i know theres a few sony fan boys and girls here, so this is mostly for you..

Sony has used the 2009 GamesCom event in Cologne, Germany to confrim that the rumors of a PlayStation 3 price drop and the "PS3 Slim" are true. Oh yes, starting today, the PS3 console will now be available for $100 less across all configurations. So the 80GB model will now be priced at $299 (was $399) while the 160GB model will be priced at $399.

This all leads up to the release of the PS3 Slim during the first week of September. The system, which will 33% smaller and 36% lighter, will sport a 120GB hard drive and a price tag of $299.

i personally think this is great, although the pictures that are floating around the net are unconfirmed i'm quite looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I already have a PS3, but it's only 40GB, and I only got 8GB left. I'm thinking of selling mine and gettin' the slim :D
 
if i was you, don't wait until the slims out to sell yours, because according to that info, the ps3 price drop is coming, which will mean you get even less if you sell yours.

 
According to the Daily Mail, you can also download movies for this console and in the UK it will cost about £250 :D
 
It wasn't specified in the article - I reckon it's via a PS3 store by going online with the console, like you can do to download demos and games and other stuff currently.
 
I'm always coutious with the new models and slim, It seems to lack somthing every time. sure it's smaler and so on but they've removed something in it which is useful. what I'm trying to say is that I think the PS3 normal is better then slim.
 
the only bad points on there are no.7, although those cables can come cheap and no backwards compatibility, not a problem for me, since i already have a ps2.
apart from that it looks magnificent

 
It's a pretty little system; I like the matte finish better than the polished finish that ALWAYS shows fingerprints. Don't particularly need another system right now though. I only have about three games for my PS3. :\
 
I would definitely pick that over the original. It looks nicer and i hate polished finishes, no matter how many times you clean them they'll be covered in prints in no time
