Hallo! Recently I've been contacted via another site to let me know that confirmation emails are not getting through - I can manually validate people if necessary but if those of you on other sites could let it be known generally to friends/contacts who may be interested in joining here that the following steps should be taken before contacting staff:

1. Check your inbox (obviously)
2. If not there, check your spam/trash inboxes in case the email has ended up there instead.
3. If no joy, double check you've used the correct spelling for your email address - you'd be surprised just how many people whop in their address and do something like mix up their letters or spell a word incorrectly.
4. Still nothing? Then gosh darn it to heck, there's a problem. Simply contact a member of REN (if you can't get hold of staff through normal channels - although you ought to be able to) and they will let me know and I can manually validate your registration within moments.
5. Welcome to REN!

I've already validated a friend of Meg's from the DMC boards and left him a message to this effect so once he's got it, we should be seeing more of him here - but anyone else who knows someone facing this issue, I'd appreciate you letting them know how to get around it so they don't get bored and sign up somewhere else (the horror!)

Don't forget, whilst I am not a poster on DMC, I do check my messages for the purposes of keeping Steve informed of events/issues and people are more than welcome to PM me or leave a message on my profile :)

No member who has registered after the change of software has made any post here and none of them has been showing on the "newest members" section. SpawnShooter is the first member that is shown there and that only happened once he got validated.. Since the change took place there have been a total of about 100 members who have registered and there hasn't been a single introduction thread by any of them.. It seems to me that you have a serious problem there! :/

The profiles below support what I'm saying:

http://forum.residentevilnews.com/members/runner.4666/

http://forum.residentevilnews.com/members/the-ninth-castellan-wolf.4650/

My guess is that nobody gets automatically validated after the change.

See that's a bit barking - they shouldn't be able to even post in their profiles without a confirmation of their account so something is amiss for definite. I've validated both of them and I'll send them emails to that effect but something is most certainly wrong. Steve is getting online now and he will contact XenForo to ask them what's going on because it shouldn't be doing this.

If he agrees to it, I'll temporarily disable the confirmation requirement and see if that helps people - we have it in place to stop spammers but here isn't that much of a problem for spam so I think we can risk it. I'll let you all know when things are sorted and in the meantime, I'll validate as many people as I can.

Well, you and Steve know better what they're normally allowed to do, but it seems to me that they have access to their control panels since you can write a status from there. Also they can edit their gender, age and about me tabs but I guess those are written when you sign up as well. :/

Anyway, from what I've seen DMC suffers from the same symptoms. Maybe you should take a look at all the forums that have changed to XenForo.

That's what I mean - they shouldn't be able to do a thing without being validated first so it's something XF have screwed up on. When I check permissions, they are able to view but nothing more so something somewhere is overriding the admin commands. We're waiting on the response from XF.

I've got the admins on DMC to disable certain things there too and validate those they think are not spammers (which could be interesting!). Ah well, such is life with new software - takes a while for the bugs to be ironed out, I guess. Shouldn't be too long before things are sorted though :)

I don't receive site emails, I've been away and I did not get notifications of private messages. I've checked and double checked my settings. I should have received emails but I did not. I guess it might be related to the problem discussed here.

Edit, my colour tag don't work?!

Now that you mention it I have that same problem!

Steve's working on the colour thingy and the site notifications - it's a problem host-side, not with XenForo apparently. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. It's all nonsense to me and if I get Steve talking about it, I might have to kill myself with the boredom.

Rest assured as soon as the problem is ironed out, things will be fixed :)

That's good. But it turns out I didn't type the tag right, I forgot the "#". :p

Snarf...Steve's not going to like the new Admin colour...

Super mods, goldies and admin colours should be fixed now. Still working on the issue with the email notifications though.

 Thanks, it's nice to be colored again. But I must admit I did feel a lot more sexy with the plain blue color I had on the old software. But purple is better than no color I guess...

Pink suits you Angel, but I'm unsure about Steve... but at least it's funny to see him "pinked". :p

We should have a badge for gold members, no one can see that I'm golded. I even keep forgetting that myself haha.
