Greetings RE fans I'm having too many thoughts about RE after watching the latest RE game reveal which left me kinda disappointed more or less with low expectations! Anyhow since the last two main titles of RE our opinions are different about them either we liked it or not. we think its RE game or not. i believe the resident evil franchise specifically the main titles should put to an end to the story and uncover everything we went through! together! with our beloved characters!..why i would say that or even think about ending a series/trilogy we truly adore N love. is because i feel the next RE isn't RE game by any means! Personally i don't want to see another village nor another biohazard(7) nor new characters... because the more we dive with new characters and events which stretch the lore more than it should be which leads to connecting more things to match the events/story telling that itself might kill the franchise and us hardcore fans watching our beloved story turns to a horror game slapped with RE logo on it thats the thoughts i had after watching RE requiem trailer RE(9). this thread isn't about my initial thoughts in the trailer but more so about the RE franchise as a whole/lore wise where is this going? Are we just going back to every place we ben through? With new characters? With more new locations? There is already many things they should close with RE main characters and within two or three titles. close and uncover the truth and give every character/lore the ending it deserves so that we close that beautiful chapter in our life and having the enjoyment of knowing/witnessing the end of RE like we awaited it long time ago...its better than watching it dies and become a horror show more then the game we adored...im not saying RE dying nor its bad nor im being pessimistic just want to see the truth and ending for all sake of us before capcom turns RE to a logo they slap into every new horro they release... I prefer capcom takes a new titles and take new directions and leave the old titles as it is and try to close them as fast as possible because how many RE it takes to see the end and discover the truth? idk how to end this post and i wish my message clear and well received...p.s please i would prefer to hear your comments about similar thoughts do you agree that you share the same concerns like i am?

I think that ship has sailed.

I mean, I empathize with your viewpoint, but the brutal reality is that these characters are getting old and there's only so much you can do with them after 30 years.

The kicker here is that Resident Evil games keep selling so as long as they do keep selling then we are gonna get experimental new characters, gameplay and everlasting branching plotholes because the series has survived on adapting to gaming market trends in the most cynical fashion.

I disagree with RE9 and Village though, I think RE9 looks like an improvement over RE7 so far, and that game did have a laundry list of faults despite its "return to horror" and this seems to be addressing some of those issues especially in regards to story and characters. Let's just hope the enemies in the game are more gruesome rather than the boring as Hell Molded we got in 7.

Village also does most everything wrong but at least it's fun to play, especially on PC which it clearly caters to the most.

I have more fun on subsequent playthroughs of Village than I do RE4R simply because it doesn't try to be something it isn't, gameplay wise. RE4R takes everything bad about RE4 and tries to fit it into a modern survival horror game, which comes off -to me at least- as clunky and awkward.

Separate Ways was pretty good, though.

I digress though (as usual :p). I want to believe they are wrapping up the series but taking into account that Capcom Ltd. is a public company beholden to shareholders and the fact that they want to make more money as a company means we are most likely going to continue to receive RE content in the near future. REverse looked like Capcom's attempt to turn the franchise into a slot machine to generate steady revenue but it was a big failure so I personally would count on more entries until they find a way to compensate the financial losses accompanied with ending the series.

The only other option I can think of is making a mobile only (not a port) Resident Evil game that is very addictive and lucrative for the foreseeable future and then they might be able to wrap the series properly in Console/PC.
