METAL GEAR SOLID

KevinStriker

"Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it?"
I think it's about time we had a METAL GEEEAAAR thread on here. So go nuts! Discuss all things Metal Gear. If you need scissors 61, tell someone right away and watch out for the Lalilulelo.

Not much to say at the moment other than that the wait for The Phantom Pain is torture. I feel like I've been feverishly tapping the circle button for decades!

Seeing Solid Snake in MGS4 and Solidus in MGS2 and remembering that line Grey Fox said in MGS1 makes me wonder about three things.

Does Liquid Snake suffer from rapid Ageing?

If Solid, Liquid, and Solidus were cloned from the same genes and were born on the same day. Why does the Rapid ageing affect them differently?

I know that Liquid Ocelot is dead. but if he was alive would he be suffering from rapid ageing?

Played the first one at least a couple times and loved it! Only played the beginning of the second one and stopped for some reaseon. I bought the HD collection and it's sitting on my PS3, I just need to find the time to play them.

Every time I play Twin Snakes, I enjoy some of the improvements made to the original game, but I always find myself playing the original on PlayStation or Integral on PC far more simply because I can't get over Ryuhei's new cutscenes, the new (inferior) music, bored vocal performances and awkward controls.

Not to say Twin Snakes is garbage, it's still Metal Gear Solid at its core. Just not nearly as good.

liquid snake would've gotten himself affected by the rapid ageing, but Ocelot is not a clone from Big Boss so he's not affected by it

Liquid Ocelot is not actually Liquid but self-hypnosis that Ocelot did to himself to trick the patriots. So no, he never would. Liquid on the other hand would have rapid aging once he reached of age like Solid did had he not died. It was a fail safe for Zero's/Chiper's Les Enfants Terribles project. Solidus Snake is different because he was engineered to age faster and basically was an adult within weeks instead of being a child. He was also more or less born from a test tube where as Solid and Liquid were embryos that Eva actually carried within her.

BTW both Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid are my top two favorite video games. How ironic, then again if you like one of the two games then you are most likely going to love the other. They tend to appeal to the same crowd even though they are vastly different, they have a similar feel to the games and the complexity of the story. :)

what I said, but in more words

This is my understanding:

Solidus was a perfect clone of Big Boss, which is why he aged rapidly
Solid Snake rapidly aged due to FOX-DIE because it was acting as a toxin, since he had it swimming around in his blood stream after Naomi was never ordered to program it to kill Snake.
Liquid Snake died due to FOX-DIE because that's what was programmed.

But I could be wrong, this series is a clusterfvck.

Actually now that you trigged my memory. You're actually pretty close on this. Thank you for triggering my memory XD
Naomi did **** Solid over and apologised for it. She wanted revenge on Solid Snake one point because of how he defeated Gray Fox back in the day (before MGS). Gray Fox AKA Frank Jaeger adopted Naomi as a sister and protected her as a brother. She apologised and revealed that in MGS4. She is also the one that brought Big Boss back to life and warned him not to go see Solid Snake because he would die from FOX-DIE. However given the terrible man that Big Boss was, he wanted to see Solid Snake and apologies to him and have redemption and peace. He no longer hated Zero/Chiper and he unplugged him as an act of love, rather than an act of hate that turned Big Boss into the monster he had become.

Solidus was indeed the perfect clone of Big Boss and he was active in the 80's and he did a lot of horrible things back then. Ironically in MGS2 he wanted the same thing that Solid, Big Boss, and Ocelot wanted. To destroy the patriots, however only Solid Snake was the one to have a heroic solution to this and save the world instead of burning it to stop the Patriots. Ocelot wanted to simple restart the world in order to save it, he was a hero in his own rights and was an anti-hero more than anything. A triple-quadruple agent until the end XD

I used spoilers for the above for the convince of others. It has a lot of spoilers XD

As for Liquid, it is true that FOX-DIE was designed to kill all of the Snakes, we didn't see this with Solidus as it was Raiden that fought him and, it's been a while since I played but Solid never spent much time around him I don't think. . Solid Snake was a walking biological weapon and more ways than just one. However Solid Snake was engineered to have a shorter life span and age at a rapid rate. Not the best source but it will do. http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/926596-...y-is-snake-rapidly-aging-may-contain-spoilers
Read this: http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Naomi_Hunter for information on Naomi Hunter. Read the LO - Insurrection part. It explains on who else the FOXDIE was meant to kill.

Also I disagree about the story being a cluster****. It's very complex and it can be confusing for some. However all the information is there and no stone is left unturned. Calling people on codec add's a lot to the story. Phantom Pain is going to bring the series full circle! It'll explain stuff like how
Big Boss fell and became a villain and why Ocelot was playing all sides and was secretly plotting against the patriots.
While we know most of this, there is a lot for us to learn and see how the events unfolded.

That's basically what I meant. It may be all explained ingame or online, but it's a ton to digest without playing the games more than once just for reference and overwhelming to just about anyone.

That is a very good point. The games are definitely overwhelming and I can definitely agree with this statement. I've come across a lot of people who despise this series due to the over complicated plot and that they could not understand what was going on. Snake Eater had a much simpler plot that was accessible to most people as it was an origin story. I actually tell everyone to start with this game if they are looking to get into the series.

no he was not, he had the eye patch on his LEFT EYE!!!!! >:(

LMAO!!! Dis is true, dis is very true! XD

sorry for the double post, but it feels weird to talk about MGS in an RE forum.
Considering the amount of general conversation that goes on vs resident evil conversation its not that weird. Until the next resident evil related product gets announced this forum is general.
