I was just listening to re 2 remake ending song Saudade, and the lyrics pretty much admit that re 2 second scenario isn't present and that it's a memory from the original re 2
Probably isn't what the singer wanted to say whit the song but it's pretty ironic to listen to some of the lyrics

Here is the lyrics:

But how did it go so wrong?
Now it’s all gone
(The pain of remembering)

Where did my life go?
I look in the mirror but what I see
It ain’t me
These streets are paved with fantasies
Of what the other half could be
Now it’s flying in the breeze

There’s two sides to every story
Did you feed off the pain of the glory?
(Gone, gone)
It all burns away
(Gone, gone)
But how did it go so wrong?
Now it’s all gone
(The pain of remembering)
(Gone, gone)
Forget yesterday
(Gone, gone)
It ain’t worth the pain
(Gone, gone)
It ain’t worth the pain
The pain of remembering

There’s two sides to every story
Did you feed off the pain of the glory?
(Dawn, dawn)
It all burns away
(Dawn, dawn)
But how did it go so wrong?
Now it’s all gone
(Dawn, dawn)
Forget yesterday
(Dawn, dawn)
It ain’t worth the pain
(Gone, gone)
It ain’t worth the pain
The pain of remembering

(Gone, gone)
(Gone, gone)
(Gone, gone)
The pain
The pain of remembering

(Dawn, dawn)
Forget yesterday
(Dawn, dawn)
It ain’t worth the pain
(Gone, gone)
It ain’t worth the pain
The pain
The pain of remembering

Here is the song:
