The Confucius of ReNews...Cheers KK.
Dunno if any you cats on here keep an eye out on the worlds oldest sporting competition, but it's in Britain this year and it's SO SO...

I enjoyed the opening ceremony which was a pretty accurate description of British life and culture..

I had a triple facepalm at my place when the German team rolled out... They were suited and booted in Blue track suits for the boys and pink for the girls... they were all waving and being super friendly...they were going well out their way to come across as non offensive with their Sensible hair cuts...

then the camera cuts to this character...

we were all like,

Jesus here we go again...

Anyways, despite this, the records stand like this

China, are romping it so far...

Haven't followed it too closely. If i had the ability to switch to what performances i enjoy i would totally dig, but you know it plays gymnastics for 5-10 minutes then goes straight to rowing or something. I wish they would actually showcase some of these sports on normal television at least once a month or something. Gotta show everyones skills, not only football players.

I don't care much for the Summer Olympics, most if it are sports that means nothing to me. Basketball? Bleh. Land hockey? Bleh. Swimming? Bleh. Whatever? Bleh.... :)

However, I do like football, and today when I zapped I happened to find a sport that I rarely see or hear about: Bow and arrow. It was fun and some of the performances were very impressive. Like that 18 year old Russian woman who placed all three arrows in the center of the center, they were so grouped so close to one another that they could fit on a coin. But it didn't go too well in the next rounds, it was nerves, wind, or both.

I think the Olympic games have grown far too big, and some of the sports are just stupid (I'm biased of course). Other sports are not stupid but they don't need to be in the Olympics.

I think the Summer Olympics could be reduced by 50%, and the Winter Olympics (which is much smaller) could be reduced by 30%. You just can't throw everything into the Olympics but that is what is happening.

I agreed. Soon there will be an Olympic event for sitting. WHO CAN SIT THE LONGEST?!

Funny how North Korea grab medals. :) Their "glorious leader" get credit lmao.

Same here. I had never cared for the Olympics, not back then, not now, and never in the future. I especially don't like this years Olympics due to all the incidents, mistakes, and not to mention 2 people in particular, I won't say who, but lets just say due to what they did really offends me and even though it shouldn't. And I do agree with you on some of the sports at the Olympics shouldn't be in the Olympics.

Not interested in the Olympics. The money wasted on such an event could have helped towards attempting to tackle some of the economic problems we have in this country rather than a sports day for adults.

What you refer to may be something different, but it reminds me on the two matches in badminton (spelling?) where all four teams are suspected for attempting to lose. I could maybe win a match.
And badminton is one of the sports I think should not be in the Olympics. It's like tennis for kids.

Yeah, but the thing about Boris is you can laugh at him no matter what he does. He just has to turn up and people are in stitches...

I agree with you on this about badminton in being the Olympics.
