I understand completely and i'll tell you this i can manage to hear the majini's even with the mute button,Hell i even heard the exacutioner swing on me with my t.v mute and i got out of the way
I'm not one for teams though i've been a Lone Wolf my whole life (gaming wise and not)
But i agree the Japanese are the ultimate at RE5. I manage very well on my own and do better as well but i've been put with so many ungrateful people i refuse to be on a team (mostly why i insault my own teamates)
Put i still end up saving their *** everytime

There are ungrateful people in the real world also but at least you can block the gaming ones and dont have to worry about them again lol. It's just something we all have to deal with, there is no guarantee that you will get a perfect partner during every session. I guess you do what is best for you and continue to play mercs by yourself if these players upset you so much. If this is the way you enjoy then by all means continue to do so.

Some of my best moments of gaming have been due to the online portion of video games. It's very fun to play with people from all around the world and meeting new people to play with while showing you different ways to improve your style of gameplay and coming up with different types of strategies to complete an objective . As of matter of fact, online gaming has helped me improve in a game just by playing with people who are better players than you and who and would kick you off of there team if you were not up to par (MOST JAPENESE PLAYERS DO THIS ON MERCS). Not all players who are better than you are like that but most are (lol) but I've met quite a few who would give me tips that would help me improve which would then lead us to be gaming friends and would then improve in playing better. And it's not like I'd be random messaging people searching for tips but if something that seemed like it would be impossible to have happened or surprising I would say or send a message like "Where the hell did you come from" How the hell were you the only one to survive". These online situations would also affect my offline gameplay as well because the A.I. would now seem sort of easier than playing with/against a human because your skill has increased.

I have to say this the A.I are better than most players because they survive AND provide a nice distraction instead of rushing and dying in one go
I don't mind teams buti prefer going alone so i can improve but it just depends what i'm trying to acomplish

I like Barry too, but they need to give him a more updated outfit and another signature weapon, as opposed to the same old red vest and revolver. I realize his appearances are rare, but he should at least get updated in his looks since everyone else has.
Maybe they could update his outfit, but not... Not his weapon of choice! In my opinion, his revolver is something that makes him different from other supporting characters. Taking off revolver from Barry would be something like stealing sunglasses from A.Wesker. :D

I hope he is in a future installments RE whether it in a main campaign or DLC. Who cares if he's getting up in age people forget this is a game sometimes. Barry was 48 (hope I'm not wrong) during the mansion incident. If solid snake and the other older game characters can still kick ass so can barry. I hope that they wont retire Chris because he is 40 (which I think is not really old at least for a man). He has some years left.

But you have to remember the line of work they are in...I honestly think this should be Chris' last game...Whether he's retired or killed off I don't care...And I don't think Barry should return to the action at ALL..

Maybe not to main action, but to helping his comrades with weaponry, as it was his proffession in S.T.A.R.S, and 52-53 is not so old - ok, maybe he can't jump from window and roll like Leon, but Barry knows how to get job done, IMHO.

Knows how to get it done or not...Barry was always a big dude...And he wouldn't be able to hack the RE4 and RE5 situations that even Chris and Leon could barely hack....At his age, his reflexes will have slowed, his body is out of its prime, and he would be more than a hindrance then a help...Not that he isn't a cool character...I'm not saying that...But he's finished with the series, and had a good ending...Just like Claire, Billy, and Carlos...All good characters...But characters we should never see again...At least in the main action...A mention or small scene here or there isn't bad...

Does it matter what line of work he is in? Uncharted's Sully is 60 years old and the guy is still jumping off of things like he is in his youth. As long as the story is good, the gameplay is up to par, and the characters makes sense to what they are surrounded with then I think that age isn't a problem in a video game. It's not like they have to make him a spring chicken with his skills can be based on "realism" as long as it makes sense. Resident evil isn't based on realism anyway because if it was then everyone from the mansion incident would most likely be dead. Also, why wouldn't you like for barry to return? I mean, he doesn't have to return on the front lines he can be a supporting character.

But RE IS more based on Realism...Think about it...There were TWO full teams that went into the mansion...Only 4 people walked away...(Not counting Wesker cause he was presumed dead)...And having a 60 year old jump around like in Uncharted IS unrealistic...IMO having Barry jump around like a 30 year old would take away from both story AND gameplay...And RE has always been so good about both...Look at the laser cutscenes from both Umbrella Chronicles and RE4...Chris, Jill, and Leon were all at a younger, healthier age when that happened...Can you imagine Barry going up againts that...Hell, I bet even Chris and Leon would have more trouble with doing it now then they did in the past...

Capcom shouldn't bring back old characters just to appease fans...They should focus on keeping the current story going anyway...And as of right now, I don't really see a reason for Barry to be in the story anyway...We already have SIX main characters in this new game...more than ANY other RE game in the past...If Capcom were to start making games with ALL the main characters to make the fans happy, there would be too much trying to appeal to fans, and not enough ACTUAL story going on...

LOL i can clearly see Barry going up against the lasers. You know why? because it isn't based on realism AT ALL. I bet they wouldn't have a problem at all doing those same acrobatic matrix (which is a fictional action based movie) moves as they did in the previous years because it isnt based on realism. Do you really think that a special force of cops can do those over the top matrix moves against those lasers IRL? As stated in my earlier post, he doesn't have to be a main character at all. I never said anything about him being present Resident Evil 6 unless it was mercenaries so I don't know where you've got that from. Leon was brought back because he is the most popular character in the Resident Evil universe. If they wanted to bring Wesker or Ozwell E Spencer back this very instant they can because Capcom can easily write a scenario for anyone that they wanted to because you know why? It's not based on realism. As stated in my previous post, as long as the story is good, the gameplay is up to par, and the characters makes sense to what they are surrounded with then I think that age isn't a problem in a video game. Anything is possible in the gaming world, books, and movies.

Also I'm not only talking about Barry returning because I'd rather have Sheva and Josh return than Barry anyway but only if they are relevant to the plot. I;m very excited for resident evil 6 and this thread was mostly about the mercenaries which i would love if barry made a return and hopefully a cameo or main/minor in FUTURE installments which I also stated above in previous posts.

Real quick is actually 64 in UC3's timeline
But i think barry....well he didn't have much of the same type of training Leon and chris did
(Raccoon City,Rockfort Island,ect)
He just wouldn't been able to go on

Thanks for clearing up the age thing with Sully.I think you are talking about experience because I'm pretty sure that Barry has the training. Barry was 48 doing the mansion incident so he had some type of experience but certainly not with zombies/creatures because it was new to everyone except Wesker. Just like Leon and Chris or anyone in any game, Barry can adapt to his surroundings. It's all up to the writers of the game, they can give him a back story that can put things into perspective or he can simply but put into another outbreak. We didnt know Wesker wanted to be a God until he found Spencer and his motives changed. I actually think It'll be kind of cool to play as an older character in there 50s and up doing an outbreak. They've certainly been around the bush and would not be as naive as someone who is in youth. Kind of like, the last of us guy from naughty dog's new game. He may be younger I don't know but he looks like he may be in his 40s and up, I could be wrong.

Here this is something i found in a Re website about every character
Rebbeca:Excellent in the field of medicine (blah, blah, blah) She is capable of greatness that even rivals the Chris redfield also oddly enough has some connection with excella and choose to live a normal life but does what is needed for her survival
Barry:Trained by former STARS captain Irons weapon expert and always comes prepared but lacks what Rebbeca,Chris and Leon posses Has some connection with BSAA memeber Josh Stone
Carlos:Ex-UBCS mercenary excells in Fire-arms of all types is very capable but lacks natural survival skills
By odd understanding he has a connection with Sheva Alomar
Billy Coen: Ex-marine who's personality and perspective of all things around him has great potential rivals the Legendary BSAA founders Chris and Jill
Has a strange connection with Leon.S.Kennedy
