CT: My Neighbors are incredibly loud and their kid keeps yelling "THIS IS AMERICA, BABY!" all while fireworks are going off. I can't avoid this because I live in America and this is happening everywhere. Please help me before I turn into one of them T.T

CT: If an author ships two of their own characters that aren't really together, and writes a non-canon short story about it, does that count as a fanfic even though it's written by the author him-/her-/itself?

Probably not cause it's not written by a fan.

Yes it does. Because the author is the biggest fan of him/her/itself.

My thought is that it would immediately become an alternate universe/timeline. xD

You're probably right. It's so weird, though. You're the author, so if anyone could make this pairing real, it's you. But you just can't let it happen because reasons.

Ha! I'm more like my own worst enemy. It's my readers that praise my work while I myself spend most of my time constantly criticising everything and finding other works that did this or that better, and I've heard the same from other artists (except musicians apparently, the few that I know are really, really, really in love with themselves). So in what alternate universe is it that authors are their own biggest fans?

Well this confirms it. Breath of the Wild is freaking amazing. Apparently the TV's at E3 weren't calibrated which hindered the resolution and visuals. I noticed that something was off with the coloring. I just thought it was from the cams recording the game play footage.

Hell, for a while I was debating the thought of if they were using some low end NX dev kits to show this game off, but nope. It's 100% Wii U hardware. Then again some games look damn good. Pikmin 3 looked insane on my TV. The screen shots look half assed. There are tons of good looking games. It's a shame that devs, and even Nintendo at times. Don't take advantage of the hardware. There's some games that look better than some XBO and PS4 games lmao!

Except mosquitoes. **** mosquitoes.
Speaking of which, I have like, seven mosquito bites right now and I never saw one mosquito on me. I don't know how one got through my big hair to my scalp and got out alive. xD

Being a musician myself, I can agree that there are a lot of musicians that are extremely high on themselves. But I'm more like you, I'm pretty much my own worst enemy.

If one can be their worst enemy then one can surely be their biggest fan. Its kinda like light and darkness. They depend on each other to exist. You can't have one without having the other.

I think it's just a thing that authors do, honestly. Especially if the story you're telling is one part in a series. For one thing, writers are by nature curious people. From my own experiences both personal and conversational, I find we pick everything apart, not necessarily for critical purposes, but for greater understanding. I know I personally write alternate versions of plots and characters for various reasons, but more often than not, I find it helps me understand my characters better. When I put them in a situation in which their canon story would never find them, I find it always makes their canon appearances more solid and true to them.

It could be anything from a different relationship to a different dimension, just something different. Like, the stories I write are based more in a grounded reality, so I will write little asides featuring my characters that are filled with sci-fi or supernatural elements just to see what would happen to them or how they'd fare. Sometimes it influences the canon story in a profound way, but more often than not, it's just a test. At the end of the day, a writer is really a slave to their story, and if a relationship doesn't serve the narrative, it has to stay a 'what if?' in perpetuity. That's my two cents, anyway.

Good girl. Since when have you been a fan of the most badass alien species in the universe?

I've been a fan for a very long time. I was probably 5 years old when I snuck and watched it with my older brothers. Haha

I can't wait for them to get going with making another one.

Oh **** you beat me. LOL

Well guess what, none other than Shane Black ( who was Hawkins in the first movie btw) is making a new film right now, to come out in 2018, and I can't wait.

Have you ever played any of the Predator/AVP games?

I know! Shane Black is keeping my hopes high for it, damn 2018 is a long time from now though.

I've played a few of the games. Concrete Jungle is definitely my favorite of the Alien and Predator games. I always had fun with AVP Extinction too. I am sadly too afraid to play through Alien Isolation though lol.
