How does one go about deleting their account here ? ( out of interest )

As far as I'm aware you merely avoid the 'Log In' button, I don't believe anyone apart from an administrator can delete accounts but I could be wrong.

a kind of, have to go past the receptionist on the way out kinda deal.

Deletion of accounts is not normally done because it can mess up threads and posts if things suddenly disappear. However, the more common option is to set a person to "guest" so that posts etc still appear for the sake of consistency but no personal details or profile information is available.
