Resident Evil 8

If series gets eight installment do you think the old cast will return aswell?
How do you like Resident Evil 7 storyline and characters?
Would you like for Capcom to establish new cast or the old one to return in upcoming?

As for me, if eight happens I would really love to see old cast back :(
I haven't enjoyed seventh to the fullest, because I was playing as a random faceless guy and bunch of unknow characters like Zoe and Mia, and all the rest...during the gameplay I havent felt anything for any of them to actually make me care for the characters, they felt so boring, bland and not developed, but anyways they only appeared in 7th game for the first time. so I guess the only excuse is they didn't have enough time to actually develop unless they plan to use Ethan in the upcoming games, still nothing could make me care for that character

Let me conclude, I would love to see old cast back because that's what made Resident Evil famous, because of character development because of Chris, Jill, Leon, Claire...Ada and the rest
I can't imagine Resident Evil continue now going the path of Resident Evil 7 adding bunch of new characters and first person :(

Hope you understand my English hehe

In Resident Evil 8 I want every character to die in the end and be replaced with young fresh characters in their early 20's.

That would be a very effective way for Capcom to flat out p*ss off all the longtime Resident Evil fans who have invested so many years into their favorite characters in the series..............so doubt that would happen but to each their own.

Well I mean look at Bruce mcgivern, ark thompson, billy coen, Carlos Olivera, etc. All decent characters (in my opinion) who had main and supporive roles through different titles that were never used again. Capcom could do an entire series just centered around their forgotten characters alone so whose to say. Personally I'd like to see chris, jill, and Leon retire from it. No gruesome deaths or anything but I do feel it is time to either kill the series or give it a new cast. We've got plenty of remakes to keep the originals valid, just for the love of god give us re3 remake please lol.

I´m pretty sure a lot of people want 3 remade as well. Original Nemesis is already on its own a more than a worthy contender to be the best in the series. Also, Capcom introduced pretty cool characters like Parker and Piers and they killed them in the most miserable and comical ways, is not like they care much to introduce new long term characters anyway and the ones they had where completely forgotten.

I completely agree. Resident evil 3 is my personal favorite and it has sucked to watch it get **** on ever year while every other game has gotten either a remake or an update in graphics. Or both. If they don't remake 3 they will be missing a huge market. I also didn't include piers or parker for the same reason I didn't include steve or mikhael. which is that they're dead. Not that I disagree about their deaths being useless or comical but because we can't even get the living ones included so I have no hope for a revision to bring any of them back lol

Yeah there have been people who critisized 3 for having too much action compared to 1 and 2 but it wasn´t really anything to be taken seriously, RE3 is still a horror game from head to toe. Is exactly like when some people said Aliens was an action movie and Alien was horror...Excuse me, NO. Aliens is still a horror movie regardless of it´s action content. There´s like 20 minutes worth of action at most in Aliens for F sake.

When you compare 1, 2 and 3, Nemesis is the better ¨game¨. Now 1 and 2 have special ¨things¨ or content that 3 doesn´t, otherwise 3 would be King of the hill.

Parker isn't dead.

Why the hell would anyone want them to continue on with new characters when they can’t even properly develope and progress the series with the characters they’ve already established? Just gonna be more loose ends and burnouts. They should be thinking about bringing closure to the past characters before even thinking about rebooting the series and featuring all brand new characters in the next installment(s). And who cares about the age of the character? Look at Joel from The Last of Us (and even Barry in Revelations 2). A bunch of 20 year olds running around sounds dumb.

I’d like for them to actually follow up on Alex Wesker, seeing as she is one of their best developed villains/characters. They should bring Jake back as well considering there is still plenty of directions they can take his character because of Alex and Chris. Then of course there’s Jill who deserves her vengeance against a Wesker.

If Capcom has been lacking something for a while, it´s storytelling. Kenichi Iwao is no longer at Capcom if i´m not mistaken and Noboru Sugimura died in 2005. Those two where responsible for the whole Mansion incident and Raccoon city outbreak stories. The fact that Mikami had to go and write the story for RE4 when he wasn´t even a writer and the game turned out very well was mindblowing. But yeah, RE stories and characters are generally getting worse and worse. I think RE7 had a nice story tho, the only thing i find bad is the whole Chris Redfield stuff...soooo unnecesary.

It's no secret that Capcom is bad with storytelling, that being said, there has always been some level of cheesiness within the series story that still makes it enjoyable and loveable. Keeping that in mind- it may be unfair for me to compare their writing to that of Naughty Dog's but I don't think fans are asking for much when they want fluent character development and storytelling. It should be one of their main goals when they are looking to carry on a series.
I thought they were getting better with it after I played through REvelations 2 but then the direction that they took with RE7 makes me think otherwise now.

I did enjoy RE7 up until dealing with Lucas- that's when the game went downhill. The only characters that were remotely interesting in that game were the villains and Zoey. Ethan and his wife were bland. Chris may have been out of left field but the upcoming DLC featuring him is the only thing making me want to play through RE7 again. His name/character being thrown into the game (as well as this "Blue Umbrella") is one of very few things that ties it into the main series storyline.

True that, the Lucas section was just...weird?. It did put me off. I think it would have been more appropiate for that part to be included in the DLC´s instead of the main game, it just didn´t fit well with what was going on and the pace of the game was compromised because of that, me thinks.

The thing with the early REsis is that developers where dragging cool concepts and monsters from horror movies and blended it with their own ideas and became a thing of its own. They where REALLY good at that, that´s one of the major reasons the franchise was successful. In fact, i would have preferred for them to be done with all the story and characters after RE3 or CV, and start a new trilogy that had nothing to do with the first, and explore different kinds of horror for it. RE4 was kinda doing this but of course it had Leon and all the Wesker and Umbrella back story behind it, so in a way, this series was meant to get tiresome character wise. I love Chris and the rest of the cast but at this point i don´t think they should use them as much and if they do it should be in an intelligent way at least. Why not Hunk or Nicholai instead of Chris again

•My bad about parker, didn't remember.
•Didn't care for alex, felt like a cheap throw away villain to me.
•Totally forgot about jake but him and sherry in a new game would be good. Or even jake solo looking to dive into his past.
•Wesker needs to stay dead.

Basically a resident evil 3 remake and then shut the series down because we all know that there's just too many loose ends and not enough time and money to chase them all.

To many people overlook the Alex Wesker thing and the sheer potential for a new series villain in her, I hate that Capcom completely ignored her in RE7 which takes place after RErevelations 2 (she should be a sixteen year old super powered teenager by then in her "rebirth body") so the fact that she is not alluded even though she is technically the only living walking Project W remnant still alive with both Albert and Spencer (THE two main antagonists of the series) both of which are now gone, the vacum is there and yet RE7 did NOTHING to try to fill it.

I´m pretty sure they will use her in the next REvelations or even RE8.

Of all the women that are villains in RE i think Dr Cameron was the best, even more so i think she was the sickest villain in the whole series and we never saw her again.

Actually, there's an argument to be made about featuring a villain from a spin-off game in a main series entry, I heard this one on the RE subreddit. A good chunk of the playerbase might not even be familiar with her backtory for this reason.

Not saying I agree with it (they could always explain it in flashback cutscenes for those who didn't play Rev2), but I get the argument.

Yeah it´s definitely possible that they might forget bout her in future installments just likes it has happened before but i think she´ll be back. For what game?, i don´t know. Alex Wesker and Natalia are pretty much the female equivalent of Ruvik and Leslie.

Also, the secret company that Ada was working for was involved in the creation of Eveline. How do I know it's the same rival company Ada was apart of? The HCF assisted in her/its development according to the R & D report. RE7 may not connect a WHOLE lot to the main series lore, but the few connections it does have are pretty major ones.

Speaking of which, it's been said that the Mold can revive the deceased according to the newspaper in the RE7 ending:

1458A187727E81259D0DA0C359B3A73AD9454C5E

So there's your explanation for Wesker coming back, no need to come up with any pseudo-scientific explanations for him somehow "surviving" those rockets, no need to go the cheap cloning/body-hopping route, just have a new group of lackeys (Jessica and Raymond would be perfect candidates for this) recover his corpse from the volcano and revive him with the Mold, and why not since he apparently helped create it? The Umbrella Corps. rumors of him being alive would make for perfect material for Ada's secret post-RE6 mission as well, especially since she betrayed him.

Good points. I wouldn’t be upset at all if they went this route. It would make for interesting storytelling to have both Weskers alive for the next installments and it really isn’t a bad idea like going with “hey RE5’s Wesker was just a clone” or going with some other new mad scientist villain for the next game. It’s actully the perfect setup and would make the seemingly complete change in direction of RE7 forgivable if they actually go this route with the story- or at least bring Ada into the next game so we can start piecing the events of RE7 all together with the rest of the series.

I haven’t played through Umbrella Corps. yet but doesn’t that game take place during different timeframes? Like during RE4 and even Code Veronica? So to say that he is alive because of that game doesn’t make sense to me because Wesker was involved in those games to some capacity.
