METAL GEAR SOLID

Yeah, chances are the site's gonna be nothing but REØ talk soon.

But anyway, what's everyone's collection look like?

Lmao Resident Evil Ø talk is so 2002. It was a good game and far better than most fans give it credit for but is there really anything new to say about it? Other than comparing the graphics like they did with the Resident Evil port. Ironically in many area's the Game Cube version looks better. Put them both on SD TV's and take a look XD Some of the textures and details are better on the Game Cube, others are better on the HD version. Obviously the Game Cube version would look stretched to **** on an HD TV. I'm curious to see how Ø will hold up. :)

The MGS games I have are as follows:

Twin Snakes (GCN... obviously)
Son's of Liberty: Substances (Xbox)
Snake Eater (PS2, first release)
Snake Eater 3D (3DS, I quite prefer this version. The 3D was amazing)
Guns of the Patriots (PS3)
The Metal Gear Solid Collection (PS3)
Metal Gear Rising (Xbox 360... this hardly counts as a MG game)
Ground Zeroes (PS4)

I will soon be adding Phantom Pain to that list :P I will take a photo of my collection later if you want to see XD I am jealous that you have the originals on NES. I'd be even more so if you had Solid Snake for GBC. Snakes revenge isn't cannon is it? :/ Though that game is rare and so impressive that you have it! 0.0!!!

For the record my favorites are Twin Snakes and Guns of the Patriots! Those games are so good and blew my mind splat on the walls! XD I love all the Metal Gear Games though. Well the main games and Rising is fun but the story is **** and nothing but retcon this and retcon that. What are you're favorites? :P

Actually, while Snake's Revenge is uncommon, it's not exactly rare. Metal Gear: Ghost Babel on GBC commands outrageous prices, however. Loose or otherwise. I'm still very sad because my copy of Snake's Revenge doesn't have a label, but it was cheap, sooo...

I'd say Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence are my favourites.

I completely forgot about Ghost Babel! 0.0 I feel pretty pathetic right now XD I bet that those games go for outrageous prices. Metal Gear games are highly demanded and are also very valuable games for game collectors. You should look at the prices for a sealed copy of Twin Snakes, or a sealed Game Cube collectors edition. I've seen Twin Snake's sealed go for $600-800. Absolutely insane!

Those are definitely good favorites. Snake Eater is up there for me, probably my 3rd favorite. I have a feeling that Phantom Pain will be up there in the top 3 though.... It'll need to be "heaven" for me to beat out Twin Snakes or GotP, those games are waaaay past "outer heaven" for me XD I don't doubt that the game will be fantastic!
I am so excited to see the fall and rise of Big Boss!!!! Also I can't wait to see Ocelot's transformation as a character! He's one of my all time favorite characters!
:)

I love Metal Gear Solid to Death.
MGS 1 was the first game ever that i cleared, so it holds a special place on my heart. On a previous thread about the best protagonist in video games, i´ve mencioned Solid Snake as the best,of course. XD
My Favourite will always be MGS 4. Still haven´t gotten used to the MGS5 (Bought the demo),but i will,
caus my love for Metal Gear Solid won´t let me give up. =P

Thanks, I think I did the best I could without owning a PS3. Or a loan to take out on Ghost Babel for GBC.

*hi-5* for MGS and MGS4 being your favorites! Same here and I don't think anything can top those :P So many good memories! Twin Snakes helped me get through a depression and I remember renting the game and getting the Liquid and then buying the game and beating it another 3 time :D I even got a speed run on hard that clocked at 4 hours and 22 minutes :) I did **** up at one place though >.> Personally I prefer Twin Snakes over the original because the added scenes and dialogue added so much more emotion imho. Then came Metal Gear Solid that brought all my memories back and went on to be one of my all time favorite games. I need to bust it out and play it again sometime soon :D That game got me good and I cried like a little bitch! :')

I can't wait for The Phantom Pain to destroy fan theories on the internet everywhere.

Which fan theories are you talking about? There are so many XD

Never got the chance to play Twin Snakes,sadly.... =(

I thought Twin Snakes was good when I was playing it, until I reached Grey Fox's fight, then I just said "the original is MUCH better".

Honestly, the only things I like about Twin Snakes over the original are the first person aiming and improved graphics. Other than that, I don't like it all that much. And yet I still found myself buying it... probably because it was complete and pretty cheap all things considered.

Really? How so? I thought the Gray Fox fight in TS was a highlight, and the hall way scene blew my mind =O
I guess each to their own. I thought the Twin Snakes surpassed the original in every way possible. It's also the canon version. Didn't they change it so Liquid was superior and Solid was inferior? Honestly this made more sense and in the end the so called "inferior" one went on to save the world.

Liquid was revealed to be the superior clone after the credits of the original during Ocelot's phone call to George Sears in the original. Where did you hear Twin Snakes is the canon version? If that's the case, far more people have played the non-canon PS1 version.

My bad. I just did some research and I am super confused now. I can only find results of why Twin Snakes was not in the Legacy collection. This being because Silicon Knights made it and Kojima had less of a hand in it but was responsible for some of the oversights and cut scenes. The collection was only to contain games that were fully made by Kojima. People are taking this as it isn't canon. On the other hand a few years ago there were reports that "The Twin Snakes" over-rides the original due to a few changes. Also Guns of the Patriots uses the audio files from the Twin Snakes in Act 4 when you go to Shadow Moses... sooooo that is kind of saying something imo.

At the end of the considering this seems to be a subject that flip-flops and is considerably confusing. It may be best to let fans decide which one they want to be canon. There is evidence for both, for me they point to TTS. After looking at a few forums, it seems as if people are taking knives to each others throats on this subject.

I'd say the PS1 version is canon simply because Kojima had more involvement with that one, that's the version everyone played, and because most of the cutscenes in Twin Snakes directed by Ryuhei are really stupid and not only are Snake's ninja flips and impossible moves in TTS's cutscenes inconsistent with the character compared to MGS2 and 4, it's inconsistent with TTS's own gameplay, too.

And I think they used TTS's audio in MGS4 because the audio was of higher quality. It'd seem out of place to hear a guard's 128kbps "What was that noise?" in a PS3 game.

The cinematics were great, I will not deny that. but, the voice acting for Grey Fox KILLED it for me in Twin Snakes. The way Grey Fox's VA in the original game acted the scene was impeccable, the VA in Twin Snakes, not so much

Oh, I just have to show my collection!
Uh, I don't have any Metal Gear games. My dad would always rent them from Blockbuster when it was here and I played them a lot. Never got around to buying them, though.
