I've been thinking of new discussions for us, since I've been back. I can't remember if we already had a thread like this before, or not. If we did then it's lost in the depths lol.
Simple. Tell us who your favorite characters are. They can be from video games, tv shows, movies, books, etc. Tell us why they're your favorite. If you want, you can even include a picture of your favorites.
I'm going to wait and add my favorite characters later.
Literature wise, I have a fairly controversial choice. My favourite character is Dr Victor Frankenstein. Yes, he does indeed create the Monster (note: It is not, in anyway, shape or form referred to as Frankenstein in the novel and thus anyone that refers to it as such as dead to me...) that murders all those he holds dear and ultimately remains out in the wilderness of the novel's conclusion but I feel he is a significant protagonist. It is the first time in any 'Gothic' novel (I use the term lightly; it is more apt to call Frankenstein a science-fiction novel) that the lines between protagonist and villain have been blurred; whilst he commits no evil himself, critics have observed that the creation of the Monster is similar to the creation of the Novel: they are both monstrous for their criticisms of neo-classical literature and both threaten the very categorisation system known as the binary opposition. In the Monster's case, him being a "wretch" suggests both a misfortunate being and a despicable creature but again, he commits evil and he reflects his benevolence (helping the DeLaceys, for instance, and his depiction as a noble savage make us sympathetic towards him and not to the humans). Binary oppositions mean that a person can't be ugly and virtuous (the example used within the text); the Monster is certainly ugly but is certainly virtuous at times. Victor's significance lays in how he, as a work of fiction, is able to provoke such debate amongst the established forms of literature at the time, leading the movement of the novel forward.
Film wise, I change my favourite character like I change socks. One minute I'll see Han Solo as my all-time favourite, other times I'll see Chewie as my favourite. It also depends franchise-wise. I prefer Captain America over Iron Man, Darth Sideous (only the original films) over Luke Skywalker, Raoul Silva (Skyfall) over Bond and, obviously, Ripley over any other Alien character barring Paxton's marine.
Comics, it has to be Deadpool. No explanation needed.
With regard to anime, L from... L is my absolute favourite followed closely by Kira/Light and Erin (Attack on Titan).
