Yea I'm lovin the new forum layout too. And the new font for the links looks like some kinda creepy typewriter font, which is very fitting
Do you know the name of the font? I would like to search and see if it can be downloaded and installed on my PC.Fun fact: The 'new' font we have in use right now for individual forum links was actually present in the previous template - sort of. Only I could see it, unfortunately, because I had inadvertently uploaded all template files except the necessary font files. Whoops. The previous skin was broken in so many ways, it really was a very poor first effort in skinning the forum software to suit a 'darker' vibe. There's still a few bugs here and there with this template, but way, way fewer and less worrisome than those present in the previous template.
I'm looking into incorporating the 'New!' post notifications for the individual Resident Evil forums, also; I'll see if I can get on top of that tomorrow. I don't imagine it'll be too difficult. For the time being, I'd encourage everyone to keep on top of new posts by using the 'Unread Posts' link in the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
Regarding online status: did we have that before? I can't remember... but, if we did, then it should be very easy to re-implement. I'll look into that tomorrow, along with the new posts notification thingy.
I view the forum from my PC monitor (resolution: 1920 x 1080) and from my Windows phone (resolution: Which is... err, like, 800 x 480, I think) and while there are fewer on-screen elements, all of the essential bits and pieces are present, as are the Moderator and Admin tools.
Maybe consult a taxidermist? :lol:a very poor first effort in skinning
Let me correct you here: "It was meant to be but ended up not making it into the actual Main series" as they said. While I'm sure Revelations' status in main continuity could be debated, and probably debated well, Code Veronica's cannot. Period. It was even promoted as the true third installment to the series, taking presidence over Nemesis.
I would be interested in finding this out as well.Do you know the name of the font? I would like to search and see if it can be downloaded and installed on my PC.
I'm not sure what sources you got your information from, but I know that Capcom and the game's developers all stated, in interviews with both IGN entertainment and Electronic Gaming Monthly, that Code Veronica was the direct sequel to Resident Evil 2, making it part of the main series.Let me correct you here: "It was meant to be but ended up not making it into the actual Main series" as they said.
If you really would want to consider it an entry in the main series then that would make RE3 forfeit its position following that logic since it was meant to be a spin-off but ended up being part of the main series.
Agreed...Especially considering the subject matter. Seeing as the cannon version of RE2 is ClaireA/LeonB, and Claire spends the entire game searching for her brother, she is continuing the search in Code Veronica. Code Veronica also re-introduces the previously thought dead Wesker, which leads up to the events of RE5. There plenty of elements that appear in Code Veronica that appear/alter the later games in the series. More so than RE3 gave the series. In fact. If I recall...The ONLY Influence RE3 has on the future games is explains Jill's immunity in RE5 to Wesker's tests, due to her infection by Nemesis during the Raccoon City Incident.I'm not sure what sources you got your information from, but I know that Capcom and the game's developers all stated, in interviews with both IGN entertainment and Electronic Gaming Monthly, that Code Veronica was the direct sequel to Resident Evil 2, making it part of the main series.
Their word trumps yours and your unknown sources.
I hope the various forums will not get less activity when people can't see the name of the most recent thread and the name of the poster. A person is perhaps not interested enough to go and visit a particular forum, but if her/him can see the name of the latest thread they may be tempted to go there. But I'm sure you have thought about this.
Okay, just checked and it seems that XenForo does not natively support online/offline indicators within threads. However, there is a -- somewhat dated -- mod available to introduce such a mechanic. I'm usually very reluctant to install non-essential mods as they can -- and oft inevitably will -- affect forum responsiveness and performance, typically in a negligible way, but it all adds up when there's multiple mods installed.I don't think we have had visible online status in threads after the vBulletin days. But as XenForo is getting more and more advanced, I expect this will be possible some day if it's not already.
There should not be a smilie button on both the WYSIWYG editor and standard editor. If not, I'll have to look into that. Alternatively, a Help link is also present in the footer, directly below all of the main forum content, under the 'Quick Links' heading. The HELP tab:
It's gone, now it's a sub-menu under HOME. I miss the help tab, I used it often because I need the smiley codes. When I don't use Rich Text I get no smiley options when I compose posts.
I agree. Many of the smilies installed at present are there purely for the sake of nostalgia (I've always liked the style of them since I built my first forum, and haven't been particularly font of any others since). I'll prune the selection and remove some of the more superfluous ones, and rejig some of the BBcode required to call them. The ': /' is a particular hassle when sharing links...And while I talk about smilies:
We have a problem here. The issue is that too many character combinations results in a smiley. For example, you can't type a colon followed by a zero without getting . So when I type 090 (nine 'o clock) I get a bad result. Characters that can be used in normal talk should never produce a smiley.
I know exactly what you mean. I'll consider disabling the forum's ability to convert such character combinations as ': )' to image smilies. There are other similar issues too, with other smilies. There should only be one character combination for each smiley. Sometimes we (or at least I) want to indicate a smiley without actually producing a smiley image. Too many images clutters up posts. That's what I think anyway.
My host was kind enough to optimize my server for me, and will be performing one more upgrade tomorrow at some point. The Nginx hiccup should now be eliminated but the aforementioned upgrade might require that the forum is locked for about 10-20 mins. That should then mean that everything operates more smoothly and efficiently thereafter.502 Bad Gateway:
The last half hour I more often than not get this Nginx message when I load pages. Why do the upstream server and the gateway not agree on the protocol? I have deleted my cache and it didn't help. I suspect the server needs attention.

It is the REmake font, is it not?
"There should not be.... but if not you'll look into it"? Lol I'm not sure if I read correctly, but I would really really like to have smilie options in the standard editor. Some BB-code buttons for bold, italics and underline etc would also be nice. I've had to install an add-on in my browser to help with quick BB-codes, but most people depends on the tools offered by the forum. And the browser add-on can't help with smilies. There should not be a smilie button on both the WYSIWYG editor and standard editor. If not, I'll have to look into that. I like the classic smiliese better, though I miss one or two of the more modern ones we had some months back. But please think twice before you remove some smilies, we don't have too many. I agree on not having smilies just for the sake of having them, but the ones we got are useful tools.I agree. Good! But I think ":)" is the most common and natural combination to make a smile...I know exactly what you mean. I'll consider disabling the forum's ability to convert such character combinations as ': )' to image smilies.
Thanks!
I suppose I didn't make myself clear there. What I based this on are those interviews, actually not sure if they were the same ones but nevertheless they also said they were developing CV as their main entry but they had a contract with Sony for the PS to be the one to have the next main entry (3) so they had no other choice than Nemesis becoming part of the main series whereas CV got a side spot.I'm not sure what sources you got your information from, but I know that Capcom and the game's developers all stated, in interviews with both IGN entertainment and Electronic Gaming Monthly, that Code Veronica was the direct sequel to Resident Evil 2, making it part of the main series.

Whoops! I meant to say there is meant to be a smilie editor in both the standard and advanced post editors. At least, it appears to be that way for me. Sure. If you guys are happy to see the smilie set extended further, then that's good enough for me. I'll try and upload a list of all the smilies that match the set (with pictures) and you guys can let me know which ones you'd like to see integrated into the forum.I like the classic smiliese better, though I miss one or two of the more modern ones we had some months back. They have the white outline because they were not designed to be used with dark-themed forums. All throughout the Admin CP (which is where smilies are uploaded and installed) it is a stark white and light blue colour scheme, so I'm only able to see the smilies against a dark background when they are used in a post. I'll be getting rid of or replacing the smilies which display the white border. Why do some of them have a white "collar"? I guess it's a glitch. I don't know what's causing it, but if it's the images themselves, would you accept if someone offered to edit them?
Definitely. This new version of XenForo provides a lot more flexibility where usergroup customization is concerned, so I'd very much like to explore ways of making Gold Supporter upgrades 'cooler'. Did I mention an arcade system?I love the new staff badges, but what about badges for gold members? They get their name in gold, but not if their name already have a different color.
Spoilers should now be working...Still no possibility for spoiler tags after the upgrade?
I don't have anything I can click in the standard editor.Whoops! I meant to say there is meant to be a smilie editor in both the standard and advanced post editors. At least, it appears to be that way for me. I'll look into that.

Great!Spoilers should now be working...
Hello! I am a spoiler!
Success!
Should be sorted now. There's no doubt other visual-related bugs dotted about, so please let me know if you encounter any others as well.
I don't think it's intended to look like this? It's not impossible to use it, but I hope it can be made more user friendly.
Hmm. I'll have to look into that.I don't have anything I can click in the standard editor.
I know exactly what you mean, and I've found it to be a bit of a hassle, too. I'll see if there's an option in the Admin Control Panel to configure the quote cut-off threshold.I like that quotes are partly hidden and can be expanded by clicking on them, but even small quotes are partly hidden. I don't know what everybody else thinks, but maybe a little bigger quotes could be fully visible? I would prefer to not have to click every quote and only big quotes. I didn't explain this very well, but you know what I mean?
