I've already graduated at uni for poli sci and labour studies, but I kinda decided to go back to college for journalism.. was wondering how you're liking your program and how the market is in terms of jobs aha
It depends on the uni and their department, really. You can go to a more traditional program that teaches old newspaper journalism or one that's more progressive and broadcast/internet oriented. Some classes are fun, others aren't. The universities that have the most success with alumnis getting jobs can be progressive or old-fashioned. Research for the uni you have in mind.
I'm actually already in school for it... it's a fast tracked program so it's not very long, but I'm just kind of debating with myself whether or not it is worth continuuing. I like the classes for the most part, but I'm debating with whether or not just to do straight PR instead.
Honestly, there are far more jobs in PR. To be successful in PR, you need to know journalism back to front. For that reason, a lot of the most successful people in PR are former journalists. You need to learn a lot of the same things to do either.
