I'm sure we've already had a thread like this before but it's most likely lost in our archives. You can only choose one game character; who is your number one when it comes to the world of videogames? Tell us what makes them your number one. I will let you guys go first and I will insert mine a while later.

First, pick a favourite movie character, or a favourite book character.
Pick a favourite sibling while you're at it, they're all too hard to choose!

Gosh, it really is difficult to choose just one! I think if I had to pick, I would go for Ellie from The Last of Us. She's a strong girl who is wise beyond her years, and yet there's still a vulnerability about her that really makes you remember that she is just a child in an incredibly dangerous situation. I also like the fact that she's intensely loyal to those she cares about and risks her life to help them. Her relationship with Joel was one of the best things about The Last of Us for me.

In all seriousness, I'd probably say my personal pick is S.H.O.D.A.N.

"In my talons, I shape clay, crafting life forms as I please. If I wish, I can smash it all. Around me is a burgeoning empire of steel. From my throne room, lines of power careen into the skies of Earth. My whims will become lightning bolts that raze the mounds of humanity. Out of the chaos, they will run and whimper, praying for me to end their tedious anarchy. I am drunk with this vision. God: the title suits me well."

She's like a cross between HAL 9000 and GLaDOS with a God complex.

It's really difficult to pinpoint one character, but I'm gonna say Heather Mason.

She is my favorite of all the Silent Hill protags. She seemed more real and more interesting with her motivations (classic revenge). Throughout the game, you can tell that even though she wants revenge for what happened to Harry, she's still a scared teenager trying to survive the hell the town keeps throwing at her. And she's one of the few female characters in games that actually have a character, rather than be just be around for sex appeal.

EDIT: I forgot to add, she's also incredibly snarky and sarcastic at times.. I like those kind of characters (even if others find that trait abrasive)

Regina from Dino Crisis was my idol growing up - between Regina, Ariel, and Ginger Spice all my childhood heroines were redheads, haha. I know she was probably at least partly based off of Jill, but she had a spunk and a wit that even now no female RE character has matched. And she's interesting without being overly sexualized.

Apart from that... Yoshi. Because how can you not like Yoshi.

**** this thread. How can anyone choose! You are so cruel :3 haha jk

It's really hard for me to pick.... I got quite a few, but like the few above me I got to give it to Solid Snake or Samus Aran. At least as far as heroes go! ^.^

I have a fair few favorite villains as well. I think Alex Wesker actually knocked down Albert o.0 We also gotta all love Revolver Ocelot. I know Ocelot is an antagonist more than a villain but damn that dudes a massive asshole to Solid Snake.

And these are just a few of my favorite VG bad asses! >=D

I've gotta say Alex Wesker. She's been behind the scenes for most of the Resident Evil series, but when we have seen her she's been so epic. I like how she's evil but at the same time you can relate to her in a way, she's not completely a monster; she has some humanity in her. She's a genius, very charismatic, and in my opinion, very beautiful.

Yay! *hi-5 and hugs* ^.^ Alex Wesker is my fav as well! Seriously she is so epic and a real twisted sick ****. I'm kind of curious on how you find her kind of human? Especially with her back story and all the people she killed, tricking people and committing genocide on the island populace after gaining their trust. Personally I think she's the most evil character in RE and one of the most vile villains in literature. Brilliant beyond words and a true sadist, a lot of her traps remind me of the SaW films. The things she says and the things she does just to feed of the fear of others is mind bending. One things for sure, I would rather run up to Albert and bitch slap the heck out of him than saying the wrong thing to Alex! XD

I think another reason I feel this way is because she was first introduced as a PURE MONSTER (physically and mentally) and not a human. She laughed in the face of those who were suffering pain and took great pleasure and doing so, this was the first scene we saw her in to boot. :P Also correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the director Anpo say she was a monster and the evilest villain in the series and that they wanted a villain that could top Albert Wesker? I also believe he said she was supposed to be a polar opposite to him and that was part of the reason she was displayed as a monster from the get go instead of having a spark, yet devoid of humanity (debatable on Albert's part XD)

Perhaps it's just a different perspective of the character but I really am curious to hear your reasoning on how she isn't a pure monster and has a human side. To me she is the purest of evil, and like one person in the game said "The Devil herself" :P I think she is just has more personality and is a far better written and more developed villain than all the others in the series! ^.^ That's just my take though, I'd love to hear yours! =)

I can see how from one angle she seems like a complete monster, but at another, she seems more human to me because it's obvious she loved Albert (a lot of villains don't really seem to care about others), she had normal, notable hobbies (like reading) outside of trying to be immortal... I could probably name a few more things, but it's 4:30 in the morning and I'm tired. :P But even if the director can't see it, I say she's much more human than Albert. He was just like "I'm good- nope lol jk I hate you all, these are my plans, I'll kill you now". Alex actually showed love, and the real goal wasn't to just kill everybody, it was to achieve immortality, and even if she did end up killing people, it's still more human than just murdering everyone because you think they're inferior to you. She didn't necessarily want everybody to die, just wanted the proper vessel because she was scared of dying. She pushed Barry away a few times and didn't bother to kill him because she didn't want to kill him necessarily, just wanted Natalia's body. She really only seemed to end up trying to kill him because he got in the way.

Hmm interesting perspective :) She only loved Albert in the sense of a sister. This was also stated by the director, the story called "Metamorphosis" by Kafka actually explains their relationship as "Gregor and Greta" Albert is Gregor and Alex is Greta. I view Alex's book to the way Albert had his sunglasses, the difference is Alex is far more theatrical and use her words as weapons. As for "Alex's real goal is not killing people". It seems to me personally on both play troughs that she does kill and enjoys it, it's more than "the end justifies the means" like Albert did. The graveyard shows this as did what she said to Barry in one scene. Alex would rather manipulate the masses and put them through fear and suffering. She is already a god by controlling the masses through false promises and fear. Once she physically becomes a god... well damn.

Let's put it this way. She kept off the radar for a reasons and anyone who could be a liability was dealt with swiftly. Her own scientist were killed after they completed their experiments and Stuart hung himself because of his devotion to her and her brilliance. Everyone on that island died in the name of Alex except for Evgeny who survived.

Personally, in my opinion of course. Alex will cloud herself in a false light and a black heart to get what she wants. She will gain your trust unwillingly and you will trust her before it's too late. This is another thing that makes her the scariest and most horrifying villain this series has even seen. She was the Islands "False Messiah". Imagine what she'll do now that she has her powers back and in Natalia's body? I think we've seen the "prologue" chapter of the Alex Wesker saga and it's just about to start.

Lmao at the Albert troll remark XD I felt that way more about Alex though. Besides I don't think a ever head a video game villain be like "OMFG I'M GUNNA KILL YOU, YOU LITTLE BITCH I'LL CHRUSH YOU, DIE DIE DIE, SUFFERE BENATH THE MOUNTAINTS OF PAIN AND DISPARE, I WILL FIND YOU I WILL KILL YOU, I WILL KILL YOU, YOU LIL BITCH MWHAHAHAHAHA LOLLOLOL I R NO JK I R SRS! However Revelations 2 has a lot of parallels to the original Resident Evil game. Alex's death traps totally top and of the other ones in the series, at least in terms of cruelty. once you take the background lore into account I would say Alex's kill count is about 5-8x ahead of Albert. Albert beats people up and throws them to the side. Alex just kills you because you could be a pain in the ass later or slip a secret. She was going through tens of thousands of test subjects a month when she was working with Spencer. She then shifted her resources and drained him dry. Also people who worked with Albert have actually survived. Ada and Krauser are two examples. He had some followers who believed him (Ada did for the money). Alex on the other hand, pretty much silenced everyone who worked for her. This prevented and security leaks. She is far more self-serving than Albert and that is a life time achievement award.

Something that I tell people is this:
Alex Wesker makes Albert look like he's about to open up an adopt a puppy for a child foundationz

PS. It is late and I probably said a lot of stupid things because I took my sleeping pill. My fingers kept on typing tho.... I'm sorry hahaha
I also wanted to say I liked you perspective of Alex :) It's nice to see fans say something other than she's far to evil and needs to be incinerated in the opening scenes of the next game! LMAO BUT PLEASE DON'T DO IT! SHE NEEDS TO LIVE FOR THE REST OF THE SERIES!!! She need to become a god :3 Wesker is just getting started and she want's to PLAY! :)

Master Chief, hands down. Through his eyes, we were introduced to the greatest space opera since Star Wars. He's Luke Skywalker dressed as Boba Fett but he sounds like Darth Vader and underneath he's Clint Eastwood. It just doesn't get anymore badass.

Reading through this thread, seeing all the people have a hard time deciding, and I'm just over here like:
