GameCube version

  • First released on the Nintendo Gamecube on January 11, 2005 in North America; January 27, 2005 in Japan; and March 18, 2005 in PAL territories.
  • This version is arguably graphically superior to its PlayStation 2 counterpart.
  • The "Separate Ways" scenario featuring Ada Wong as a playable character is not included in this version.
  • The P.R.L. 412 weapon is not present in this version of the game.
  • The GameCube version maintains a near-constant 30 FPS performance.
  • The GameCube version of the game comes on two CDs.
  • The Movie Browser feature is not available in this version.

PlayStation 2 version

  • Later released on the Sony PlayStation 2 on October 25, 2005 in North America; December 1, 2005 in Japan; and November 4, 2005 in Europe.
  • This version is arguably graphically inferior to its GameCube counterpart.
  • The "Separate Ways" scenario featuring Ada Wong as a playable character is included in this version.
  • The P.R.L. 412 weapon is present in this version of the game.
  • The PS2 version maintains a near-constant 30 FPS performance, but tends to display noticeable slowdown when explosions are going off.
  • The PS2 version of the game comes on a single DVD.
  • The Movie Browser feature is available in this version. The Movie Browser allows you to watch all previously unlocked cutscenes at any time of your choosing.

  • This version is potentially graphically superior to its console counterparts, provided you have a beefy enough system to power the additional visual options.
  • The "Separate Ways" scenario featuring Ada Wong as a playable character is included in this version.
  • The PC version is capped at 30 FPS; it is not possible to increase the frame rate outside of modding the game.
  • The P.R.L. 412 weapon is present in this version of the game.
  • The PC version of the game comes on a single DVD.
  • The Movie Browser feature is available in this version. The Movie Browser allows you to watch all previously unlocked cutscenes at any time of your choosing.
  • Two additional bonus costumes are unlockable in this version: Leon's "Chicago gangster" outfit and Ashley's full suit of armour.
  • The game is almost unplayable with a traditional mouse and keyboard set-up, without resorting to mods which introduce mouse support. Alternatively, the PS2 controller, when hooked up to your computer via a special USB adapter, works flawlessly.
  • While not officially supported, modding is made possible by editing the game's core files; see this unaffiliated for a great selection of Resident Evil 4 PC mods.

Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions
