Debt? Pff. If the great Lloyd Christmas has taught us anything, it's that debts can be settled amicably with IOUs:Honestly, I doubt anyone is going to buy Capcom. Buy Capcom, buy their $33,900,000 debt too.
I think it'll still be a pretty incredible shock though. I mean..Capcom has been one of the biggest names in gaming for SO many years. It's still going to be a shock to think that Capcom won't be Capcom anymore...Companies may buy each other out all the time, but sometimes it's still a shock depending on what the parent company DOES with the one it just acquired...IDK where you are located, but here in my state of Missouri, there used to be Git N Go gas stations EVERYWHERE. And not a SINGLE Kum and Go...Then, when Kum and Go bought them out, it was simply crazy to see a town of more than 15 Git in Gos have them all gone almost over night. If Capcom gets shut down and the IPs get spread out to new owners, good or bad owners, it's going to be one hell of a historic day for gaming. A company as iconic as Capcom biting the dust will make a lot of investors nervous about investing in gaming since one of the biggest names in the industry crashed and burned and will be a bigger step to the next big crash of the industry.
In that case, I hope they shut down too, gaming in general needs a Mighty Boot to the nads to get back on track.
But if someone buys Capcom it'll just be an interesting day, but nothing really shocking since other companies buy other companies all the time.
You're right by saying that Nintendo sticks to their roots, but I still just don't see them making a successful horror game.Well, a lot of people are unhappy with how Capcom has been doing things lately. Action oriented RE games. Reboot of DMC when the series didn't need it. Ignoring IP's that could have significance in the modern day like Megman and Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I think Nintendo taking over could fix a LOT of that because Nintendo has always stuck to their roots. They still put out Side Scrolling Mario games. They still stay true to their Zelda games. Pokemon hasn't changed much, and they're even listening to the fans and remaking older games with modern updates. So it's safe to say Nintendo stick to the classics. Well, in the case of most Capcom games, the Classics are what people WANT, and Capcom doesn't listen to that. Nintendo, on the other hand, would probably take that into account above all else when making the new installment into the legendary IP's.
Maybe not first party Nintendo, but if Capcom becomes a second party to Nintendo, they could still put it off. Although, this is assuming they'll both have their priorities straight. You're right by saying that Nintendo sticks to their roots, but I still just don't see them making a successful horror game.
But what have you seen that makes you think that...I mean...Nintendo has done horror games with Third Parties, Capcom included VERY frequently. And just because the name is Nintendo, doesn't mean it won't be the same people who worked for Capcom working on the game. Just because a company takes over, doesn't mean that all the employees get fired. Quite the contrary. MOST of the time the employees will transfer over. So you'll have the same people who have always worked on RE still working on RE. Only now, Nintendo will have final say. And knowing them, they won't let this current gaming style go on. They'd opt to have the Capcom crew still make the game, but make it like Classic RE. That's what seems the most logical to me at least...You're right by saying that Nintendo sticks to their roots, but I still just don't see them making a successful horror game.
Let's pool our cash, let's...
...BUY CAPCOM.
I can contribute $15 to the pot. We got any billionaire readers roaming about?
But there really isn't a huge difference in games made by a third party that are Nintendo exclusives, and games made directly by Nintendo themselves. It's all about image. Look at the WiiU. Call of Duty Ghosts and Batman Arkham City with BOTH on that system, and those are not your typical family games that Nintendo allows on their systems. Take a look at the Wii. It has FIVE different Resident Evil games, Manhunt, and Obscure: The Aftermath. NONE of those are even CLOSE to family games. And Gamecube even had a Metal Gear Solid game, as well as the Resident Evil games...The SNES had the Mortal Kombat games...So with Image being the most important thing, it's not hard to think Nintendo could do it. And if Gameplay is what you're concerned about, I've NEVER played a Mainstream Nintendo game with bad gameplay. Metroid, Zelda, and Smash Bros all play next to FLAWLESSLY. Mario does too, but how do you really screw up a 2D platformer, so I didn't even INCLUDE that one.But we're not talking about third parties with this. Nintendo will be running everything, and I just don't see it happening. If Konami takes over, they are extremely well-rounded, and I think they would do the best job. But just you guys know, while I do not want Nintendo to take over, they would do a better job than Capcom is now.
...Would RE be the ONLY reason though? Capcom has SEVERAL great IP's. Street Fighter. Devil May Cry. RE. MegaMan. Ghouls N. Ghosts. Final Fight. Dragon's Dogma recently was fantastic as well. Now, they'd have some cool new characters for...Marvel vs. Capcom? Or would it be Marvel vs. Captendo? NinCom? IDK, but it would be a refreshing new experience to get Link to fight Deadpool alongside Ryu and Iron Man...And again, Nintendo CAN get scary...In fact, there were parts of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes that scared me more than RE5 and RE6...Not that that was a HORROR game, but Dark Caves with aliens trying to eat you and complete silence is chilling. I think you just underestimate them because of their over all image...The gameplay I'm not worried about, I just don't think it will be that scary, which is main concern. That, and RE games would be all I use the Nintendo for, which is A HUGE waste of money on my part.If it went for all three consoles, I would care a lot less if Nintendo bought it.
Capcom may have debt, but they have money and other assets also. Any buyer wouldn't just get the debt. Around nine months ago we had a debate here about Capcom only having x millions in the bank, not enough to develop a new game. At that point debt was not a big issue. But for all I know they may have burned off all those millions (not literally) since then, though I doubt it.Personally, I want Nintendo to buy Capcom and the IPs, unfortunately whoever buys Capcom will also gain their debt, so I don't know if Nintendo could handle that
I'm almost certain that the $15 is enough to secure you the position as sole owner of Capcom. But if you want to share the glory, you should be able to find 14 others here who would contribute with $1 each. Count me in.Let's pool our cash, let's...
...BUY CAPCOM.

The last one is what I want the MOST. Capcom to STAY Capcom.I'm not onboard with the entirety of Capcom's series being sold to just one company.
I like the idea of say their assests be divided and sold to the highest bidder like say,
Street Fighter and Megaman going to Nintendo.
Resident Evil and Dead Rising going to Konami
Devil May Cry going to Squire Enix
But this is just the best case scenerio for me IF they where to sale, I would be more happy with them getting their s*&t together and somehow and stay afloat.
Yes, yes and f**k no.Street Fighter and Megaman going to Nintendo.
Resident Evil and Dead Rising going to Konami
Devil May Cry going to Squire Enix
