Childhood Memories

Jay

K.I.N.G.
For this topic discuss some of your favorite childhood memories you have. A favorite television show you use to watch that doesn't air anymore, places you use to love visiting, or a funny habit that you may have had. Anything at all.

Because I'm so freaking old now, I have a crapton of memories...most of which fail to come to mind right now but one that I always remember is the place we used to holiday at. It's a tiny village in North Yorkshire called Horsehouse and it consists of one pub, one shop, one farm, a church and maybe 12 cottages. Nowhere near civilisation, it was heaven for two kids with bikes and permission to go wherever the hell we wanted so long as we came back in time for dinner. We actually almost moved there but the winters get so bad, there would be no available schooling during November-February as the nearest school was over 16 miles away and accessible by bus...so long as you caught the bus in the nearest town which was 8 miles away.

We were totally fine with no school but my parents thought otherwise. Sad face...

LOL^ That just made me think of something funny. I was under the belief that prior to the 1960's, everything was in black and white as displayed on television. :P

When I was a baby, in the first house I lived in, my grandma (father's side) got me a little tree to put in our front yard. It was thin, didn't have that many branches, and only had a few sprouts of leaves. It was like a taller version of Charlie Brown's Christmas tree.
We moved out a few years later when my second sister was born.

I come back to that house around two years ago, as a teenager. The tree was thicker, grew allot of branches, and had a ton of leaves.

And the grandma that got me that tree passed away earlier this year...

I'm only in my late teens, and I already feel old.

I thought for the longest time - probably into highschool - that 'natural gas' was produced by farting. I was always so confused when teachers said it could be used as an energy source.
I used to think teachers lived inside the school.
Great replies lol.

Wait till you hit your twenties. Then it'll sink in more lol.

I lived out in the country...Moved there when I was 6...I met a guy named Patrick, and he was 7...We played together, practically LIVED together for the next seven years...We played outside, pretending we Star Wars characters, or characters from a story we made up when in the 4th grade called Animal Warriors...We played Sonic Adventure together, and watched Poke'mon on Cartoon Network back when it was still good lol...It's been eleven years now...Nearly twelve...And we're still inseparable...In fact, it's 1:52 a.m. here, and he's asleep right next to me on the couch as I type this...I know BFF sounds cliche, but...We truly are...Twelve years, and whether it's something new or we're just reliving our childhood through talking about the good ol days...I know I'll always have him...

EDIT: I started tearing up as I typed this...

I remember Summer Holidays from Highschool lasting forever....7 weeks of sheer bliss.....now as i often sit at the traffic lights, i can see the highschoolers roll in and out, and its then i realize i walk a different dimention to them these days. I hope they enjoy their summer this year as it's going to be a scorcher!

Every bit of that is true...The last part especially...

You know, everyone always talks about how the Holidays are such a magical time...But...For me, the summer is when the true beauty of the world and ALL it's magic burn at it's brightest...

Lying down on the grass, watching Shinzo and oh god...When I asked my dad where babies come from and he shoved in a Dumbo video showing me a stork delivered me to my house. Me and my best friend were sitting on a tree and debating about it because she told me her mother told her babies come from when you pushed your belly button and you get a baby...She even had "proof" and showed me numerous pictures of her mother going into labour when we were both 7...

This is why I never go into debates anymore... xD

That must've been scary as hell. I know that'll forever be in your memory lol.

Like I said. I never go into debates political or anything like that anymore cos I'm scared I'm gonna unleash something horrible xD.

My fav memories were actually playing outside with friends, in the dirt, sports, walking around to the arcades movies and libraries. It's funny how much things change when you get a car. Also the first time me and my cousins found my uncle's porno stash, that was fun :)
