I need help from a PC expert. Doesn't matter if you're also a PC gamer or not, perhaps you still know more about the technical stuff than I do.

Here's the problem: My game freezes at the loading screen, which I notice because I can't move the mouse and the loading symbol in the lower left corner stops moving too. I do get into everything (campaign, Rape Mode) eventually, but it takes three, sometimes four, sometimes even five minutes of loading! And it happens every time I...

- start the campaign,
- load a savegame,
- die and retry,
- enter the Rape Mode room,
- enter a Rape Mode map (that's what takes the longest).

Yes, my computer is a little old, but still meets all recommended requirements except the videocard (which meets the minimum at least). After having Steam check my game files for errors (none were found), I tried running it in Steam's offline mode, in window mode, with very low graphic settings, as an administrator, and with Razer Cortex (a software that accelerates the perfomance). I even trolled the game by setting the compatibility to Windows XP, even though it isn't meant to be played on anything older than 7 - when the likely solutions don't work, you have to try the unlikely ones, right? But nothing helps.

My friend thinks it's the RAM, but my computer has enough of that, and I don't have this problem with any other games, even the more demanding ones. I can't play REmaster without Razer Cortex (well, I can... in slow-motion), but at least it loads fast either way. So what could be the problem here? Any ideas?

Feel free to use this thread for all kinds of issues with the PC version of Revelations 2. Believe me, there's more than enough for everyone.

I'm sorry but I won't be able to give much advice other than trying:

Put every setting onto the lowest and see if that works, then work your way up to see which setting causes the issue.

Try playing in windowed mode if the game allows it.

I also had the same issue when I tried to play alien isolation on my laptop so I will be looking out for answers on this thread too.

I already tried all of that, but to no avail... Anyway, my problem has been solved now (more or less): I have two operating systems on my computer, Vista and Windows 7. Until yesterday, I only tried playing Revelations 2 on the latter because even the minimum requirements suggest that. But this morning I tried switching to Vista and running it there, and guess what? It works just fine, without the loading problem! So that's what I'm going to do now every time I want to play Revelations 2. I don't have an internet connection on Vista, but it doesn't really matter since I never play online anyway.

I recently installed Windows 7 so I can play the new games, but kept Vista to play Sims 2. Now I somehow managed to install Sims 2 on Windows 7 (after it stopped working on Vista for some reason) and play Revelations 2 on Vista instead. It's a strange world, isn't it?

I'm sorry I was no help but that's good news.
I have never seen or heard of someone who gets on so well with vista before you.
Tell me how well it plays :D
I was thinking of getting it on pc too

No problem, honey! I'm glad you replied in the first place. (As you can see, you're the only one so far.)

If you're already playing the game on a console, do yourself a favour and stick with that for now. The PC version is disastrous in its current state: No co-op, inexplicable frame rate drops, some people can't enter Rape Mode, uploading results takes forever, etc. I'm not telling you this from my own experience only (in fact, I myself don't have any of those problems except for the frame rate drops), but just take a look at the Steam forums, everyone is complaining. The game seems to be ridiculously demanding for no reason, I can play RE6 and DmC perfectly on the highest graphic settings, and Tomb Raider on medium settings with little to no problem. But Revelations 2 (and the REmaster as well) are problematic even when you turn off all the special effects, and that has been reported by people with better PCs than mine as well.

Also, there's the matter with Claire's face... But I suppose that looks the same, no matter what you play the game on. (And personally, I think it looks fine.) Anyway, if you want to get Revelations 2 for PC, wait until they have released a few patches.

Thanks this is really helpful.
I heard some issues were storming about the community but i never thought it was anymore than a local co op issue
I'm getting the game on ps4 next month but I was debating whether to get the episodes individually on pc.
I guess I'll just wait for the main product on ps4.
Can't wait to start having discussions with ya about it ;D
