Well when I first heard about it I was excited.. However apperently its a character from ORC. At this point the only reason I feel that they would give such a minor character in a non cannon a homosexual preference would be for controversy, attention, and to get people talking about ORC. Thats just My opinion. On a side note if Piers ended up being homosexual that would have been really intriguing and somewhat unexpected given the way homosexuals are usually portrayed by the media......... I will put in a link to the whole gay RE ORC character thing.

That is neat and all about the guy from ORC. But I can and will assure you that Piers is NOT gay at all. He used to be a character with a huge sense of humor and very playful. He became very battle hardened during the events of The Marhawa Desire. He was in love with a stubborn woman named Merah Biji and she sacrificed herself to save Pier's life. After the mission she promised him the date that he wanted for all the years he liked her since they first met. Where Pier's was the best sniper in the B.S.A.A American Branch. She was the best agent in the East Asian branch.

Pier's is a very deep character who Chris saw as his successor the moment he took him under his wing not long after the events of RE5. They are VERY close with each other and Pier's saw Chris as a father, a brother, a mentor, and a friend. After the death of Merah, Piers shut himself out and became distant to everyone except Chris. He lost himself and became a very determined soldier, perhaps even more so than Chris. Chris also often commented that Piers is more skilled than himself and has more potential than him. Piers believed that Chris was the best dispite this. Piers always puts others before himself and is as selfless as they get. He also believed he should have died instead of Merah. This is something that effected him emotionally and he blames himself for it. In many ways his sacrifice allowed him to be with her again. On the flip side he was to be Chris's successor and I have a feeling that Capcom intended Chris to die instead of him but lost the balls to go through with it. His character was developed perfectly for such a scenario.

Suggesting Piers is gay is probably one of the dumbest assumptions in the whole series considering the man he became in RE6 is literally a result of Merah's death. The woman he loved. Chris on the other hand has never shown a sexual interest in woman in the whole series. He's either asexual or gay. I would say he is gay because, despite being alternative costumes. He always gets a costume that is considered gay and in Revelations Capcom gave him the gay sailor outfit. A man wearing a sailor outfit in Japan is the equivalent of a guy at a gay pride parade wearing pink and rainbows.

Lol dam. I feel stupid for not knowing about piers Being in love with a woman. Lol If I knew the information then that I knew now I wouldnt have pondered about piers. But My main point was I wonder if anyone really cares about a character in ORC being gay..... lol.. Actually I have read that before. I geuss I overlooked that. Or I just missed it when I was skimming through some of the boring parts

Well I haven't played ORC and don't really care too. I also never heard of this character before and I do a lot of reading regarding the lore of this series. This is the first time I've heard of him or seen him....

As for Piers. Read the Marhawa Desire. The main premise of the story seems REALLY DUMB. I was even turned off. In truth it's a great read and had a good story.

I don't think Slant Team Six put a gay character in the game to necessarily stir up media attention and controversy as you implied in your beginning post... it could easily have been done as an homage to the repeal of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy a year prior to the game's release. Judging by what was written in the article, this was likely to be the case.

It's not a huge deal to make Dee-Ay gay - I mean, to be honest, he's a fairly irrelevant character who is not even featured in ORC's 'main' campaign. But setting that aside, RE is laden very heavily with militaristic themes, so it is nice for the game developers to acknowledge in some small way that LGBT men and women did serve their country, but could not do so openly until 2011.

I read somewhere before that this guy was gay. Honestly, I couldn't care less. I'm big Bioware fan and they're quite known for having LGBT characters as well as same-sex romances. Heck, even Commander Shepard could be gay xD But as long as the characters don't act like stereotypes I'm fine with it.

Woah, Slow down here....Chris is many things (like overrated and overrused) but being gay is not one of them. You see, I used to be a big fan of him and I know a lot about him.

When the first game was released, a book named Biohazard: The Beginning was published alont with it and Chris was hitting on Jill like hell in said book xD Also, in one of the endings in RE1 Chris and Jill were holding hands in fact. Other than that the Producer of RE5 Jun Takeuchi pretty much admitted that Chris has some feelings for Jill he just doesn't say it. That was also my impression as well. He suffered a lot in RE5 because of Jill's death and he was even willing to sacrifice millions of people for her. You can show affection towards someone in many different ways.

Then again, I think Capcom considers Revelations 1 to be more canon than RE5, unfortunately. -_-'

This why I was p*ssed when nothing was said about her RE6. The game completely diminished her importance to Chris as well as to the series and instead of developing their relationship, they just dumped her like some old trash, hence my negative attitude towards Capcom. See the Problem isn't Chris and Jill, but Capcom for changing their relationship like four times and being incosistent as hell.

As or that Sailor Outfit, yeah it's kinda true what you say it's a japanese gay stereotype, but another one is hypermasculinity like being muscular like Chris. Ever since they changed his body-type, I swear, a lot of people seem to think he's gay (lol) which is shown via ridiculous skimpy outfits for him. (Plus the amount of yaoi-fangirls and gay fans added more to that) But he's supposedly a westerner, we don't associate being muscular with homosexuality, but Japan does (Although, Chris kinda acts more like a Japanese instead of a westerner xD). The other way around we consider effeminate, androgynous males (most JRPG protagonists) to be super gay , but in Japan it's a beauty ideal since ancient Japan (Heian-Period to be exact).

Then again it's Capcom we're talking about. Have you seen that unlockable Leather-Outfit for the guy in Dead Rising? That said , the Sailor outfit doesn't really reflect his personality at all. It's just fanservice and japan is fond of over-sexualizing it's characters, be it male or female (Though, in the era of SJW tumblersim it rubs people off the wrong way xD) You're eading too much into that Outfit ;)

No offence to you or anything, but man, I profoundly despise the term 'SJW'.

Anyway, aren't Japanese students, both boys and girls, required to wear western-style sailor uniforms as part of the Ministry of Education's dress code policy?

You know what wouldn't be unexpected? If Wesker turned out to be gay/bisexual.

It's definitely a term that's way overused on the internet. 'SJW Tumblrism' is really just a dumb sounding way of saying political correctness or bigotry.

I guess any RE character could be gay when it comes to fanfiction... lol.. And dont even get me started on the mpreg stuff I have read before............. But that is why it is fanfiction.....

Well based on some of the logic in this thread, since a character's wardrobe hints towards their sexuality lets take a look at Wesker's getup in RE5... Tight, shiny leather. Wanna know the last person to wear an outfit like that? Catwoman.
Catwoman also had the hots for the HERO. That can only mean one thing: Wesker is Catwoman.

Look at those cat eyes, he's not fooling me.

Well I'd say that all the characters in the RE universe seem more "western" than "eastern" but that's just me. Even Ada is of American/Asian decent. Something that I find rather odd.

As for RE5. I never saw anything from Chris other than deep friendship. He only spoke of her as a partner and a close friend. Almost in a way you would view the loss of a sibling. It is definitely a form of love. There is no doubt about that. I just don't how ever see the romance there. The chemistry of feelings hidden deep down like Leon and Ada or Jake and Sherry don't seem present. I was disappointed as well that Jill wasn't mentioned in RE6 and Jill was my first love in RE. She will always be my favorite main protagonist of the original cast. She could have a deeper character development and RE5 really hurt her character. Making her seem weak willed after coming back to her self. She didn't seem like the same woman she was in 1, 3, and Rev. That could just be me personally. Capcom needs to do her justice and it's going to take A LOT of work for them to pull it off right. People say she sucked in Rev and I could NOT disagree any more at that statement. Her appearance may have been different but I was assured time and time again playing that game that she is Jill. That's my girl xD

I didn't know that Neo and Blade looked gay..... I am almost with 100% certainty that Frank Castle does not look nor would tolerate you calling him gay. He would definitely punish you for that xD

But uhhh as for Albert being gay. You see.... he likes to dominate Chris in any way he can. Rape is known to be a form of dominating and humiliating your victims. We can end the conversation like that and your imagination can do the rest.

All of their outfits weren't head to toe tight, shiny leather though. But uhh if Thomas Jane has anything to do with it then I fully welcome his punishment.

As for Wesker's sexuality and feelings of dominating Chris, I've been singing that tune for a while now. ;)

I think Capcom should make a good, original homosexual character, rather than just decide that a preexisting character is gay.

That's one thing I actually enjoy about Capcom: Ambiguity with every character. I don't think they'll have an openly gay/bi/trans character because they want the fans to leave all of that up to interpretation. Besides, this is a series about slaying zombies and fighting bioterrorism. Ain't nobody got time for bumpin uglies! ( cept Leon apparently... even still he could bat for both teams. You never know. )

To be honest, I think it has more to do with Capcom taking their target audience into consideration, more so than wanting to leave the sexuality of their characters up for interpretation. Even though a lot of women play video games, the driving force behind this kind of genre is young (14-35ish), heterosexual men. Keep in mind that I'm very much generalizing, thus there's going to be a lot of outliers, but this group is not typically known to be the most progressive in terms of social issues. Making a lead character like Chris or Wesker gay would be a risk that I don't think Capcom has been willing to make - and I think that's more the reason behind the ambiguity than anything else. It all comes down to the $$$.
