Gameplay

Plot

This game takes place on a small, real island located off the north coast of Japan called Skira in the present day. The island is a contested territory between Russia and China and becomes the center of an armed conflict when one of the largest untapped oil and gas reserves in the world are discovered there. The game begins as you arrive as part of the American military who are tasked with capturing the island on behalf of the Russians from the Chinese military.

Skira is based directly on Kiska Island, Alaska.
[edit]Setting
The Island of Skira, which is located on the western end of the Aleutian Islands, Alaska was involved in WWII and has previously been invaded by US and Canadian forces. The developers have endeavoured to copy the 277.698 sq km (107.220 sq mi)[3] accurately to give players a sandbox composed of natural terrain which has not been created by level designers. This was done not only to enhance realism but also to keep players from using a particular set of tactics or methods. Players are forced to deal with the strategic challenges posed by real terrain.
Skira is a volcanic island with a number of different terrain types. At one end is a stratovolcano, 8.5 by 6.4 km (5.3 by 4.0 mi) in diameter at its base and 221 meters high, at the base of the volcano is a section of low lake lands. A ridge of 1,000+ foot mountains runs down one side of the the western portion of this narrow island while the other side is generally flatter with numerous lakes and small waterways.
Skira is generally sparsely populated with some towns and more isolated houses and settlements. An interview with developers suggests that the civilians have all been evacuated ahead of the arrival of US forces.[4]
[edit]Multiplayer gameplay
Multiplayer will be included in this game. Though no multiplayer game types have been officially confirmed, there has been speculation from certain game magazines.
The PC version will feature a total of 32 players (16 vs 16) in addition to 256 NPC squad members (each player has control of 8 NPC's). Co-op gameplay will feature 10 players as well as NPC squad members. There will be 4-player Campaign and single mission co-op. The Console formats of the game will have a total of 16 players (8 vs 8) with NPC squad members to control. Co-op will cater for 2 players in campaign and single mission co-op with NPC's.

It's the sequel to my all time favourite game of all time. The original (Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis) is an award winning FPS/Squad based military simulation which had major praise.

I am so hyped for this :D
I have seen multiple gameplay trailers and well...
I think GOTY 2009 is here!

Great game.
And yep, on 360 :)

I heard that Australia is extremely strict about game ratings.
