Nemesis vs. Ustanak

Everybody likes to compare Ustanak to Nemesis, but in a head-to-head fight, who would win? I asked my sibling this same question, and we debated it for hours. It's a pretty fun argument to think about, actually. With all things considered, who would be able to defeat the other? (lets assume they're both at optimal performance when they fight)

Also, just to stir your thought, here's a small list of their advantages/disadvantages:

Nemesis:
  • Tall and Physically Strong
  • Very Intelligent
  • Superb tracker
  • Great eyesight (augmented by Umbrella)
  • Utilizes Tentacles
  • Utilizes heavy weapons (mainly a Rocket Launcher)
  • Can be incapacitated, and requires a short period of recovery after
  • Has a final mutation (last resort)
Ustanak:
  • Very Large and Physically Strong
  • Extremely Intelligent
  • Very Fast
  • Virtually Indestructible
  • Superb Tracker
  • Poor eyesight (but other senses are above average)
  • Utilizes a variety of weapons as prosthetic arms
If there's any other traits I didn't say that you think should be added, feel free to mention it and I'll edit this post...

Ustanak struck me as Nemesis on steriods. :p Unless you give Nemesis an infinite rocket launcher, I don't think he'd stand a chance - considering Ustanak is virtually invulernable unless his heart is directly exposed. He took ALOT more abuse than Nemesis did.

And he's absurdly fast for such a fat ****er.

At first I too thought Ustanak would win, but for me, the deal-breaker is Nemesis' mutation, which is something that Ustanak doesn't have an equivalent to. Even if he beats Nemesis to within an inch of his life, if that final mutation gets triggered, it's all over... Hell, maybe Nemesis could eat him whole XD

Duh, silly me. I completely forgot about Nemesis' mutations. Especially the final one that took 2 shots with a laser cannon and six shots with a magnum to kill. Yeah, with that, Nemesis can best Ustanak.

I'd go with Ustanak still. If Nemesis mutated TOO far, into that big ugly blob thing, I reckon Ustanak would mess him up for sure. Ustanak just as good a tracker, just as persistent, they both run fairly quick after you.

I don't know if it's just because of how the games have changed, but how do you think Ustanak would've stood up in RE2 with that gameplay/weapons etc? Same as Nemesis in the newer games, I think Ustanak would be ALOT harder back then, and Nemesis would be a lot easier now, but maybe that's because I find the old games harder in general.

My winner: Ustanak.

I have never never fought against Nemesis myself, but i know a whole lot about him from RE history, culture, personal testimonials, and his movie adaptation form.

I recognize that my opinion based on this might be skewed, but from what i've seen, Nemesis relies too much on conventional weapons, which really don't even phase Ustanak. In the second RE movie, Nemesis is scary because he's using his mini gun and rocket launcher to take **** down with deadly efficiency. During RE6, the characters blast Ustanak with all kinds of heavy weapons and explosives, crush him with mining drill, topple an electric tower on him, and drop him in a pool of lava, only to have him come running back without even visible scars. Therefore, I don't think Nemesis has the capacity to seriously damage Ustanak.

On the contrary, Nemesis has also shown extreme levels of endurance. Certainly, he's not virtually indestructible like Ustanak is, but he still does have a powerful mutation to fall back on. Like I said earlier: for me, Nemesis' mutation is the deal-breaker. It took a lot more than heavy weapons to defeat that thing. In fact, it took state-of-the-art weaponry that you rarely see in the entire series (the closest equivalent I can think of is the satellite laser from RE5) in addition to the extra magnum rounds it took to finish him off. His extra mutations are the main traits that earn him my favor...

Also, small correction on Ustanak: you said he always came back without visible scars, but after being impaled by the drill, you can actually notice large scars in his abdominal area that were not there before

Sharp eye, I'll have to look for that now. ;)

Also, about Nemesis, the laser cannon and magnum probably didn't kill him. What if the only thing that killed Nemesis was the nuclear strike on the city?

I love Nemesis, he will always hold a special and nostalgic place in my heart, but I have to give this fight to Ustanak. The bio engineering companies are always striving to make the BOWs stronger and better, it has been about 14 years since Raccoon and even the common zombies are more deadly than the old ones back in the classic games.
