The Fabulous Albert Wesker

Wesker seems like he's ALWAYS been the type that hates the noble boy scout...Which is Chris...I mean, put Leon in there instead of Chris, and I bet things would go a little differentely, just because Leon has a personality quite different from that of Chris, which would mean different interaction...Haven't you ever met somebody that you just didn't like...Whether they really did anything to you or not...I think we all have met at least one...Ther bold boy scout vs. the cold machine type...They're bound to have rivalry, and I think that's all it really is up until the end of RE5...A rivalry in Wesker's eyes...

I honestly don't think that you are wrong and can see where you're coming from with your views on this because, as I've stated before, I don't think Capcom ever intentionally made Wesker out to be gay or sexually attracted to Chris.

However, I don't think that that completely rids of the idea that Wesker could be gay, straight, bi, or asexual (and maybe branches off into one of the different types of asexuality, like homo-romantic, or whatever you so choose to think).

Capcom does leave that kind of detail fairly vague but at the same time they show enough of his personality, as well as his emotions (or lack thereof) and how he carries himself, that fans can still form their own outlook of him and his personal life.

I know there isn't a definite answer for this sort of thread because Capcom hasn't come out and said what Wesker is (or was). I feel like if anyone did ask them this question they would probably find it amusing and keep their answer on a mutual level. I could be wrong about that, but part of me thinks they've already caught wind of the idea behind the Wesker/Chris pairing and probably could care less either way because a lot of artists like when others interpret their work for themselves...

D.C. Douglas definitely found it amusing and never said "absolutely not" and he played the character.

My whole curiosity about Wesker really didn't begin until after I played RE5 though. It made me start wondering how he was before everything began in the series and made me wonder how he and Chris got along before the mansion incident (and then I stumbled upon the Wesker/Chris pairing and was hooked ). I'm kind of aware that my POV on the two is a bit on the corrupted side because I can never take things as they may simply appear... at the same time, though, I'm not completely convinced it is all that simple either. :p

I was just curious to see what other fans of the series thought of him and whether or not they felt the same or maybe saw something else... and as kind of expected it's been mixed feedback- which isn't a bad thing!

Oh, sorry...I actually wasn't even using this in determining Wesker's sexual prefferences...I was just trying to explain why Wesker hates Chris, cause you said Capcom did a bad job of explaining why Wesker hated him...

Ooooh... A rivalry and a nice piece of ass in Wesker's eyes, then. :D

Kidding, kidding.... Sort of.

OK, I just wanna add...

That pouty, smile Wesker gets on his face after Chris tries to tackle him (0:41)... That's smutty goodness right there. :D

People exaggerate things. I think Capcom just tried to highlight his inhumanity with that disinterest in romantic relationship, especially after the scene with Excella and Chris's quote " he doesnt give a damn about anyone, but himself". Plus we don't really see him out of action, so how can you base an assumption as WeskerxChriss? What if he scoring prostitutes to get done with those urges, and avoid "annoying" romance? Or does he even have urges at all ? After his "ressurection", a lot of changes were beneficial for the organism of his, but I also think there might be changes to an extent of "hormonal" production. His DNA is altered with the virus. And if he would've survived the ending of RE 5, i wont even think of a word "relationship", because that tentacle uroboros really look like it messed up his remaining humanity. Lore is pretty much a written story, and it might be that this story does not focus on relationship, and I don't think RE is even good at developing characters. I am a fan of this franchise, but I can say that I only see zombie rampage and right vs wrong.

Batman has the same issue, and that franchise is much older. People think that Joker is sexually attracted to Batman, and that is why he is taunting and trying to get to his nerves with crimes. I think joker is just mentally damaged, and same with Wesker about seeing annoying Chris. I think Wesker just does not like the fact that his main opponents think that he is just crazy. Wesker believes that humanity "improvement" is a right step towards evolution and is just trying to persuade rivals. If he will kill people who think he is not bad, but just a delusional lunatic retard, he won't be satisfied with them dying thinking of him like that.

I think you guys know what it feels like when you are trying to prove your power of might or intellect before people who think less of you, right? I don't think there is some sexual riddle in RE. Or the game is just doing bad job at character development, what I also consider. Myself, I love JillxWesker pairing since fighting them in RE 5, they look awesome, and I think Wesker satisfied all urges while she was under P30 effect :) ( look at my nick name). However, this does not exist. Capcom should really step up with their games. It is one of the oldest series, yet some one-shot games have better characters development than those in RE...

+ how did Wesker change from unemotional, cold, calculating killer to show-off, obsessed, psychopath on RE 5? The guy is totally different in previous games, then suddenly he is trying to be a new Jesus to people...

I think after Jill tackled him and threw him out of the window, he probably got some brain damage. And who knows, maybe he became gay after that... :)But now I am just making fun of it...

Wesker went from a very good and believable villain to some extra for a porno version of the matrix.

I'm delighted he is dead...

as for his sexuality ? i don't care to be honest... i just wanted him dead... and now he is.. so i'm over the moon.

Wesker was a complete tool.

I struggle to understand you, there is a specific question on OP's post, not a character hate thread.

I also must add, with Capcom's statements where they tell us that they want to make an action game for it to be as sellable as Call of Duty... Don't hope for anything better than RE 5 Wesker villain, hope for it to be at least bad, because it can turn out just horrible.
Such basis for their decisions is very unpromising...

And Leon has a horrible hair-style, can't figure out if it is a woman with man's name, or man with looks of woman. Like it?

Don't hate on characters.

And P.S. Leon is a man...

What a lovely way to start my day. Got the house done, checked my e-mails, walked the dog, and now as i settle with my breakfast, i find this...how sweet.

I gave my answer to the question, i also added some extras. If we are to not hate on a character, then it stands to reason using that very same logic, we are not to like them either. in other words, we've all to post according to your tastes. ( don't think so )

I see you're having trouble with the man Leon... lemme help you out... ( coz am nice like that )

I loveeeeee it!

My dislike for Wesker is because he's an asshole scumbag who has tried to ruin the world....

your dislike for Leon is because you don't like his hair cut, not to mention the difficulty in your gender recognition.

Don't worry about such things.

And nooooo, i'm not mad ro angry or flaming, i've a huge smile on my face as its a cracking day outside, and i have little desire to sit here all day and get into a virtual reality argument.

Enjoy the forum, and learn to accept other peoples views and opinions even if you don't like them or agree with them.

I wasn't saying you to love him, I don't get what is the purpose of doing either of that in this thread.

It is like this:

OP: "hey guys, what do you think about Weskers sexual orientation?
YOU:"oh, i dont know, and I don't care, but i know that he is a douchebag, wears sunglasses, and i am happy that he is dead!!!"
ME:"..."

Actlually, aren't you supposed to hate villains? It is like your primary feeling towards them when you are a protagonist...

And that Leon comment of mine was just an example, not my opinion on character...

P.S
Wow you really love it?! thank you very much! But I can't write this stuff all day... Sorry.

Plus we don't really see him out of action, so how can you base an assumption as WeskerxChriss?
*SNIP*

I suppose I base my assumption of Wesker/Chris the same way you do with Wesker/Jill- with a little manipulation of the facts and info given from the games. ;)

I do find your input on the Joker and Batman pretty interesting and can see where your views on Wesker and Chris come from.

That being said- I still enjoy my slash outlook of the two and not only because it's fun but because it could very well be what’s going on (with a little exaggeration of what takes place of course). But I do completely agree with you on Capcom lacking in creativity with some of the writing in these games- though I suppose they were never meant to be so deep or controversial.... and maybe we're just addicted to PRONZ.

Also- I can't accept the idea that Wesker has absolutely no preference... I just can't. I think he can still feel an attraction towards a particular look/sex.

I don't think the human in Wesker is completely gone (morals- yes, but not his humanity- at least not completely). I wouldn't label him as a "monster" either, but his actions and ideas can most certainly be defined as monstrous.

I think the virus has simply advanced him as a human (in terms of wits, strength and other various physical attributes). I don't think the virus has rid of anything so he can still have those human/animalistic desires/urges and still require the many things that all living things need to survive.

On the subject of Wesker/Chris:
I don't see Wesker seeking a "relationship" with Chris (lol) but I do think he has fun messing with Chris. Chris is his favorite toy and I wouldn't doubt that there is a form of attraction as well as admiration for Chris. Now that doesn't mean Wesker wants him as his boyfriend, but if he were given that chance to take full advantage of Chris and have his way- I wouldn't put it past him.

Jill/Wesker:
I just can’t see Wesker doing anything like that with Jill when she was under his control. This may be because of my own views of his sexual preference but oh well. His soul purpose of even keeping her alive was for, none other than, Chris. I got the impression that once he gave her the medical attention she required, he placed her in cryostasis until we neared the events of RE5. Also Irving described Jill as “Excella’s play-thing”.

Here’s to writing about a whole lot of nothing you guys! Because that's exactly what I just did.

Wesker went from a very good and believable villain to some extra for a porno version of the matrix.
How so?

as for his sexuality ? i don't care to be honest...

"You gotta have an opinion!"

I always thought that wesker acted that way because that was the Way he was made

I dont see why everybody hatin on leon for his haircut some people could have argued that he was superhuman until chris punches a boulder in re5 making all male protaganists superhuman

Oh Goody my two cents!
First off
like homo-romantic
In the immortal words of our beloved Barry....What is this?

Weskers sexuality? Hes obviously into that tenacle sh*t. He's a fetishist plain and simple. I dont think hes gay or straight in regards to our human instincts. I believe he gets off in other peoples pain male or female, a sadist. Plus i dont think he views the world the same anymore...

So i think his visual stimuli is warped, so much so that it was this transformation of sexual frustration that led him to so much anger and hatred for the world. A deep psychological 'make over' of his dopamine levels and a complete reconstruction of the neural patterns regarding arousal. That would explain his constant need to kill sh*t all the time. So wesker may have once been romantically involved, i'd even go so far as to say he was gay and had one really bad relationship. And Chris subconsciously keeps on reminding him of that failure of a relationship.

Cyberdyne, those b*stards...

Seriously though, it's not like they grew him in a lab (but he did grow up around labs and corrupt people). Even with the 'Wesker Children' idea they explained that the chosen kids were born from parents with above average intelligence.

Wesker behaves the way he does because he is, in every sense of the word, a psychopath (it may even be arguable that he is sociopathic).
http://blogs.psychcentral.com/forensic-focus/2010/07/sociopathy-vs-psychopathy/

Even if he doesn't care to form attachments or if he is simply incapable of forming attachments with other people, that doesn't mean he can't feel attracted towards a certain look/behavior.

I meant to say that the sadist idea is very plausible (whether you were joking or not)! I could definitely see him in that perspective.

Oh, what a delightful thread!

Yes, as is obvious, I do think that Wesker has something for Chris (though that doesn't mean it's reciprocated by the other party). His obsession with Chris goes way too deep. He has several moments, especially in RE5 (and in UC) where it made me more confident in these assumptions.

I like it how in UC, Wesker doesn't ever acknowledge Jill in the Russian Umbrella facility, but just Chris. Always talking about him, thinking about him, yeah, it seems very repressed to me. As a matter of fact, he rarely acknowledges anyone besides Chris, should Chris be there. Even in the REmake, he saves Chris (at the beginning) and leads him to the mansion. Wesker has always been so personal with Chris too, to the exclusion of all other characters. In Chris's scene where he and Rebecca find Wesker in the lab with the Tyrant, he has a personal conversation with Chris, quite different than what he had with Jill in her similar scene

RE5 majorly supported my ideas as well. There are just so many moments where it's clear that he holds something more than just hate for Chris. Perhaps he felt that Chris could have become great under him and that when Chris foiled his plans, he became extremely frustrated and didn't know what to do about it and so channeled all of the frustration into anger, but he still obviously held something more for him.

lets go back in history to the film Nosferatu of 1922, I learned that the director intended the evil vampire character to be ambiguous and even bisexual in the film. Fact! my point is bstar isn't completely off point for believing that an evil or strange character was depicted as gay. that has been happening since the camera started rolling. during the 1920s, ppl feared gays and outsiders; inevitably making antagonist characters in movies seem gay or mysterious. Im not saying being gay is wrong...it was just depicted as wrong or Avant guard through cinema since the pioneering age of Hollywood.just a fun fact
