Is the PS3 Slim better than the Original PS3??~~~

Ok so I'm asking this because I'm thinking of getting a PS3~~~

And well I've heard that the PS3 Slim has this improvements:
A regular Power cable, no big thing stuck on it anymore~~~
Not really any other things, two USB cables, 120 build in memory, buttons that are actually buttons now instead on like an i-touch button~~~
You can still upgrade the hard drive~~~

Cause people say that cause it's slimmer there are it's flaws~~~
And like the fan noise might not be as loud but it might not run as fast~~~

I seriously can't wait to get it then =p~~~ and play with you guys =p~~~

Why worry about the fan not running as fast? It'll run as fast as needed, and I think you're right the slim PS3 being quieter.

The performance should be the same as before.

I would recomend the Original PS3 for a few reasons.

1. It's the original PS3, it's an icon and worth a lot more then Slim.
2. I'm not buying that the Slim is better it's only smaller.(I've tried both.)
3. The hardrive is not an improvement it's only a better, you can exchange the harddrive on PS3 fat too.
4. BUT if you want a smaller and a cheaper version of the PS3 buy slim they're practicly the same.

I recomend PS3 FAT.

Interesting view. :)

I would recommend the original fat PS3, not the late fat one. The original was backwards compatible, letting you play PS and PS2 games. THAT one is an icon, I'm not sure if the late fat PS3 Valentine talks about is that much of an icon. But the only way to buy an original PS3 is the second hand market.

You're refering to the PS3 60GB. That one is backward compatible but they all look the same 40GB 60GB 80GB only that the 60GB is out of stock forever as you said secondhand market if you want that one, I have the 40 GB but I soon exchange harddrive to 250GB or perhaps a 500GB.

The fat one looks posh, nice finish. Can't say the same about Slim.

You're right but the bad thing about it is it attract dust easier. But otherwise it's magnificent.

I would definitely recommend the original 'fat' PS3, 60GB if possible. Because, you want to know how Sony made them cheaper? By ripping out all non-necessities (e.g backwards compatibility,) so what you're really buying is a hallowed out console that will only do the bare minimum.

If you want the full experience out of your console, or more 'bang for your buck,' so to speak, go with an older model.

Couldn't have said it any better. Hollow-Words I want you to take note of what have been said here! First try to get hold of 60GB

It has card readers Which is great. + 4 USB instead of 2 but which doesn't matter so much.

I recomend buying this from a store, you won't find a new one but a preowned one however as I said buy it from a store so that you'll get a warranty.

They ripped out the PS2-chips in the fat PS3 also, only the earliest fat PS3's are compatible with PS2. Later fat PS3's did not have PS2-chips, that was the reason for the early huge price drop.
Didn't they come with 80 GB too?

I don't know how they made the Slim version consume 30% less power. But that has nothing to do with lacking PS2-compatibility, because that was already missing in the late fat PS3's. It's a long time since they stopped producing PS2-compatible PS3's.
