Is Chris gay?

I don't think he is, even if some people say that his once "obssesion" towards Wesker is actually love.

I never saw anything in the franchise that would indicate that Chris is gay.

What? They arent married?

Theyre just like... best friends and partners. Or maybe more, but we dont see that and they are certainly not married.
In the Lost in Nightmare DLC, Jill says something about Chris flirting with the younger BSAA female employees. So they are not married\in a relationship and Chris is not gay (apparently, he likes 'em young too). I don't think they actually will ever touch the subject of the established character's sexual orientations. Maybe they will introduce some new gay\trans\whatever character in future games, even though I think they'll be very weary, especially after what happened with The Last of Us Part 2.

What happened with The Last of Us Part 2? Didnt they just have a trans character? Or was there something more?

I was referring to the backlash the game got for the trans character (as well as some people only realizing in Part 2 that Ellie is a lesbian): I think that most game developers will be very wary about their character's sexual orientation in the foreseeable future in order to not stir up any controversies with the consumers (I didn't use the term "players" on purpose). They definitely won't elaborate on established characters' preferences, that's for sure.

I suppose there was a bit of a backlash, but the game is now the most award winning game of all time and had pretty good sales. I do not think Capcom will be including a lot of sexual orientation in their stories though simply because it doesnt fit as much. Resident Evil games typically occur over the course of a day or a few days. Not enough time for a romance to really blossom. LoU and LoU2 take place over long expanses of time which allow them to add much more character depth.

I cannot believe we are still responding to this thread though. haha

LOL how did I miss this colorful fabulous thread?

Anyway there is no evidence to support that Chris is a homosexual. None. In fact, there's more evidence to the contrary as in his early bio he's known as a ladies man.

Unless he's like, one of those sly "pornstar gay" types who likes having sex with women but goes home to a male partner. I've heard of stuff like that but again, it's pure speculation and not an ounce of evidence supports it. The theory that Rebecca is a lesbian because she doesn't show much interest in any of the male characters holds as much water. It may prove sexual introversion but not outright homosexuality.

Yeah, that doesn't hold up. She also doesn't show interest in the female characters so with that logic, she wouldn't be a lesbian either.

(Non-canon but in the Caliban Cove novel she is attracted to one of the male S.T.A.R.S. members from the Exeter branch)

I don't know I just beat Revelations 1 for the 1st time (How lackluster it is from a gameplay perspective is another thread) and him not showing interest in Jessica was kind of eyebrow raising, I had a crush on Jessica instantly and she tells Parker something like "What a drag, he didn't take the hint" And Parker says "Perhaps he's already taken" insinuating that he likes Jill or something, but he never shows any interest in Jill either....

Chris really needs to step up his game here or I'm gonna assume he's not interested in women whatsoever, and I think we all know what that might imply.

The weird thing is, in RE2make, he has that letter where he's such a "bro dude" talking about banging European women. I was not sure if it was him trying to be cringey or if that's how he really is in that...remake universe. I don't remember that letter in OG RE2, if it existed at all.

So maybe it just depends on which universe it's in. And...don't some ppl say to just treat each RE game as its own universe? lol.

^Although Claire commented on Chris's letter and said that it didn't sound like Chris at all. I don't remember if there was an explanation to this.

I believe it was a subtle message to Claire informing her that he was in fact in Europe without giving away to the wrong eyes (Brian Irons, most like) that he was in fact there to stop Umbrella. I mean yeah I guess it makes more sense than leaving her a blatant message in his diary on his work desk for anyone to pick up and read (RE 2 original), but still...kinda corny regardless. RE was never known for it's Shakespearean writing though so it's not like they have a high bar reputation to maintain...lol.

Well, at least the recent RE's are a bit more grounded and real in their writing and dialog lol. I mean, something like a "Jill sandwich" hasn't happened since RE6? Was that the boulder punch game? lol

Anyway, iirc, he DOES say "umbrella" in the note. I thought that was an odd coincidence, but maybe it wasn't. I wonder if it has any sort of cipher or code to it.

As much as I like a bit more grounded writing, I think there’s a certain charm to cheesy dialogue in some games like Resident Evil. I mean, this is not ”The Last of Us” after all. The Jill sandwich joke was actually referenced in Revelations 2 when Claire tells Moira ”I was almost a Claire sandwich”.
