It was popular a long time ago. I say what I said when Indiana Jones and Total Rekall came out:
Better to let sleeping dogs lie. Series like this one are a cash cow waiting to happen, but the pressures of meeting demand could easily make the movie not meet demand. Better to let the fans enjoy the films for what (and when) they were than dredge up the past.
My two cents.
I would have said it when Star Wars: The Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace came out, but I was busy having my 11th birthday party. But since enough money to feed Africa has been pumped into 3 installments, they're proven that they have enough conviction to continue the story rather than release one movie and leave the ending sour. Star Wars at least has potential to improve because they are still making new Star Wars movies. And no, I'm not one of those people who think Disney would be so dumb as to put muppets in a movie about fighting revolutionary wars in outer space.
