Use a currency converter or somthin' to find out how much it would be in euro. Then jut ask about paying steve that amount in euros. If steve has a paypal he can convert that currency literlaly.

It's no problem. :) You just choose dollars or pounds and PayPall will bill you in your currency.
I chose pay in dollars and I was billed in Norwegian kroner.

Aintnoscrub and Romero are correct; Paypal will do the exchange from euros to pounds/dollars itself, you don't have to worry about that. :)
 
Maybe she doesn't know PayPal so well. You can learn about it on Wikipedia. There are sections about security and also criticism. I'm generally cautious and sceptical but I chose to use it.

If your mom won't use PayPal, can not you create an account yourself? Or are you too young? Also you could ask some of your friends if they got PayPal and ask them to help you?
