Well i was pointing out that the pretty much standard consoles of last gen - xbox 360/ps3 are still ahead of the New 2012 Wii U in some technical details.. And graphics , not that i mentioned graphics, but they are behind with them on Wii U. And in many ways the gameplay, how the game plays and how much fun it is comes down to the capacity , memory, graphics card, cpu and operating system--which isnt just for aesthetics but functionality like frames per second or amount of enemies rendered at once,,which will effect the game not just the graphics. The Wii U is hard to develop for and not only lacking in graphics but the fact that its behind last gen in some ways, it should be stronger and higher spec in every area, up to date with pc software.
Back in the day the dreamcast was the most powerful console out , and had very advanced graphics in Shenmue and tony hawks ran in like 60 fps so i dont see that point.
Graphics are a good reflection of the consoles power to be honest, i rate games that have poorer graphics but the consoles need decent power and graphics capability these days in my opinion, Even re6 doesnt have as good texture graphics as Re5 but they put the power into other functions like larger areas, smoother faster movement and more melee actions.Yeah graphics arent everythign the point is nintendo release a console 7 years after the out of date xbox and it comes out looking worse in some technical specifications-not only graphics but the hard ware is behind which will mean ..smaller levels, and less enemies, probaly reduced specs on multiplat games.,just like cod looked crap on the old Wii. it costs over £300 and probaly cant even match a similarily priced PC for that price, for gaming, which is unforgiveable from Nintendo...
Personally in todays age Ive been gaming since Master System and I like to play a game that looks decent but most important to me is the handling, and the aiming if its a shooter..That new Aliens Colonial Marines not only looks like **** in the graphics but handles horribly in the gun aiming and as a result i do not play it. My favourite game series is gears of war down to the way you have SO much control over the character,. the movement is tighter, faster and smoother than anything else ive ever played. The graphics are also awesome which helps with a gory, horror action game. Graphics help that kind of game. Something like an RPG or adventure graphics less important.
Honestly a brand new console has less specs than a 7yr old console and is way more expensive..With no decent games bar one Zombi U, i find no sympathy for Wii U or Nintendo on that matter.
I also forgot to add..you said the controller is a matter of opinion, and your right. But if you play games for say 2 or 3 hours, or maybe 6 or 7 hours in a long wkend session...I guarantee that controller is gunna hurt your hands. Its big, its square, its definetly not ergonomic. And the whole second screen thing is a bad idea. I already have to roll smokes between games, check my laptop and smart phone occasionally, i dont need more crap to look at while trying to play
