(So i spend hours at work bored and have been considering doing a fictional blog, like the onces you pick up in the resident evil games for some time now. I'm gonna set the scene, lets all imagine Umbrella is real and they do what they do. I'm going to blog once or twice daily about a fictional outbreak here in Cyprus, this is purely for fun of course. Lets try and keep the thread clean for purpose of easy reading, so i'd love to hear your comments but if you could either PM me or right on my profile wall that would be great.)

Decemeber 9th 2011

I wake this morning to the usual winter sunshine, there are clouds in the sky today but they move quickly as if in a hurry to get out of the Cyprus sky and leave it clear blue all around. My drive to work is somewhat the same, a zoned out drive along the beach road the only difference is the couds have changed the clear blue mediterranean coastline to a colour mix of blue, green and grey. As i pull into the car park behind my shop and make my way round the front of the building 2 guys are talking about Umbrella operations on the outskirts of Limassol, its nothing unusual however there has been lots of talk about them over the past 6 months. They opened a large facility in the 2 biggest cities, 1 over near Nicosia and 1 here in Limassol, the government of course were overjoyed with the extra jobs offered by the company in the current climate and they've built eco monorails from the city center to each complex for workers to commute.

I remain indifferent to it all to be honest, my stay here in Cyprus is only for another few months so the lasting impacts of Umbrella's operations are unlikely to affect me personally. They make extra special effort to help the local economy and law enforcment but i find it all a bit odd really, you don't see other companies doing this so pro-actively its almost like they have something to make up for. I would have thought its not only me that thinks this which is why there is so much gossip in Cyprus about them, i can't be the only one who notices and roumours spread like chinese whispers i try not to take notice of it. I mean they're a pharmaceutical development and research company they're nothing more than that, i am sure they do animal testing but i'm confident that most companies do if its directly or through third parties that are not 'connected.'

Anyway life in Cyprus ticks along as normal like most mediterranean islands, the only difference i can see here is that Limassol is very multi-cultral so has lost a lot of its traditional charm that is only retained in the villiages. There are many migrants here from Eastern europe, russia especially and i've been reading about an influx of many from the Philipenes as well, of course non of this affects or concerns me as my native England has much the same kind of mulit-cultral cities and lifestyle. Limassol really is a working city with a beach and coastline but i kinda like it, i do miss England though and the fact Umbrella hasn't taken over the place like they seem to be doing here.

9th December 2011 part 2.

So the drive home at lunch time was somewhat dull, i did notice however the Umbrella monorail was closed and under patrol by Umbrella's security after seeing that i was just waiting for the next wave of rumours. I stopped in at the bakery to grab some fresh bread and i overheard someone talking about a small blast over at the Umbrella research facility, this more or less explains the monorail being closed i guess.

The drive back to the shop after lunch was a little more interesting, i noticed a few police escorted Umbrella security convoys heading out of the city toward the research facility and even some armed military personel. The blast must have been worse than i thought, i don't speak Greek so the radio and news channels are no good to me. I'm sure its all a big hype over nothing this is Cyprus after all, there is little drama here so small things are exagerated out of proportion.

Back at the shop now and i can see deep dark grey and purple clouds closing in on the city, must be in for a heavy down poor perhaps an electric storm if we're lucky. Its quite surreal really the view from my shop window has sunlit building covered in dark clouds, its like the last rays of sunshine before the storm...

Saturday morning, just like every other morning. Life slowly ticks by the sun shines brightly and the coast line sparkles as if dancing with the day, people go about their daily business the Umbrella monorail is still un-operational but the explosion has been brushed under the carpet. Down at the bakery though its far from under the carpet, rumours now spread like a virus about bio weapons development and the research Umbrella are supposebly doing. Its said now that they are working alongside the Cyprus government and military develping new age weapons of an illegal nature, i care little for this gossip but it seems to keep everyone else happy.

As the day draws to a close it seems what ever happened at the umbrella plant is now cleaned up, the monorail is seemingly working and people are back to work. The story in the news i am told was that a petrol leak from a service vehicle caught light and exploded taking out a section of wall which happened to contain gas piping, but the problem has now been fixed and the plant is operating as usual.

Before i sleep i stand on my balcony looking at the clear skies and the stars, they're so bright in Cyprus like nothing i've ever seen and the full moon is so bright that my figure casts a shadow on the wall behind me. Oddly enough the monorail lights are off and it seems it is once again out of service...

Sunday again and work looms tomorrow, i'll note again that the monorail is oddly still out of service. I have to go over to Larnaca today which means driving past the Umbrella research facility, so chance to have a quick look at the damage perahps. Oddly enough the road is closed and blocked off by Umbrella security, the police and military personel, i find this awefully strange for a small explosion but either way looks like i'm not going to Larnaca.

I'm told by a friend this evening that the motorway is now open again, apparently it was a safety measure whilst some work was done on an area containing hazardous materials. I guess it makes sence but it seems a bit extreme to hault all traffic on Cyprus' only motorway, guess safety comes first. On top of that the monorail is working once again as i see it taking workers in for what must be the night shift.

So another day draws to a close not as eventful as it was supposed to be, damn motorway being closed but never mind. I'm heading to bed now, i can hear some real commotion in the distance it sounds like gunfire but i can't be sure...

This morning i've been on a few errands around town, the mood is kinda surreal i'm not the only who heard the gunfire apparently and once again the rumours are spreading. I was told this morning that some of Umbrellas scientists had gone crazy and become cannibals, seriously the things people believe!! The monorail is working but strangely enough the cars are empty, at the station there is a patrol guarding the entrance.

There has been a sudden increase of emergency services of late, contstant sirens going off and ambulances and fire flying about everywhere. Its almost brought the place life, another car accident haulted the traffic the guy who had crashed looks pale as anything. He looked like he was really ill and couldn't comprehend anything, never seen a guy that white in my life.

Life continues though as does the gossip, if you believed it though the city would have you think we're getting invaded by cannibalistic mad scientists!

The place has gone mad, everyone is rushing about gathering supplies from the supermarkets. People say the apocolypse is coming but i'm not sure where they've got this idea from, i've gone about my day to day business as usual there seems to be nothing a miss. Actually thats a lie, i saw one of the carrages on the umbrella monorial moving along today it was empty as it was rendered out of service yesterday. The strange thing is it looked blood stained and appeared to have sustained heavy gunfire, i thought nothing of it at the time but its awefully odd.

The emergency services are on overtime, i must have seen 100 ambulances fly past the shop today. Must be all this panicing thats going on, i'm struggling to grasp whats really happening due to my ignorance of the greek language. I've seen a lot of people leaving town with as much as they can packed into a car, i don't really understand it.

As i write this i've just watched a car crash at 30 mph (50km) or so into the back of a car stopped at a traffic junction, as the commotion follows it looks like the guy in the car that caused the accident has passed out at the wheel. People are trying to revive him at the roadside, theres no visible accident damage to him but after the paramedics arrive they find a wound on his upper arm. It looks fresh but it wasn't caused by the accident, the poor guy is pronounced dead at the sceen from unknown causes. The paramedics load his corpse into the ambulance and head back to the hosipital, i presume for a post mortem.

What a strange day...

The place has gone crazy! There are car accidents everywhere armed police patrol the streets, i swear i saw someone eating a corpse in the street this morning. I have never seen anything like it, cars litter the street with no one around, gun fire crackles around the city, i saw an apartment block on fire as well, the fire brigade are dousing the flames guarded by the police! I was stopped this morning and told to stay inside as there has been an outbreak of a potentially lethal virus and that i should keep my door locked! What is happening here, the panic in the air is insane, cars are travelling at twice the speed limit, people are looting shops.

I spoke to the woman in the shop next door, she tells me this virus is turning people into cannibals and sending them insane and that the news advises everyone to stay in doors. The word on the streets is to avoid any crazy people you encounter and prevent them touching you at all costs, i'm not sure what to think. I'm sure this involves Umbrella, were the rumours true. I'm sat at my shop today watching the panic unfoldi dare not go outside i watch a group of people flee from a group of supposebly 'infected' people, they seem to move slow and zombie like and all have some horrific wounds.

Its like something out of a movie, its surreal really hopefully i won't be noticed here at the shop. I'm going to go home and take the advice i've been given, god knows what is happening and the government are keeping quiet as are Umbrella. I check the news and there is nothing, about this crisis its being covered up very well. Its kinda scary i'm starting to fear for myself, for Cyprus....

What has happened the city is dead, i have no internet, the phone lines are gone, the city lays in ruins. I sound crazy but the dead walk the street mauling anyone left alive, i've been out today to see the destruction caused and its horrific. Blood stains the city, flames engulf buidlings and spread as the fire brigade is nowhere to been seen. Screams fill the air along with the roar of burning buildings and the odd crackle of gunfire. Is this what the appocolypse looks like?

I ventured out today for half an hour and i didn't see a living person, the people have all been turned into what can only be described as zombies. They walk the street mortally wounded, limbs missing and showing signs of being half eaten by these creatures. The sun shines here in Cyprus but the smell of death fills the air, how did this happen? I turned on the radio in my van but there were no stations available on any channel, i searched for survivors, for a save haven perhaps but i found nothing.

As i head back to my house i wonder how long i can survive before the dead find me...

The sky darkens, smoke plumes cover the pink clouds, the city center to the west glows with flames. Its to dangerous to go out now at night and even in the daytime i must be careful not to lead them to my house, the dead control the city i'm sure i'm not the only survivor but i have no way to contact anyone. The streets are deserted, i've not seen or heard a car in 48 hours now. The only sign of life is the occasional crackle of gunfire from the inner city, i assume the military are deployed or Umbrella's equivalent at least. I'm going to keep a low profile but i can't stay here for to long before i run out of supplies, or worse case I'm found by the un-dead.

I have to find a way to get off this island, is it just Limassol thats been destroyed? I'm going to try and go to Nicosia tomorrow to see if its any safer up there, perhaps its been contained within the city but considering whats happened here in the space of 2 days i'm sure it will have spread further. I have to keep the lights off at night, i am unarmed and unpreppeparred for an assult on my house...
