Question about ads on the site

Problem, I followed your instructions for the complete PC cleanup, but the downloads for Free Windows Registry Cleaner and CleanmyPC Registry never work. They always go to about half way in a second, and then stop, and not move ever. I've waited for like a half hour and they don't budge, I've even tried canceling and retrying the downloads, still nothing. Pic related, this is how far it gets before it stops.

Edit: This message came up, which seems to be describing the problem.

On the CNET page for Free Windows Registry Cleaner, try clicking the little text that says "direct download" right beneath the green button.
Does Free Windows Registry Cleaner work when you try to download it from this site? Click here for link.

As for CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner, I wouldn't bother with it unless you intend to buy it. Skip that program and lets just focus on getting the other registry cleaner up and running. :)

The download worked when I got it from that site. I started the computer in safe mode, ran rkill, then FWRR, then SAS and MWB at the same time, beginning with SAS. I choose the complete scan option for both to be as thorough as possible. The whole process took about three hours, and they found over 300 things, I made sure to remove all of them with both programs.

I no longer see those weirdly worded ads, but the little X and the invisible box are still there, although they are different now. I no longer get the little hand curser whenever I hover over the bottom left corner of the screen, and I can now click on links normally over there like page numbers. The little X is still there, and when I right click on it and press "inspect element," it reveals the outline of a little box, similar to the old one. The first link I click on when I search google or bing is still redirected to some random site I have blacklisted.

It's good that they removed all that other stuff. Since you're still redirecting to that site, my first instinct is to say that your computer has been hijacked. The good news is that SAS and MBAM worked. That's awesome. Your run-of-the-mill virus crap is gone. The bad news is that I can't help you with this. I've taken care of hijacks before, but it can be risky business (Romero, I'm talking about a certain program here).

Unless another member here has any bright ideas, I'm going to say you should register at the bleeping computer forums and tell them everything you've told us. They're the kings of free tech support. The downside is you may need to wait a few days for a reply depending on how busy they are. Don't worry, they'll sort it out just fine.

Good luck!

First i am sorry to bump this topic. I know it is hatefull to bump old topics.
But i just want to add a solution. Since this girl had it also this ad virus. It is simple to remove this. I done it perfectly even my antivirus then asked to remove agian. If your check your host file.If you search for the "windows hosts file editor. It open your host file directly). It is true no antivirus finds this virus. Because it is just an ip-adres written in that folder. No antivirus wil even see this as a virus. But when you check the host file scroll down. Then you will see some adverts ip address remove them. And you will no longer see these boxes appearing agian.
Path would be windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
you can open this in wordpad or any text source.

And yeah i did played long ago resident evil.

Greetings Elrawen
