Why would having seasoned characters make it less scary?

uh. can you give an example of this done by zombies? this is closer to ghosts. zombies don't move that fast. i just have a hard time seeing the complaint of 'true' fans. zombies have never been scary for me, it was always ghosts movies that can scare, anything that featured zombies i always saw it as action movie. i just don't get 'true' fans.
