Alternate genres RE can be turned to...

Well apart from Resident Evil, another series of video games I really like is the Suikoden series of RPGs by Konami. Those games have non-linear narratives so that at times, if you make a certain decision, then it can have drastic results on the storyline later on (such as a major character dying, or totally different cut scenes occuring) and some of the games actually let you load data from the prequal so that parts of the continuing story will differ accoring to what decisions you made in your last game.

Now I know the Resident Evil games USED TO let you control events depending on what decisions you made, or if you acted fast enough, but now they seem to have totally abandoned that and just given us these linear games. Therefore, I hope that with future games, Capcom let us have more control on the over all storyline, and hopefully allow us to carry over data onto other games so that we can explore even more possiblities (which is why I mentioned the influence of Suikoden in the first place).

Back to the topic at hand - lets say they do make a non-bio-warfare game featuring characters and locations and other ideas from the original RE games. Imagine they give us a character whose career path you can choose yourself - he/she can become a combatant unit who goes on dangerous missions to confront criminals and rescue hostages, or he/she can become a medical expert who specialises in healing and assisting injured people in field situations. You complete the game as a fully qualified expert who has succeeded a series of tough situations. Then the sequel comes out in which a virus has escaped, and you use all of your old knowledge and skills to survive and overcome the outbreak.
