know. They’re also not going to douse the flames of a big rumour like that regardless.

They have, however, spoken about the concerns of rumours and how they inadvertently frustrate fans who blame them for not delivering on things that were only ever rumoured.

Why they bring him up isn't relevant. They don't have to, and that's why it's unprompted. They've taken a rather WWE approach to their marketing for this game, and that's what has made this entire thing unusual.

He's given that same answer about Grace’s reaction to herbs in another interview as well but only mentioned Leon in it. Granted, having looked deeper into it, Leon was already a topic of conversation before that.

They also told IGN before that they wouldn't be answering questions about Leon, which they likely told all of the media outlets, except IGN was the only one to reference it in their article.

Speaking a little too much about your game isn't the same as flat out lying about it. Which you're saying he's doing because he's "speaking in broad strokes" and somehow means something entirely different from what he's actually saying.

Your interpretation of mine couldn’t be more wrong. I don’t know how many more times or in how many different ways I have to tell you that what he said lines up with the facts we know.

It could be just Alyssa, still lines up. Could be more than Alyssa, still lines up. Does that help? Let me save you the trouble of telling me it doesn’t line up if he only means Alyssa: it does.

They do have to, otherwise they don’t look tuned in to what people are talking about. But it’s hard to believe they’re not playing on it whether it’s true or not because they win either way: either he’s in it and it all makes sense, or he isn’t, and well… it all makes sense. Does that make sense?

Granted, having looked deeper into it, Leon was already a topic of conversation before that.

Yes the IGN interviewer had already brought him into the conversation twice. But they’d used Leon before, in the reveal, to draw a contrast between the reaction of a character like Grace to that of a veteran, so it’s logical he’d come up again if that context did. Like the interview I linked, he just happened to also mention Chris in that one too.

Leon and Chris are both RE’s dominating figures. Who else is he gonna mention? Jill? Claire? Rebecca? Come on.

Final point; I don’t think he slipped up, I think that’s just ridiculous frankly, and I don’t think he’s choosing his words carefully. I don’t think he has an agenda, he just knows what he is ready to talk about and what he’s keeping under wraps. Okay?
